Love it !!!! Thank you SOOOOOOO MUCH!!! I love vinyl/ Patent leather! I'm always making me something in this fabric. I love collars and big sleeves and I've been stressing out because I just put a zipper in the back of a dress and the bunching is ridiculous! I wish I had saw your video a day ago before I started my project. I definitely am a new subscriber and will be following!
Thank you for the tissue paper trick. My local stores do not have a teflan foot & the nearest big city, Austin, did not have the right one for MY machine. Also, what kind of thread and what stitch length do I use for vinyl so it does not just cut the vinyl & the seams come apart? I am sewing the side panels to the main pieces of a chair cover to recover my chair. The old vinyl cracked & tore in a bunch of places.
I find your tutorial amazing. Last year by mistake I purchased "Vinyl Transfer Film" and of course the instructions were heat press related. Can I sew with this type of vinyl?
I'm redoing my sewing space and decided to buy some flannel backed vinyl from Wal-Mart. They just recently started carrying more of what they did prior to the pandemic. Anyway, I did use your method of using the clips and it worked very well. :o)
Yes you can but use a piece of muslin or a cloth on top of it. Depending on how thick your vinyl is you might need to stitch it down with a double edge stitch. Thank you for watching. 🎀
Yes! I would use a denim needle if sewing thick vinyl & a Teflon needle if it’s thinner or has any type of backing on it. As far as tension…… it depends on the thickness of your vinyl.
@@SewAnastasia would you do a video on that? I think that a rain jacket with a lining would be perfect for PNW weather and it comes it such beautiful designs. 🕵️♀️
I am having trouble with the seam on the bottom. The threads are just all over the place. I’ve replaced the needle with a size 90 needle, I’ve adjusted the tension Just not happy with the way it’s turning out and all I’m doing is making a pocket
I’ve been using vinyl to make cushion covers however when I’ve turned right side out after sewing the stitch lines have ripped away do you use a longer stitch length
I would use a Teflon coated needle. They are really awesome! A walking foot could work but you want to test it out and make sure that it is not leaving marks on your fabric. Thank you for watching.
Super! Thank you! Not sure why you ironed it at the end, but everything else was awesome🪷
I like your videos within the first few seconds because I know I’m going to love it!
💕💕💕💕

Thank you for subscribing! Boo about your zipper. Hopefully next time you can prevent it with one of these methods!
Great tips and i appreciate your time.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate the feedback. Thank you for watching 🎀
This is awesome...nowI can make raincoats for my daughters
Awesome 👏 I love a good raincoat
Another sneezing video about something I've never even thought of followed by a ton of great tips so I can actually try it out🙌👍
Woohoo 🙌🏻 🎀
@@SewAnastasia haha sneezing was supposed to be amazing!🤣 Autocorrect 🙄
Outstanding, I need to try the paper trick. I already had the paper clip trick down
Happy sewing :)
Such great tips!! Thank you
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it :)
You are sooooo adorable....love this so much thank you
You are so welcome. Thank you 🎀
will regular needles do or do I need to change them ?
Great tips. Glad I have my Epic 2 with all the Teflon feet and strips.
Hey what about those new sew tile magnets and the Tula Pink heart tiles.
Tile magnets? I’m not sure I’m familiar with what that is or the Tula punk heart tiles.... hummm 🧐
Would those magnets be strong enough when used with densely packed fibres or polymer fabrics? Worth a try though.
As always great information!🎉
Thanks Jolene! Happy sewing!
Great tip! Thanks
Very welcome!
This is great! What tension setting do you usually use for vinyl? I bought 16 gauge vinyl and am sewing to a lightweight canvas fabric.
Test it out on a scrap with your machine. It is going to be different for all machines. Thank you for watching Sew Anastasia & Happy Sewing!
Thank you!

