I hadn't played since the start of TBC and that was pretty casual stuff I did. Then when I decide to join they keep adverting for legion and slapping my face with the quick leveling of the legion events. I made sure to level my tank and healers proper but have yet to take them out on a raid. Kind of scared to honestly. Baffles my mind since I know how MMOs work that anyone would want this experience.
I have to admit, i am a person who level boosted, never had a max level, never done a raid. BUT im trying, im staying out of raids because of that, ik ill suck, ill drag the team down, im still learning my rotation and looking up on the raid bosses to know what to do.
Wyatt Triplett If you're trying, you'll be better than most people in no time. Honestly, all it takes to be good at WoW is the willingness to do a bit of reading on your class, and spend a couple hours at training dummies. After a week of that you'll be better than most people who just wing it, but've been playing for months more.

Because 1) I might as well have been brand new to the game and 2) I had rolled a class I never played before. People complaining about this video, LISTEN TO YOURSELF You're saying that the "crybaby" boosters should just have their way and that if any of the old, loyal players don't like it, they can just unsub and let WoW get overrun with even more noobs (yes, noobs) than it already has? ***** Fresh boosters don't do "actual raids", the point here is that boosters aren't doing their homework and thus causing issues in an environment that would be otherwise a "walk here for free gear" as you stated.
So somebody can ding level 90 through questing and normal 5 mans alone then roll their level 90 boost on a completely different class and still go straight in to LFR completely unprepared. I don't see how that improves the situation at all.
irl wilson there is something like Icy Veins, Noxxic and google? Exp players will use that to learn their boosted class, on the other side the noobs.....
Lol you're not. My wife and I did that too. I picked up a frost mage (I usually play melee classes), and she picked up a holy pally. And we sat in Proving Grounds until we got at least silver.
I've been seeing the same thing Preach..LFR just became way worse, and what's terrible about it is that they all have this "lol whatever" attitude to it, they don't like to be yelled at but they don't wanna learn their class before raiding, so they either quit or troll. Well ranted! I myself love boosted level 90s. I watched all your videos on the classes I was interested in, and boosted them to 90. But the important thing is I watched your videos first, and watched them over and over again because I wanted to hammer it in there. Because I did research before I did it, I feel really glad that I did, because I feel comfortable with my characters then jump into 90, and just randomly go into it.

This was a pretty bad call by Blizzard. However, the bright side is, these people will have had more experience with their class by the time WoD rolls around. They will see two things: 1) the animosity towards incompetent players and the constant kicking/ flaming at them and thus be encouraged to l2p and 2) have some endgame experience at max level so that level 100 won't be their first experience doing relevant raid content, learning their class, or gearing up, etc. But I suppose a silver lining that's still half a year out is pretty useless, huh?
There is another bright side... Most of the lazy bugers who went straight from 0-90 in one second will leave the game because they are sick of being abolished by their groups for being so bad. But, then again, I don't see it as their fault. It's Blizzards fault for giving them the opportunity.
I feel your pain. The amount of idiots I see in LFR is intense. I'm a healer and I have seen tanks get one-shotted with fully repaired gear and instances where I am doing 40% of total heals and everyone else is doing the rest. Then they blame the healers. WELL I'M SORRY THAT I'M DOING TWICE AS MUCH HEALS AS THE NEXT GUY AND CAN'T HEAL THE ENTIRE RAID.
As someone who boosted with this in mind, I'm not going ANYWHERE NEAR LFR until I know what the fuck is going on. Show some common courtesy guys, at least try to read some guides or SOMETHING before you tapdance into raiding where you'll screw everyone else over.

I don't understand how people cant figure out how to play a class if they are bossted. Spells have tooltips for a reason and there are so many guides out there for every class and spec. If you can't figure out how to play a class you aren't trying.
So, if people want to actually practice their role, where can they go? I rolled a mistweaver monk, but I want to get some serious practice in before I go and do some LFR. Or would it be easier to switch to windwalker?

WHy do you care? You don't have to do it. DO normal, flex, heroic. The mentality that you want something to disappear because you personally do not like it is rather absurd.
Damien Rafalowski because then it focuses the larger player base into those modes creating a wider array of players to select from. I dislike it because it robs responsibility in group situations from the player. Which should not be the case in a game by design. A game should not be a sightseeing conveyer belt tour. And I likely won't have time for any raiding in the future personally, but I will not stoop to doing LFR. That's not a raid. Flex mode is a raid...just, and the nature of it will allow those of any level of free time to come into a pug and make steady progress. It's all the game needs.
Lewtable Exactly, eliminating LFR is healthy for all players, it doesn't force casuals into them, they can go into flex anytime (There's always a cross realm one running at any hour) since thats where we take all my guilds recruitees for gear (it's had great success at making people actually try and be interested in raiding again since failure is a real possibility if you don't, and that hurdle is easily remedied by one super geared heroic alt coming in to carry the group if it goes too long), and everyone wins, no one can claim you 'didn't try' for not punishing yourself by having to run LFR if you didn't get lucky on gear. That mode is punishment for actual starting raiders and a boring slog that misrepresents the true purpose of raiding for everyone else.
Looks like I quit this game at an opportune time. The level 90 boost has been a blatant cashgrab to capitalize on people's absolute incapability to protest WoW's Skinner Box leveling experience and just throw their money at it instead. Why did the most profitable and most successful game of all time become the most greedy? Surely there's some Confucius quote that fits here.
The boost should have been level 89 and a green set of level 400 gear so people would have one level of questing and gearing before they would get to the end game. Who the fuck was it that thought giving people a full set of 483 gear with the boost was a god idea. I guess it's time to take a vacation from WoW and play ESO,Wildstar and Everquest Next Landmark until WoD comes out.

