- Well we have been waiting months for this and it finally came..The HP22B or Carolina Reaper as it is now offically called is a heck of a pepper. Ed Currie, the originator of this pepper, was kind enough to let us sample a few pods. Wow is all I can say. If the chatter is correct, this will be the new record as worlds hottest. Crazy intense heat, but SUPERB flavor. The pepper "buzz" was like nothing we have done. Highly recommend this one but also caution you, it's named reaper for a reason!
"Should be Carolina Creeper", ha ha ha!!! Best line in the video.
You guys handle it a lot better than any other reviewer I've seen. Great Job
I agree. It's got the best favor of any pepper.
Just had one a few days ago. Remember.. that you don't need gloves to handle these peppers. They don't burn your hands.
You folks are awesome. There's nothing better than family fun.Your little guy is one tough son of a gun. Thanks for all you do and God bless
Thumbs up for you and your family! My parents introduced me to hot peppers when I was about the little guy's age, and I'm so glad that they did. You're raising your kids right!
The family that burns together stays together. -_-
I just wanted to see Mrs McDermott
Hell yea little man was a trooper..but did anyone else notice the daughter in the mirrior behind them. classic video bomb!!
I’ve eaten “THE CAROLINA. REAPER”and your a brave soul,I just started growing jalapeños and habaneros been watching your videos they tend to have a tense bite but don’t have the distance,I’m crossing the plant that I have now the jalapeño has the distance but the habanero have the bite good luck the best to your crops
I think this pepper would be good for anything. We have also eaten it on food and the taste and the enhancement it gives the food your eating is amazing. HIGHLY recommend for powder.
the family that suffers together stays together
love how u guys do this as a family..great job everyone
I really enjoy your shows. It's the family aspect that does it.
And your wife is a trooper as well as the kids. Thanks guys
Your lad has bigger balls than i will ever have, fair play to him for trying that.
That's fantastic, a family trying out peppers! Subbed!
Nice one guys lol I've got seeds for these babies this yr so hopefully I'll be sampling them later this summer. Liked and subbed.
Thanks for watching. Those reapers sounds great, biggest I have heard of thus far (other than Ed himself). We got a lot of the Jays peach and red peppers this year but never got around to eating them (just deseeded). Looking forward to growing them next season ourselves. Good luck on your grow and thanks again for watching!
Yes he is. WAY tougher than I would have been at that age. You will really like this pepper. best taste of anything I have had. Thanks for watching!
That little guy took it like a soldier very nice
LIL man is a trooper well done !!!
yea that baby was bad. Other than that triplet moruga, that baby burned pretty severe. Thanks for watching
Great job guys...nice family you have there! I'm currently growing the Reapers they're about 5 inches high now, and have some of the Jay's Ghost Scorpion seeds germinating right now from Refiningfirechillis. Going to be an extremely hot 2013 lol...keep the videos coming...cheers!
Props to the little man for eating it! I will not touch it!!
Yes he is. He wanted to start trying last year and would not take no for an answer. This is his second year and he is 9. I would have died eating these things at 9 :)
Mike , you got me scared to try that one! how's your stomach? The kid flew out of the chair when the burn hit! i noticed that one is elongated a little bit. They look cool! Awsome review as always!
oh wow you guys have incredible tolerance, especially your child! even though it was just a sliver, a pepper capable of reaching 2.2 million SHU is still dangerously and excruciatingly hot....bravo
Thank you.
wow you guys handled that. everyone else i saw threw up and was yelling how bad it hurt.
Damn Mike, you're freakin me out! I have been working hard trying to get a hold of one of these to review it and I am not so sure now, lmao. A guy I met on YT lives right by Ed and he's supposed to meet him and hopefully get or buy a few pods. We shall see! They definitely sound really unique.
I can feel your pain....
Good video!
Well, he took that pepper better than any video on the internet out there it seems lol...
OMG. How old is your son? And he's eating the pepper?! That kid is awesome!! LOL I cant get my kids to even try peppers. LOL
I don't have the stats yet, but Ed Currie is and has done major testing on them and from what I understand, it will do very well in the record books! :)
But then most of the other reviewers ate them fully, with seeds, which are the strongest part of the pepper, and all. They ate a sliver of the skin, and the dad, ate one without the seeds.
thumbs up for the litle man
That young man is a Ranger!! Good stuff, my seeds are in the mail, can't wait!
cool family. thanks guys.
