Surprised the car didnt do better that season. The aero and chassis looks great, just watching the montreal lap from Fisi the car looks really well balanced, good over the bumps and the steering looks very neutral. Can imagine that it was a very nice car to drive.
The last Benetton car. Renault engineers made miracles in this engine. The engine was a V 111wide angle engine. After 90 angle there are many problems with vibrations and other dynamic forces in V engines. Also there is problems with the cooling of the engines and with the design of cooling system. Problems with the torque and problems with driveability of tthis engine Renault with 111angle V engines managed to work thisvengine in 17000 17500. Great for a wide angle V engine Other Engines were on the limit in 90 V angle. Also Renault worked very hard making this engines workingn with less fuel Norbert Kreyer responsible for Toyota engines had said that this project was too difficult
They’ve taken so much downforce off that Fisi is almost straight-lining the chicanes over the kerbs. Crazy amounts of understeer, he’s practically turning the car with the brakes.
Renault in 2001 as they had already bought out Benetton but when they pulled out in 1997 the engines were rebadged as they are made for Renault by Mecachrome they were also badged as Supertec and Playlife but they were still built by Mecachrome and Renault units still are to this day. Mecachrome also supply the engines for GP2/F2 & GP3

That's because the engine. Renault engine was underpower and unreliable
These onboards are all from later in the season, at the start it was only a little better than the Minardi.

Really shows how far braking systems have come on! 🤔
☺️ good sound renault v10
Som incrivel desse motor!
Using kerbs alot. Thats a key in Monza among high straight speeds.

Supertec engine?
sslredes ert Renault engine.
sslredes ert F1 teams with Supertec engines:
1999: BAR and Williams
2000: Arrows
leoxcooper 343 Benetton too in those years, but they rebadged them as Playlife

There were rumours that they put the supertec engine back in towards the end of the season after the poor performances of the renault engine.
TC sounds bad lol. The engine seems sick when it kicks in.
sounds beautiful outside the car though.