I got my preorder the day before the release and used the boost on a new character. But that "new character" I didn't use for raiding, or make it based off "what's best right now". I did what you're SUPPOSED to use the lvl 90 boost for. And that's take a class you REALLY enjoy playing and jump right into the new content. Grabbed myself a 90 Druid, because I love druids, went feral, did the pre-launch portal quests, got my skills and what not, then just chilled. Grabbed professions, got started on them to prepare for WoD, then the next day, jumped into the new content. About 5 days later, lvl 100, still not raiding, because I'm exploring the new content the way it was made to be explored. On foot and in depth.
Why would LFR in SoO be a problem when the gear you get from a 90 boost is 483 and you need 496 to enter it? I think you're just assuming its the boost that's the problem but really it's just getting bad luck with players. Wiping on bosses is nothing new.

I'm wondering if maybe a quick minor fix might be to require the new 90's to have to complete MSV, HOF, TES, etc in order to move on to the next raid like it used to be. Instead of just being able to hop into TOT and SoO. :/
also to add, maybe blizz should address the actual problem, being that you need a friggin' refferal to make leveling do-able, its a drag, its lame and after leveling three characters I'm tired of it.
MycroSparks Most people don't actually. The whole reason Blizzard rolled out the boost to 90 perk was to raise their subs. Since the last patch we just went threw lasted almost a year their subs declined yet again. To find a new player who can sit threw the 1-90 grind and soon the 1-100 grind is a small crowd. To address this Blizzard decided a way to draw in players new/old in this new expansion is; why level when you boost to 90 and join your friends now. Returning players if you have a level 60 you just couldn't level no problem boost them and max your professions. This has been an ongoing issue. Think back to when Goblins and Worgens where introduced; Blizzard said they wanted starting zones that gave a glimpse of what the end content of the game had to offer. I will say that there is a select player base that all they like to do is level but to go as far as "most people actually enjoy it" is not true. Not even to Blizzard.
Honestly, you really shouldn't even be allowed to max boost unless you already have at least 1 max level character like WTF? And even then, you still shouldn't be able to enter raids with that character until you go through some sort of attunement process.

But the thing is that he would have to get a flex group with 25 people and do a flex raid but since flex raids have different mechanics or bosses have more health so rather than flex get 25 people group up for flex raids take the 25 people through Raid Finder to best represent this.
Having a tonne of fun with my guild grinding gear on our boosted lvl 90's. We are PvP'ers so grinding honour gear in random BG's. All of us learning a new class.
First off I am so sorry you've had to deal with this! I'm lucky to get into an LFR without waiting almost 2hrs. I've given up on LFR raiding and I don't have time to raid with an actual guild anymore. So I get to sit in crappy Timeless Isle gear :( Anyway, I boosted three characters but because I couldn't take Pandaria questing anymore I just couldn't, but those that I didn't level have yet to see any LFR content.. and I'm starting in Mogushan and working my way up. I think when you're allowed to boost a 90 that even with the timeless gear you should go to a tutorial unless you've got a previous 90 somewhere or have multiple classes played. They just gave away max levels just because and yes it's incredibly frustrating. I hope it's gotten better for you!
I understand what you're saying.. I don't run PvE, I do a lot of PvP. I boosted a 90 Warrior since I just wanted to play one, never have and I said this should be fun. What is your opinion on this?
I've been in countless groups before the level 90 boost where people couldn't kill bosses in LFR. There is no correlation between level 90 boosts and failed groups, because failed groups have been happening since the inception of LFR. There are some people who will boost a character and become better at the class in a few days than someone whos been playing it for 2 years. Generalizing everyone to fit the category as an idiot who specs random things and doesn't gem their gear is unfounded.
You're correct that there is no correlation here, but it's definitely not a fucking coincidence. Mike was having a great time making these videos, and I remember just last week downing most LFR bosses with minimal problems. Now I don't even want to queue up because I know it'll be a waste of time.
Im truly appalled and disappointed with this booster system,as a pvp player who enjoys doing random bg i started to see sudden surge and influx in number of players entering bgs right after the boosts and drastically slowing down the bg and most common excuse or reasons were given " hey i just bought the boost and i don't know how to play this class" Im dumbfounded...
I have seen this same idiocracy when it was popular to trade accounts. buying accounts with a few pre-leveled high level characters. Heroic 5-mans were a pain.
I just came back to the game after 3-years off and used my 90 boost on a monk because I couldn't be arsed to do the 1-80 (especially 60-70) grind again. I've been through the Cata content and honestly just want to get back into the endgame again. That's not to say that I'm just going to jump right into the LFR. I understand that the gear boosted characters get is crap and that there is a lot about the new encounters, and even my own class, that I don't know. So I spent 2-days doing nothing but reading and researching while fixing my UI and addons. Watching videos about how to play Mistweaver, about it's strengths and weaknesses and stuff like that. Heck, I'm not even going to jump right into LFR. I'm going to start out slow, ease myself into some level 85-90 regular dungeons, shift up to heroics if I feel I've gotten back into the swing of things and then see where I am from there. Hell, WoD will most likely be out before I even think about getting back into raiding. And that's fine with me. I can't understand why anyone would boost to 90 and immediately try to jump into content THEY ARE NOT PREPARED (a-hyuck) for. Blows the mind.
Boosting is not a problem, you don't learn to play your class by leveling anyway, you learn it by researching. The problem is, LFR allowing people with bad gear that didn't pass the armory audit to queue. I really like that in WoD proving ground medals are going to be necessary for queue.
I'm an Alliance main player, my family plays Alliance and all of my friends who got me to play, play Alliance. Now most of them don't play much anymore if at all and some of my newer friends who are more active play Horde. I used my boost to get a free level 90 Horde on their server, and I did spend like an hour looking at all of my abilities and talents to figure out how to properly Fury DPS before I went into an lfr. I can understand people's rage about the boost, however there are benefits to it too.