Hi! I would use a 4mm stitch length & you can use a poly thread. Happy sewing 🧵
Great tips! I can’t afford a Teflon foot right now.
Some of the other tips will for sure help if you can’t get a Teflon foot. Happy sewing & thank you for watching.
What a great idea x
🌸🌸🌺🌼 for sure!
What size needle did you use? I like the tissue paper idea.
A previous video I watched on swing vinyl said to use the 90 needle
I’m currently working on a garment that requires a vinyl peplum on a cotton top. Any tips for sewing vinyl to regular apparel fabric
Use a taflon foot when hemming but other then that it should sew smoothly.
I find your tutorial amazing. Last year by mistake I purchased "Vinyl Transfer Film" and of course the instructions were heat press related. Can I sew with this type of vinyl?
I don’t see why not. I would try it.

That is awesome to hear. What did you make with it?
@@SewAnastasia I'll send you a picture
So you can iron seams flat?? Thanks for the video!
Yes you can but use a piece of muslin or a cloth on top of it. Depending on how thick your vinyl is you might need to stitch it down with a double edge stitch. Thank you for watching. 🎀
I want to make a vinyl bag for a wet beach clothes, do I need special treatments for the vinyl?
No
Interesting video. Just one question. What sort of needle and what size would you use? x
Following 😉
It depends on how heavy the vinyl is. The bigger the gauge the bigger the needle
I love it
Awesome 👏🏻 thank you :) Happy Sewing 🧵
Do you have any tips on needles and tension settings for sewing vinyl?
Yes! I would use a denim needle if sewing thick vinyl & a Teflon needle if it’s thinner or has any type of backing on it. As far as tension…… it depends on the thickness of your vinyl.
Hello. What type of thread do you use if you're sewing the vinyl to make apparel / costumes ?
Try a tefflon needle.
What thread and needle do you recommend?
Hi Anastasia, have you worked with oilcloth?
Yes I have
@@SewAnastasia would you do a video on that? I think that a rain jacket with a lining would be perfect for PNW weather and it comes it such beautiful designs. 🕵️♀️
if it's stretchy what tips do you reccomend ?
The same tips. You might want to try a ballpoint needle too.
Heyyyy loved the video. Question though, what's the best thread to use when sewing PVC?
You can use all purpose thread. Thank you for watching :)
I am having trouble with the seam on the bottom. The threads are just all over the place. I’ve replaced the needle with a size 90 needle, I’ve adjusted the tension Just not happy with the way it’s turning out and all I’m doing is making a pocket
Your bobbin thread? You want to make your bobbin thread tighter not the top thread 🧵
Where did you get the vinyl tape?
It is just regular tape
I’ve been using vinyl to make cushion covers however when I’ve turned right side out after sewing the stitch lines have ripped away do you use a longer stitch length
Use a seam tape!! It will make your seam stronger or sew a scrap strip of fabric on the seam
@@SewAnastasia thank you so much will try that x
i will be giving these tips a try because my machine is sowing on top of each other and making big holes..
Did it work? I hope you got it all figured out! I am sure one of these tips worked for you. Happy sewing and thank you for watching :)
What needle would work on vinyl? Would a walking foot work?
I would use a Teflon coated needle. They are really awesome! A walking foot could work but you want to test it out and make sure that it is not leaving marks on your fabric. Thank you for watching.
I noticed you didn't use the IDT. Is it recommended you not use it with vinyl?
Hi! I didn't use it cause most people don't have it.
Oh oh. I'll have to play around with some vinyl and see if the IDT effects it or not. Good call on your part.
can you get the teflon strips at Joann's?
I do not think so but I could be wrong.
walking foot is the way
How could I create a ruffles made of vinyl in front of a vinyl dress?
I would pleat it by hand. Put marks on it with chalk so you know where to fold as you are sewing. Thank you for watching Sew Anastasia & Happy Sewing!
Wo can i sew 2 small pieces of vinyl as one
You sure can
What type and size needles… please
Hi! Depending on the vinyl but I would use a 14.
Oh & the Teflon coated needles are my go to!
My Teflon foot does not slide. It’s miserable
Ugh that’s not good. Maybe try some tissue paper!
Mine too
Couldn't deal with the voice.
