As anywhere in the open, people should also be aware and cautious about sudden thunderstorms that can pop up without warning. Lightning is deadly.

Great video and review. However, you cannot see the Sierra Nevada range from AISP. The Sierra Nevada range is too far west over 600 miles beyond the Nevada/California state line. North from AISP are the Promontory Mtns, east are the Wasatch Mtns, south are the Oquirrh Mtns. and west are the Lakeside Mtns.

If we remember correctly - those brine flies do not bite humans. They are found only within a few feet of the shore. You need minimum of a half day if driving from Salt Lake City area to visit the park. Be Safe and have fun!

We visited the park and had a great time with just 2-3 hours. Don't rush, just take in the sights. Also, there are gnats and flies even up on the tops of the hills; they're not just by the water. They will, indeed, sometimes bite (the insides of my dogs ears were covered with bites for a couple of days), but they only bother you if you stop moving. It's only when you stop to rest your feet or take a photo for 10-15 seconds that they may start to bother you. All you have to do is start moving again and they'll disappear.