I am seriously not trying to be an ass when saying this, and I am sure that is how it will come off. But where exactly do you expect people to gear up for LFR or whatever it is they want to do besides the timeless isle? I know the gear that you get from there isn't great, but if you just hit 90 by leveling or boosting, it's a very fast way to get geared up for the current raid content rather than running old raids or rep grinding to get gear. If there is something that I am unaware of please tell me because Timeless Isle is my first stop when I cap a toon now. If there is somewhere better to go I really do want to know, seriously, not being an ass, I really do want to know. Drop some knowledge on me peoples.
it was not a question of where to gear up... its the fact that they are giving everyone the option to have a capped character before the xpansion, this is a side effect of making it that way.. not freaking possible to do any LFR's.. wiping on fcking Jin'rohk the breaker in throne of thunder 1 million times untill the group falls apart.
I know the purpose was to say WTF to blizz as to why they would hand out capped characters, but he seems to strongly dislike the gear the the timeless isle gives you. While I agree it isn't great gear, he seems to be consistently saying that the gear is garbage, so I was just curious if there was some way to gear that I was unaware of. But seriously, LFR is even more trash now than it was before.

The timeless gear is created so that people can join the LFR's or be able to accualy survive on the timeless isle as they get capped to 90. but you can mean that the Timeless gear is great.. its not :s its missing a stat and most parts cant even be Gemmed, and ye the LFR is trash, its as hes saying. not worth even quing for.
leem057 Because the timeless isle gear by itself is nowhere near good enough for SoO. Random stats combined with a major lack of gem sockets make that gear just aweful, whether it's 496 or not. The funny part is, it IS good enough for ToT, and the 502 gear from ToT lfr is good enough for SoO, but players fully decked in timeless gear can just skip that middle step completely.
Kenneth Saastad It's not always missing a stat. The stats you roll on your items are based on RNG. It's entirely possible to get a great piece. Most people just don't put in the extra effort to get the ones that aren't dogshit.
You can tell blizzard is employing questionable and dodgy marketing and game tactics in order to maintain subs for a 10 year old game. It will only get worse as the Xpac's roll on. I've always been a warcraft fan, but sometimes you need to step back and see things for what they've become. Don't be slowly boiled alive. Jump out.

To be honest here: I like the boost, I used it, for 2 reasons 1. I hate lvling :D 2. I don't have the time to level a character, I have to work, I have a real life, friends etc. and I have.. more work.. So it was the best option to get me a new char to max level. BUT I have "some" Game experience(I play since early BC) so it wasn't new to me, I know the world, I have a Clan and so on. I don't mind when new People use the boost, I mean, maybe they are in the same situation like me, but The Game should check how long the person played WoW or if he have already a 90 character(without the boost). And when they don't have a char on level 90 or they are new to the game, they get a extra start place for their new boosted character, with a short quest line or something like the DK start place. Where they "learn" the basics.
Ehh. I have a job, family, 2 dogs and 3 cats. I've leveled 2 lvl 90's, 3rd coming. I have 527 pvp gear DK with 535 PvE gear as a tank. Doing Flex raids atm with arena (started a short while ago) and a mage just dinged 90 with almost 500 ilvl. I will boost a warrior and will make him 100% PvP, before that i'll practice and duel with my friends tho. But saying ''i don't have enough time'' and you will use later on 60 bucks so boost a 90, that just you pissing on your own leg. Don't spend money on a game like this if you don't have time. I play 2 - 4 hours/day if that. That's enough time for me.
Torguish But isn't that the point - that now they do have the time? Leveling may not take nearly as long as it used to, but if it's not enjoyable and it takes a busy person a month of playing in their spare time to get there, then they probably would just rather not play at all. This gives them the opportunity to circumvent the issue. The only problem with this system is just an amplification of an already existing problem, which is that shitty and inconsiderate players queue up for raids without knowing anything about their character. This problem truly starts with random groups.
Dude if you don't have time to put some effort into your character by grinding and putting in work to earn your shit--->then keep your casual ass out of mmos and go back to console gaming! So many ppl like this and little kiddies that shouldn't even be on a computer are destroying mmos today....
I used to read on the forums people complaining from the pvp perspective as well. There was a gear grind at the beginning of this xpac where it was really hard to catch up if you missed a few weeks or maybe even days. People were gearing in rated bgs and arenas so if you were doing one or the other you would queue into teams that really outgeared you and would probably lose. They did recognize this problem and attempt to fix it, but their fixes often create more problems and never please everyone. The more experienced players seem to be the ones who perceive they are being shafted more in mop, from what I can tell. They are attempting to address this somewhat though in WoD with the arena-only gear, apparently. We will see how this works, I guess.

Its this concept called "being a fucking adult and managing your time" You're essentially buying a game then paying to have someone else play it for you, then paying a monthly fee so you rush into the content you supposedly don't have time to play. (the free 90 boost with the xpack) not gunna be playin it till Warlords. i've never been big on professions... but, would it really be worth it ? i mean i can get a toon to 60 in about a day :S ... its just, i'd have to put time on wow... (quit till xpack launches)

I'm starting to play WoW whenever it finishes installing on my computer. Did i get a free level 90 boost? Yes. Am i'm going to use it? Heck, no! I need to level up my character so that I get used to playing the game, i get accustomed to my class, I develop my skills in my role, etc. All this booster accomplishes is letting new players feel like they actually did something by redeeming a token on a character that they have no experience with. In my opinion, the level 90 boost does much more harm than good if given to people who have never played before, especially if they use it on the first character they ever create. They get end-game content without developing end-game knowlege and preparation.