Well hopefully you get a few. Would love to see you review these. I think you will love them. Would like to see you make a sauce with these!
Damn. This dude is a beast.
You all did really well!
The placenta in that first pod was crazy! I'll bet my annual salary that pepper was legit hotttttt!!!!!!!
That's a cool family!
Hes a trooper! Thanks for watching
I thought the seeds is what makes it hotter. Dose anyone knows if it dose or not?
new sub from me nice work.....all your family did very well :)
The white membranes inside the pepper contain the most capsaicin.
I would say based on the data I know Ed has and the heat that the pepper gives it is REALLY likely to get the new record and quite honestly I think it will keep it for a while.
Well done...
My new favourite family. Greetings from Canada
Why Kid?What is punch line?
Good job on the review Mike
your wife trying to take over the videos
Triple moruga? What does that mean
Thank you Dave.
Thank you very much.
Lol! Thanks for the laugh
the lady was great ! thumb up !
thank you and thanks for watching
Ultra brave!
Judging from yours and Jen's reaction about the flavor it had, the wheels were already spinning about a possible sauce based solely on that baby.
hot one
Did you get capsaicin cramps from this?
Well done forsure...BUT....its the seeds that is where the REAL heat is...if you took out all the seeds, thats why you all handled it so well. Still, props to you all... especially your son.
I would LOVE to see a sauce from this pepper. I had a crushed up pod on chicken alfredo last night. was super good
try the chocolate butla pepper they say its hotter than california reeper pepper
Love the REAPER!
Thank you
At the beginning of this video I was like omg that kid is in trouble omg
Great video, I subbed
Well come on over! 60,000 plants next year we need all the help we can get :)
First Family of hot great job!!
Much respect for the little guy and both of you too! Mr. McDermott, you're a lucky man. Your wife is hot even without the pepper!
Extreme Yep that's a Milf.
where can i buy fresh pods?
Bakerspeppers.com
Those are all great peppers you menioned. We will be growing a jungle of the reaper and also have about 400 each of the Jays red/peach we will be growing. If you want to join our group, google "chiligrower". I cant put the link in here because youtube doesnt allow. We also have a facebook group called the same thing. Good luck with your grow!
:) little man got a pepper chill lol
Why do you have a girl locked in the cabinet?
Good job, thanks.👹
Capsaicin is present in large quantities in the placental tissue (which holds the seeds), the internal membranes and, to a lesser extent, the other fleshy parts of the fruits of plants in the genus Capsicum. The seeds themselves do not produce any capsaicin, although the highest concentration of capsaicin can be found in the white pith of the inner wall, where the seeds are attached. So in short the seeds are covered in it , but not eating them wont make it seem less hot.
I WANT ONE SO BAAAAAD!!!!
I agree :)
I want to be part of this family!!!
LOL well done ;o)
the great santini.
sundevilification haha wasn't that in Colombo.
The husband looks like my Mom's friend Phil.
You'll eat it! and once you do, you will be hooked for life and want more and more! Peppers are like a drug lol. Very addicting. (but legal!)
I WANT TO SEE A MANGER!
Lovely family:)
LOL Carolina creeper!
poor kid turned red
Why would you let your child eat that? Lol.
I'd busy wifey ass wild crazy lmao😂😂😂😂😂
yes i do :)
Why on earth would you let your child taste something before you did? I know it was a long time go, hopefully it was a lesson learned.
she should eat whole thing
I Tried I Can Only Eat Small Amounts Tho Its Fine Till IT COMES OUT THE OTHER END !
Im Growing Bhut Jolokias And I Am Too Scared To Eat Them LOL I Cant Imagine This One
Yes a bit :) those cramps suck
I want some carolina creeper man ;-]
By the way, the "where to get" has changed since releasing this video. You can now get authentic and apprived seeds from us at Buckeye Pepper Company. We are Ed's largest grower of the reaper other than himself.
Are you guys in Ohio? I'm wanting to make a video with my son. My channel is kinda small but I'm branching out a bit from my "typical" videos. How could I get to few peppers? Oh btw I'm about 8 min from Ohio I'm in WV. I grew up in Ohio though.
Ed i was actually surprised. zero stomach..ziltch..nothing....then.....about 2 hours later..i was in my traditional fetal position on the floor lol
