    if i remember correctly the german version describes farthen dur as 10km in height, which would be around 6 miles... so your math doesnt survive the translation

      Well, 10 km in heigth of hollow mountain is still pretty HUGE

      In the hungarian translation, they kept the imperial units since it's a fantasy story. Not sure what units he used inthe original To Sleep, but the translation has metric, since it's set in the future and I really hope imperial units won't survive for more than a couple of years.

      No it was miles in the German version as well