Soooo many shit geared players who had no clue how to play their class were joining. But being PvP it balanced out, both sides had their share. But 90boosts were getting reeeeeeeeeekt son! Amen brother. Now let me say this, I boosted my warlock. But to be clear, it was level 85, and I just didn't feel like playing through those 5 levels, and on top of that wanted some new professions. I actually had some experience playing my warlock beforehand. When I finally got him to 90, I actually took the time to read up on my spec, my new talents and rotation, and my gems and enchantments. I took care of that long before I ever qued for LFR - and you know what, even if I failed miserably (which thankfully I didn't) at least it didn't really affect everyone else. Otherwise, I completely agree with you,
The game did not need boosting at all. What it NEEDED was the old content not being such a trivial faceroll. There's such a vast amount of unused content in WoW it's disgusting.
A few months ago I met a tank who had taunt as part of his "tanking rotation"; this meant that during the swap I was unable to take the boss off him because it was either Immune (Which happens when you use taunt on cooldown) or he immediately took it back off me leading to his death. That was pre boost to 90.
I myself have retired from WoW, I'm done with it, cant handle the exact same issues you are having, also can't handle with the elitist that want people to come out of LFR/Flex with 555 gear and have the achievement for defeating Garrosh on normal without even stepping once because they are asking for those requirement. The Community has gone to hell, and have taken the game with them.
To be fair, As a somewhat casual raider myself i used to have problems getting my gear as people enforced the 555 gear level thing etc and that sucks, but i made my own flex groups learned the fights and eventually got geared enough to go into normal modes, a few weeks later Garrosh down. now that I am in said appropriate gear farming flex literally for transmog and BOA's off garrosh I do enjoy the 555+ ask as it means you get the run done quickly, you arent carrying anyone, everyone knows tactics from normal and its just a fun day out at the beach all around. I dont mean to sound like an elitist but if people put in the work then they can receive the benefits that is the reward.
One of the main problems, people think I'm trying to get carried, using OQ I got to 546 with cape, I out dps most 555 dps, as a boomy, and still don't get invited to the normal version, I know each and every fight to detail, people still don't want me. I tried to get a group going, people left because they said I had no achieve/ilvl required, I was asking for 545 no achieve, idk If its just some people, or just the community as a whole. But whatever, I might come back for WoD or not, but I think I'm officially quitting the game. I mean no one wants a boomy pulling 250k dps at 546. Also, the loot drops in the game are messed up, its been 15 weeks and I have gotten nothing from the celestials and Ordos So with all do respect to you, fuck this game! I'm out, peace.
New players can't get any solid experience in leveling up because all the experts on their geared up alts are steam rolling everything. I remember as a new player, simple gear gathered around Elwynn Forest and Westfall, etc., I queued as tank for Deadmines and all the others. Before I could even cast maybe 3 taunts on a mob it was dead due to the enormous DPS output from the group
What I can't understand is how people will lie to you, lie to themselves, and just blatantly lie. People who don't know how to do things will insist that they do even in casual situations. Of course its not everyone. For example, yesterday I ran into a shadow priest, I was on my hunter, he was trying to kill one of the jinyu rares in the veil, I asked if it was immune to fear and politely suggested he try in some way to interupt the rain dance. He insisted you're supposed to "run around and dodge" the rain dance. Well I guess you can do that but if you have a stun or disorient I would think it would be much easier to interupt(not a proper interupt, but just to stop it) the spell, and indeed that seems to be the easiest and safest thing to do from players on youtube. But to each his own I guess. Its the mark of a child, to disregard possibly useful info and argue your way is best because you have a 50% sucess rate with it. Obviously, in spite of how long the game has been around, there are a huge number of children playing it. I think things like this hit you harder than the rest of us, Preach, because it is your job. Casual Friday(or Monday is it, in this case?) Is different for most people than it is for you, I would think. Where we spend our casual Friday in the work place, where it is obvious work must be done, your casual work day is spent in a place most other people go just to screw around. We can sympathize though, I'm sure most of us have been involved in trying to work on a serious project to us, while our co-workers, who don't have the same level of responsibility or care for failure, just mess around because they don't have the same vested interest. Or at least they don't percieve that they do. Even if you work at a burger franchize, though, if it goes out of business because of bad customer service, the lackadaisical employee still becomes jobless. Whether he percieves his role in the business to be important or carry any responsibility or not.
They either need to increase LFR ilvl to 400+ or make it so you HAVE to have played a char to level 90 before you can even get a boosted one, or both would be the best option. Id says ilvl410 just to make sure there isnt one fucking noob.
Why ? what ilvl is giving you ? Are you one of the guys looking for dps ilvl 550+ but doing Flex run that drops ilvl 540 ? LFR SoO is tuned and doable with a group of 15 men strong with ilvl 490.
the Void I am, but I dont run flex raids ever, nor do I run LFR that often, only when I am solo and not many people I know are online at the time will I go into LFR. Plus did you not just watch the video? With all the noobs running around you are going to need an ilvl they cant easily get to so they dont have a chance of fucking you over. If they cant even put in the work to get decent gear for LFR they need to just stop playing. All these new kids arent going to even have 490ilvl let alone will they know how to play their class. mofos come in doing less than 80kdps and under 100khps that is shit that makes my jaw drop from sheer terror at their lack of skills. You cant just go read a guide and hop into LFR expecting to be top 3 in DPS or HPS. Ilvl tells you who put the time into getting gear or not, usually if they have over 510 acceptable.
I totally understand, as someone who only does LFR, mostly because of work and life... Ever since boosted 90's came out, I can't seem to get one boss down in SoO without 3 or more deaths.
I understand completely ur frustration. Someone said to me when i was power leveling my monk tank "why do you save it for the free 90 boost?" My response was as i would never learn to play a monk tank right if i went straight to 90 on it. Doing that lvling from 1-90 was the best way to learn my rotation, procs and so on so i could get to current content and play fairly well. I have only so far boosted one toon which was a dk from 60-90 which is UH spec, not the eastiest to play of the specs. even with a 483 ilvl i was pulling 100k dps, when people on the same ilvl were around 40k dps. It so very sad to see. I wish WoD was here already.

i did the same thing when I boosted so I could play with my friends I watched like 20 of preachs videos so I knew wtf I was doing so I do all that practice my rotations and then me and my friend hit a dungeon come to find out the healer we were with boosted the day before and had no fucking clue how to heal had no clue wtf aggro was he would attack and pull heavy mobs and died 8 times before he decided to leave blaming my friend who has been playing since cata in full gear for not know how to tank that's when I decided boosted lv 90s were going to kill this game so what did we do we both rolled new ults and we are currently lv 86 after a week I chose to do this so I wouldn't be a douche knuckle for hating the people who boosted to 90 and had no fucking clue what was going on boosted 90s will be the death of this game and in retrospect I wish I hadn't pre-ordered wod because I don't not support this shit community that blizz is bringing into the game.

Since I don't PvE as much as I PvP, it took a bit before I noticed. Some players just had no clue as to what to do. But I sincerely doubt that the 90 boost itself will kill the game, more like ignorance and stupidity. Any person wanting to play a game, should learn the game first-before going crazy. "Yes, I'm going to play chess not knowing anything about the game." I know its not exact, and somewhat hyperbole, but it gets the point across. Wish they instilled an ACTUAL tutorial for newbs. And said to them: "Play the game with a level 1 first, before making a decision. See what classes you like, learn the game a bit. Then boost!"

I hadn't played since the start of TBC and that was pretty casual stuff I did. Then when I decide to join they keep adverting for legion and slapping my face with the quick leveling of the legion events. I made sure to level my tank and healers proper but have yet to take them out on a raid. Kind of scared to honestly.
Baffles my mind since I know how MMOs work that anyone would want this experience.
Some of us have done this shit over and over again. It's not hard to spend 5 minutes with a training dummy to refresh yourself.

I hadn't played WoW since TBC was out. Got Legion and got a boosted character. Know what I did next? I didn't take it into a dungeon or LFR or any space where others would need to rely on me. Because 1) I might as well have been brand new to the game and 2) I had rolled a class I never played before. Watched video tutorials for full class overviews and took it into the level 100 areas so I was at least on par with the mobs. People who take a boosted character with no gear into LFR are scumbags.
Meanwhile in our PvP community... getting random healers for arenas decked out in timeless gear

In my opinion, the boosts should have been conditional, rather like the Death Knights - as in, gotta have a legit level 90 to use the boosts.
So somebody can ding level 90 through questing and normal 5 mans alone then roll their level 90 boost on a completely different class and still go straight in to LFR completely unprepared. I don't see how that improves the situation at all.
But by that point, they'll know their gear is crap for LFR because they'll have raised a previous level 90.
You're right, they won't know their class... but at least they won't throw themselves into raids, they'll at least attempt to get better gear first.

Lol you're not. My wife and I did that too. I picked up a frost mage (I usually play melee classes), and she picked up a holy pally. And we sat in Proving Grounds until we got at least silver.
I've been seeing the same thing Preach..LFR just became way worse, and what's terrible about it is that they all have this "lol whatever" attitude to it, they don't like to be yelled at but they don't wanna learn their class before raiding, so they either quit or troll. And we have to spend 5+ months with THIS?

Well ranted! I myself love boosted level 90s. I watched all your videos on the classes I was interested in, and boosted them to 90. But the important thing is I watched your videos first, and watched them over and over again because I wanted to hammer it in there. Because I did research before I did it, I feel really glad that I did, because I feel comfortable with my characters then jump into 90, and just randomly go into it.

This was a pretty bad call by Blizzard. However, the bright side is, these people will have had more experience with their class by the time WoD rolls around. They will see two things: 1) the animosity towards incompetent players and the constant kicking/ flaming at them and thus be encouraged to l2p and 2) have some endgame experience at max level so that level 100 won't be their first experience doing relevant raid content, learning their class, or gearing up, etc. But I suppose a silver lining that's still half a year out is pretty useless, huh?
There is another bright side...
Most of the lazy bugers who went straight from 0-90 in one second will leave the game because they are sick of being abolished by their groups for being so bad.
But, then again, I don't see it as their fault. It's Blizzards fault for giving them the opportunity.
I feel your pain. The amount of idiots I see in LFR is intense. I'm a healer and I have seen tanks get one-shotted with fully repaired gear and instances where I am doing 40% of total heals and everyone else is doing the rest. Then they blame the healers. WELL I'M SORRY THAT I'M DOING TWICE AS MUCH HEALS AS THE NEXT GUY AND CAN'T HEAL THE ENTIRE RAID.
As someone who boosted with this in mind, I'm not going ANYWHERE NEAR LFR until I know what the fuck is going on. Show some common courtesy guys, at least try to read some guides or SOMETHING before you tapdance into raiding where you'll screw everyone else over.

I don't understand how people cant figure out how to play a class if they are bossted. Spells have tooltips for a reason and there are so many guides out there for every class and spec. If you can't figure out how to play a class you aren't trying.
So, if people want to actually practice their role, where can they go? I rolled a mistweaver monk, but I want to get some serious practice in before I go and do some LFR. Or would it be easier to switch to windwalker?

I dislike it because it robs responsibility in group situations from the player. Which should not be the case in a game by design.
A game should not be a sightseeing conveyer belt tour. And I likely won't have time for any raiding in the future personally, but I will not stoop to doing LFR. That's not a raid. Flex mode is a raid...just, and the nature of it will allow those of any level of free time to come into a pug and make steady progress. It's all the game needs.
Lewtable Exactly, eliminating LFR is healthy for all players, it doesn't force casuals into them, they can go into flex anytime (There's always a cross realm one running at any hour) since thats where we take all my guilds recruitees for gear (it's had great success at making people actually try and be interested in raiding again since failure is a real possibility if you don't, and that hurdle is easily remedied by one super geared heroic alt coming in to carry the group if it goes too long), and everyone wins, no one can claim you 'didn't try' for not punishing yourself by having to run LFR if you didn't get lucky on gear.
That mode is punishment for actual starting raiders and a boring slog that misrepresents the true purpose of raiding for everyone else.

The boost should have been level 89 and a green set of level 400 gear so people would have one level of questing and gearing before they would get to the end game.

I got my preorder the day before the release and used the boost on a new character. But that "new character" I didn't use for raiding, or make it based off "what's best right now". I did what you're SUPPOSED to use the lvl 90 boost for. And that's take a class you REALLY enjoy playing and jump right into the new content. Grabbed myself a 90 Druid, because I love druids, went feral, did the pre-launch portal quests, got my skills and what not, then just chilled. Grabbed professions, got started on them to prepare for WoD, then the next day, jumped into the new content. About 5 days later, lvl 100, still not raiding, because I'm exploring the new content the way it was made to be explored. On foot and in depth.

MycroSparks Most people don't actually. The whole reason Blizzard rolled out the boost to 90 perk was to raise their subs. Since the last patch we just went threw lasted almost a year their subs declined yet again. To find a new player who can sit threw the 1-90 grind and soon the 1-100 grind is a small crowd. To address this Blizzard decided a way to draw in players new/old in this new expansion is; why level when you boost to 90 and join your friends now. Returning players if you have a level 60 you just couldn't level no problem boost them and max your professions. This has been an ongoing issue. Think back to when Goblins and Worgens where introduced; Blizzard said they wanted starting zones that gave a glimpse of what the end content of the game had to offer. I will say that there is a select player base that all they like to do is level but to go as far as "most people actually enjoy it" is not true. Not even to Blizzard.

But the thing is that he would have to get a flex group with 25 people and do a flex raid but since flex raids have different mechanics or bosses have more health so rather than flex get 25 people group up for flex raids take the 25 people through Raid Finder to best represent this.
Having a tonne of fun with my guild grinding gear on our boosted lvl 90's. We are PvP'ers so grinding honour gear in random BG's. All of us learning a new class.

First off I am so sorry you've had to deal with this! I'm lucky to get into an LFR without waiting almost 2hrs. I've given up on LFR raiding and I don't have time to raid with an actual guild anymore. So I get to sit in crappy Timeless Isle gear :( Anyway, I boosted three characters but because I couldn't take Pandaria questing anymore I just couldn't, but those that I didn't level have yet to see any LFR content.. and I'm starting in Mogushan and working my way up.
I think when you're allowed to boost a 90 that even with the timeless gear you should go to a tutorial unless you've got a previous 90 somewhere or have multiple classes played. They just gave away max levels just because and yes it's incredibly frustrating.

I've been in countless groups before the level 90 boost where people couldn't kill bosses in LFR. There is no correlation between level 90 boosts and failed groups, because failed groups have been happening since the inception of LFR. There are some people who will boost a character and become better at the class in a few days than someone whos been playing it for 2 years. Generalizing everyone to fit the category as an idiot who specs random things and doesn't gem their gear is unfounded.
Fail groups have been forming sense the birth of the game, but I agree with everything you say.
You're correct that there is no correlation here, but it's definitely not a fucking coincidence. Mike was having a great time making these videos, and I remember just last week downing most LFR bosses with minimal problems. Now I don't even want to queue up because I know it'll be a waste of time.
Im truly appalled and disappointed with this booster system,as a pvp player who enjoys doing random bg i started to see sudden surge and influx in number of players entering bgs right after the boosts and drastically slowing down the bg and most common excuse or reasons were given " hey i just bought the boost and i don't know how to play this class" Im dumbfounded...

Just to be fair, do you know how hard it is to get into raiding this late in the xpac? I had quite a bit of trouble at the beginning of 5.3.
I have seen this same idiocracy when it was popular to trade accounts. buying accounts with a few pre-leveled high level characters. Heroic 5-mans were a pain.

I just came back to the game after 3-years off and used my 90 boost on a monk because I couldn't be arsed to do the 1-80 (especially 60-70) grind again. I've been through the Cata content and honestly just want to get back into the endgame again.
That's not to say that I'm just going to jump right into the LFR. I understand that the gear boosted characters get is crap and that there is a lot about the new encounters, and even my own class, that I don't know. So I spent 2-days doing nothing but reading and researching while fixing my UI and addons. Watching videos about how to play Mistweaver, about it's strengths and weaknesses and stuff like that.
Heck, I'm not even going to jump right into LFR. I'm going to start out slow, ease myself into some level 85-90 regular dungeons, shift up to heroics if I feel I've gotten back into the swing of things and then see where I am from there. Hell, WoD will most likely be out before I even think about getting back into raiding. And that's fine with me.

Boosting is not a problem, you don't learn to play your class by leveling anyway, you learn it by researching.
The problem is, LFR allowing people with bad gear that didn't pass the armory audit to queue. I really like that in WoD proving ground medals are going to be necessary for queue.
I'm an Alliance main player, my family plays Alliance and all of my friends who got me to play, play Alliance. Now most of them don't play much anymore if at all and some of my newer friends who are more active play Horde. I used my boost to get a free level 90 Horde on their server, and I did spend like an hour looking at all of my abilities and talents to figure out how to properly Fury DPS before I went into an lfr.
I can understand people's rage about the boost, however there are benefits to it too.

I am seriously not trying to be an ass when saying this, and I am sure that is how it will come off. But where exactly do you expect people to gear up for LFR or whatever it is they want to do besides the timeless isle? I know the gear that you get from there isn't great, but if you just hit 90 by leveling or boosting, it's a very fast way to get geared up for the current raid content rather than running old raids or rep grinding to get gear. If there is something that I am unaware of please tell me because Timeless Isle is my first stop when I cap a toon now. If there is somewhere better to go I really do want to know, seriously, not being an ass, I really do want to know. Drop some knowledge on me peoples.
it was not a question of where to gear up... its the fact that they are giving everyone the option to have a capped character before the xpansion, this is a side effect of making it that way.. not freaking possible to do any LFR's.. wiping on fcking Jin'rohk the breaker in throne of thunder 1 million times untill the group falls apart.
I know the purpose was to say WTF to blizz as to why they would hand out capped characters, but he seems to strongly dislike the gear the the timeless isle gives you. While I agree it isn't great gear, he seems to be consistently saying that the gear is garbage, so I was just curious if there was some way to gear that I was unaware of. But seriously, LFR is even more trash now than it was before.

The timeless gear is created so that people can join the LFR's or be able to accualy survive on the timeless isle as they get capped to 90. but you can mean that the Timeless gear is great.. its not :s its missing a stat and most parts cant even be Gemmed, and ye the LFR is trash, its as hes saying. not worth even quing for.
leem057 Because the timeless isle gear by itself is nowhere near good enough for SoO. Random stats combined with a major lack of gem sockets make that gear just aweful, whether it's 496 or not. The funny part is, it IS good enough for ToT, and the 502 gear from ToT lfr is good enough for SoO, but players fully decked in timeless gear can just skip that middle step completely.
Kenneth Saastad It's not always missing a stat. The stats you roll on your items are based on RNG. It's entirely possible to get a great piece. Most people just don't put in the extra effort to get the ones that aren't dogshit.
You can tell blizzard is employing questionable and dodgy marketing and game tactics in order to maintain subs for a 10 year old game. It will only get worse as the Xpac's roll on. I've always been a warcraft fan, but sometimes you need to step back and see things for what they've become. Don't be slowly boiled alive. Jump out.

I have decided to just leave WoW until like 1 month before WoD. imo the insta 90 was one of the worst ideas that blizz has ever had.
To be honest here:
I like the boost, I used it, for 2 reasons
1. I hate lvling :D
2. I don't have the time to level a character, I have to work, I have a real life, friends etc. and I have.. more work..
So it was the best option to get me a new char to max level.
BUT I have "some" Game experience(I play since early BC) so it wasn't new to me, I know the world, I have a Clan and so on.
I don't mind when new People use the boost, I mean, maybe they are in the same situation like me, but The Game should check how long the person played WoW or if he have already a 90 character(without the boost).
And when they don't have a char on level 90 or they are new to the game,
they get a extra start place for their new boosted character, with a short quest line or something like the DK start place. Where they "learn" the basics.
Ehh. I have a job, family, 2 dogs and 3 cats. I've leveled 2 lvl 90's, 3rd coming. I have 527 pvp gear DK with 535 PvE gear as a tank. Doing Flex raids atm with arena (started a short while ago) and a mage just dinged 90 with almost 500 ilvl.
I will boost a warrior and will make him 100% PvP, before that i'll practice and duel with my friends tho.
But saying ''i don't have enough time'' and you will use later on 60 bucks so boost a 90, that just you pissing on your own leg. Don't spend money on a game like this if you don't have time.
I play 2 - 4 hours/day if that. That's enough time for me.
Torguish But isn't that the point - that now they do have the time? Leveling may not take nearly as long as it used to, but if it's not enjoyable and it takes a busy person a month of playing in their spare time to get there, then they probably would just rather not play at all. This gives them the opportunity to circumvent the issue.
The only problem with this system is just an amplification of an already existing problem, which is that shitty and inconsiderate players queue up for raids without knowing anything about their character. This problem truly starts with random groups.
Dude if you don't have time to put some effort into your character by grinding and putting in work to earn your shit--->then keep your casual ass out of mmos and go back to console gaming! So many ppl like this and little kiddies that shouldn't even be on a computer are destroying mmos today....
I used to read on the forums people complaining from the pvp perspective as well. There was a gear grind at the beginning of this xpac where it was really hard to catch up if you missed a few weeks or maybe even days. People were gearing in rated bgs and arenas so if you were doing one or the other you would queue into teams that really outgeared you and would probably lose. They did recognize this problem and attempt to fix it, but their fixes often create more problems and never please everyone. The more experienced players seem to be the ones who perceive they are being shafted more in mop, from what I can tell. They are attempting to address this somewhat though in WoD with the arena-only gear, apparently. We will see how this works, I guess.

I'm starting to play WoW whenever it finishes installing on my computer. Did i get a free level 90 boost? Yes. Am i'm going to use it? Heck, no! I need to level up my character so that I get used to playing the game, i get accustomed to my class, I develop my skills in my role, etc. All this booster accomplishes is letting new players feel like they actually did something by redeeming a token on a character that they have no experience with.
In my opinion, the level 90 boost does much more harm than good if given to people who have never played before, especially if they use it on the first character they ever create. They get end-game content without developing end-game knowlege and preparation.

LoL, I was a PvP'er and remember this time. Soooo many shit geared players who had no clue how to play their class were joining. But being PvP it balanced out, both sides had their share. But 90boosts were getting reeeeeeeeeekt son! Healers out dps'ing strong classes at that moment, omg it was funny, slash bad, slash facepalm :)

Amen brother. Now let me say this, I boosted my warlock. But to be clear, it was level 85, and I just didn't feel like playing through those 5 levels, and on top of that wanted some new professions. I actually had some experience playing my warlock beforehand. When I finally got him to 90, I actually took the time to read up on my spec, my new talents and rotation, and my gems and enchantments. I took care of that long before I ever qued for LFR - and you know what, even if I failed miserably (which thankfully I didn't) at least it didn't really affect everyone else. Otherwise, I completely agree with you,
The game did not need boosting at all. What it NEEDED was the old content not being such a trivial faceroll. There's such a vast amount of unused content in WoW it's disgusting.

I just decided to cancel my subscription and drop out for a while until this shit storm clears up.
A few months ago I met a tank who had taunt as part of his "tanking rotation"; this meant that during the swap I was unable to take the boss off him because it was either Immune (Which happens when you use taunt on cooldown) or he immediately took it back off me leading to his death. That was pre boost to 90.
Why do people prefer to boost the so called overpowered class of the month instead of trying each of the classes and find one they enjoy playing?
I myself have retired from WoW, I'm done with it, cant handle the exact same issues you are having, also can't handle with the elitist that want people to come out of LFR/Flex with 555 gear and have the achievement for defeating Garrosh on normal without even stepping once because they are asking for those requirement. The Community has gone to hell, and have taken the game with them.

To be fair, As a somewhat casual raider myself i used to have problems getting my gear as people enforced the 555 gear level thing etc and that sucks, but i made my own flex groups learned the fights and eventually got geared enough to go into normal modes, a few weeks later Garrosh down. now that I am in said appropriate gear farming flex literally for transmog and BOA's off garrosh I do enjoy the 555+ ask as it means you get the run done quickly, you arent carrying anyone, everyone knows tactics from normal and its just a fun day out at the beach all around.
I dont mean to sound like an elitist but if people put in the work then they can receive the benefits that is the reward.
One of the main problems, people think I'm trying to get carried, using OQ I got to 546 with cape, I out dps most 555 dps, as a boomy, and still don't get invited to the normal version, I know each and every fight to detail, people still don't want me. I tried to get a group going, people left because they said I had no achieve/ilvl required, I was asking for 545 no achieve, idk If its just some people, or just the community as a whole.
But whatever, I might come back for WoD or not, but I think I'm officially quitting the game.
I mean no one wants a boomy pulling 250k dps at 546. Also, the loot drops in the game are messed up, its been 15 weeks and I have gotten nothing from the celestials and Ordos

546 with cape is preety low considering cape carries you somewhat, if you just persevere and perform people wont have a problem.
I haven't played WoW in forever, but this was hilarious.
New players can't get any solid experience in leveling up because all the experts on their geared up alts are steam rolling everything.
I remember as a new player, simple gear gathered around Elwynn Forest and Westfall, etc., I queued as tank for Deadmines and all the others. Before I could even cast maybe 3 taunts on a mob it was dead due to the enormous DPS output from the group
What I can't understand is how people will lie to you, lie to themselves, and just blatantly lie. People who don't know how to do things will insist that they do even in casual situations. Of course its not everyone. For example, yesterday I ran into a shadow priest, I was on my hunter, he was trying to kill one of the jinyu rares in the veil, I asked if it was immune to fear and politely suggested he try in some way to interupt the rain dance. He insisted you're supposed to "run around and dodge" the rain dance. Well I guess you can do that but if you have a stun or disorient I would think it would be much easier to interupt(not a proper interupt, but just to stop it) the spell, and indeed that seems to be the easiest and safest thing to do from players on youtube. But to each his own I guess. Its the mark of a child, to disregard possibly useful info and argue your way is best because you have a 50% sucess rate with it. Obviously, in spite of how long the game has been around, there are a huge number of children playing it. I think things like this hit you harder than the rest of us, Preach, because it is your job. Casual Friday(or Monday is it, in this case?) Is different for most people than it is for you, I would think. Where we spend our casual Friday in the work place, where it is obvious work must be done, your casual work day is spent in a place most other people go just to screw around. We can sympathize though, I'm sure most of us have been involved in trying to work on a serious project to us, while our co-workers, who don't have the same level of responsibility or care for failure, just mess around because they don't have the same vested interest. Or at least they don't percieve that they do. Even if you work at a burger franchize, though, if it goes out of business because of bad customer service, the lackadaisical employee still becomes jobless. Whether he percieves his role in the business to be important or carry any responsibility or not.

They either need to increase LFR ilvl to 400+ or make it so you HAVE to have played a char to level 90 before you can even get a boosted one, or both would be the best option. Id says ilvl410 just to make sure there isnt one fucking noob.

Why ? what ilvl is giving you ? Are you one of the guys looking for dps ilvl 550+ but doing Flex run that drops ilvl 540 ? LFR SoO is tuned and doable with a group of 15 men strong with ilvl 490.

the Void I am, but I dont run flex raids ever, nor do I run LFR that often, only when I am solo and not many people I know are online at the time will I go into LFR. Plus did you not just watch the video? With all the noobs running around you are going to need an ilvl they cant easily get to so they dont have a chance of fucking you over. If they cant even put in the work to get decent gear for LFR they need to just stop playing. All these new kids arent going to even have 490ilvl let alone will they know how to play their class. mofos come in doing less than 80kdps and under 100khps that is shit that makes my jaw drop from sheer terror at their lack of skills. You cant just go read a guide and hop into LFR expecting to be top 3 in DPS or HPS. Ilvl tells you who put the time into getting gear or not, usually if they have over 510 acceptable.
I totally understand, as someone who only does LFR, mostly because of work and life... Ever since boosted 90's came out, I can't seem to get one boss down in SoO without 3 or more deaths.
I understand completely ur frustration. Someone said to me when i was power leveling my monk tank "why do you save it for the free 90 boost?" My response was as i would never learn to play a monk tank right if i went straight to 90 on it. Doing that lvling from 1-90 was the best way to learn my rotation, procs and so on so i could get to current content and play fairly well. I have only so far boosted one toon which was a dk from 60-90 which is UH spec, not the eastiest to play of the specs. even with a 483 ilvl i was pulling 100k dps, when people on the same ilvl were around 40k dps. It so very sad to see. I wish WoD was here already.

i did the same thing when I boosted so I could play with my friends I watched like 20 of preachs videos so I knew wtf I was doing so I do all that practice my rotations and then me and my friend hit a dungeon come to find out the healer we were with boosted the day before and had no fucking clue how to heal had no clue wtf aggro was he would attack and pull heavy mobs and died 8 times before he decided to leave blaming my friend who has been playing since cata in full gear for not know how to tank that's when I decided boosted lv 90s were going to kill this game so what did we do we both rolled new ults and we are currently lv 86 after a week I chose to do this so I wouldn't be a douche knuckle for hating the people who boosted to 90 and had no fucking clue what was going on boosted 90s will be the death of this game and in retrospect I wish I hadn't pre-ordered wod because I don't not support this shit community that blizz is bringing into the game.
juggernaut1g I'm a returner from the old Vanilla days, so it wasn't all that hard to figure out again. But I have seen some REALLY bad new 90's. Since I don't PvE as much as I PvP, it took a bit before I noticed. Some players just had no clue as to what to do.
But I sincerely doubt that the 90 boost itself will kill the game, more like ignorance and stupidity.
Any person wanting to play a game, should learn the game first-before going crazy. "Yes, I'm going to play chess not knowing anything about the game." I know its not exact, and somewhat hyperbole, but it gets the point across.
Wish they instilled an ACTUAL tutorial for newbs. And said to them: "Play the game with a level 1 first, before making a decision. See what classes you like, learn the game a bit. Then boost!"

a boosted 90 is, if anything, a tool. the tool is not evil or bad, but there are many that use it improperly.
