Hey Tem, the horn honking thing is regulated by Better Barter :) I was wondering the same thing and cursing Rekt to high heaven but after doing some reading it was my own fault. Once BB is up, it works. And as for your Swords books, it is working as intended. It actually gives a 30% boost to your butcher class (as the text says, you just didn't read it all lol)
13:20 I'm pretty sure this is working as-intended, I was just confused at the time. The whole class/genetics system is a bit unintuitive to me but I'll get the hang of it eventually 😅
Read the bottom of the info on the expertise book - once the weapon reached level 5, every expertise book gives a large percentage to your class xp. You had 10 books, you started with your sword skill halfway through the level. 5 or 6 books went to swords. Once swords matches the current class level, the books add to the class xp (instead of the weapon xp) until the class levels, which happens quickly because it's 30 percent of the class level. Expertise books help with the weapons xp but they also help with the class xp, it depends on what is active when you read it. The best way I can express to think about it is climbing a radio tower to change the bulb at the top. You hit progression way points, which then force you to wait for everything to catch up before it moves again. So, advance up the ladder, set an anchor, pull all your stuff up, secure it, advance up the ladder, set an anchor, pull all your gear up, secure it, advance up the tower, etc, etc. The expertise books are like "get out of homework for free" cards for your weapon or class xp so that you can skip some of that grind.
@@GunsNerdsandSteel I’m glad you noticed because I was about to comment about it haha. It does seem like there’s a lot of reading and research that this mod wants you to do as things are fairly unintuitive but I’m loving the series anyways! Keep it up brotha!!
it is working as intended. After you level one of the weapons, you have to level the class before you can level the weapon again. So the books go into whatever needs to happen next, if you need class level, they will level that out before going towards the specific weapon. I think snowbee did a decent job talking about it.
Love your videos! It is SO reassuring to see that my struggles with the Rebirth learning curve are not unique! You can also pick up appliances and all kinds of stuff to sell to Rekt. If Rekt won't buy more than 3 of an item, the other NPCs in his compound will! Repairing items increases their value. 1. Small *motors* come from appliances. 2. Engines are vehicle related 3. Better Barter lets you open the gates with your horn 4. If you read the sword / AR book description all the way, it tells you that if the weapon xp is maxed (for that whole level is based on your weapon skill thing) xp will be applied to your Class. So they will take turns leveling from the books.
Time saver tip. The radiators that are lying on the ground like at 1:23 and also heating radiators in houses can be picked up instead of wrenching them. ***Horde base tip*** Try replacing the ramps with stairs. I had a similar path using ramps and found that the ramp block slows the zombie movement more than stairs and this apparently posses them off enough to make them start seinging. I replaced them with stairs and lost way less blocks on my entry ramps.
The flat wedges are the reason that you are getting the zombies crouching, They are ducking under them (And jumping on top of them) You need to fill that position with FULL wedge shapes like *Security Gate Centered Diagonal*, *Bracket Double*, or *Ramp Frame*.
I would put some ladders going up the shorter pillars. Gives the zombies another place to climb and also added stability. Also for the light in the garden you could use an electric timer relay to auto shut off the light in the day time.
One thing you might want to try is picking stuff up to sell. Fridges and microwaves go for a decent amount of cash. Computers for a bit less. I'm sure there are more, but I focused on those because generally you could stack them between early POIs or within a larger POI so it didn't take a ton of inventory space and I could walk out with an extra few hundred dollars. Really helped me buy water early on and perks later.
Been trying to point this out to him for 3 videos in a row, hopefully he picks up on it. The best abundant sellables are metal tables for like 77 a pop, then computers with both pc and monitor, computers in general, fridges and microwaves and those ceiling fans. Pool tables are great, but rare, and I end up no longer wrenching but selling the vending machines, loot chests and safes too, since I can easily make steel and forged iron.
I picked up small engines from wrenching washing machines and/or dryers. Another great video to watch while drinking my coffee. Happy Holidays Temreki!
Hey @Tem loving the series! So the best way to get the minibike parts is to wander into the wasteland if you know where it is already. AWESOME episode! this mod is so hard, I moved to the wastelands (not even the worst biome) and I´m really considering moving back into another biome. This is a 1st in my 7DtD career 🤣
Everyone else is already mentioning the washers/dryers for small motors, but I wanted to add that the engine you scrapped right at the beginning possibly could have been picked up. I've been able to pick up functioning engines and other parts just right off the ground, just the way you do with tires. EDIT: Ah, you found that out a few minutes later!
Awesome video for your questions about the small motors and why the gate is not working Furious Ramsay has a good info video about the basics on rebirth saw that after your last episode. Some good info on farming to with the light and the water source needed. @@JesusKreist : the difference is.. they are both in game as different items. and appliances only give small motors, for small engines he has to wrench vehicles of find them in gas and pass-boxes.

You need the Wheeler and Dealer level of Better Barter to get the Horn/trader gate function. Edit: I'm only 20 minutes in but the stat mods are all helmet and you can only install one at a time. You need to craft all of them to craft the Genetics mod. Example Charismatic Nature + Better Barter + Daring Adventurer = Charisma Mod, same for the other stats (Int is the worst) once that is done Charisma + Str + Dex + Con + Int will give you the ultimate mod and you will get 2 points in every skill that is 10 and 1 point in every skill less then 10.
My recomondation for a second class is technogeek as well. technogeek has the passive salvager-ability and if your tech-geek is high enough that will enable you get double amount of radiators from wrenching radiators and ACU's. You should also pick up those green desk-lamps for brass-salvage. "inactive" valves are also good to wrench for brass ( the radiator you picked up and gotten a truck-radiator out of, should be wrenchable into a normal radiator for brass as well ). on top of that, the technogeek is kind of op on high level since you can have 4 active turrets that only use lead and stone/iron for their bullets and the technogeek comes with a special ability that will help you shred seeker/hordes. the techno-geek-aura however will fall off the later in the game you get since more and more zombies will become shock-immune. lastly dont forget that HP-Ammo has been changed in rebirth and has become the go-to-ammo since it not only is more base-dmg but also increased decap-chance for your class-weapon and with the option to "upgrade" normal ammo to either HP or AP; HP has become my go to ammo. Also do not forget that explosion-resistance-concrete is also a thing in this mod so some blocks may be better upgraded to that than steel.
Small motors are found in washing machines, table saws, and air conditioners. Small engines are what you were looking for at the start of the video. Not sure where they are found but I have like 20 of them somehow lol
So id suggest for more generator/mixer motors, go clear some construction sites. And it looks like they drop from mo power crates so run those pois too. And yeah, looks like you need to get the base upgraded fully soon if kamikazes are showing up because soon those big dudes will be showing up on horde night and blowing up all over the place. Hopefully the windows you mentioned will help funnel the birds into areas they can be shot easier, I was worried they would tear up the crafting areas and storage flapping away in there. Though im sure the steel crates help a bit with surviving a few shots. :p
I haven't tried it on this version of Rebirth, but before I was able to put in the other engines into the generator, like the car/truck engines. Worth a try with all those extra engines you have sitting in a box
It's a good idea to use your NPC to mine for you while keeping them on "stay" where you are standing. They can also explore the base for you or assist in repairing it.
Pick up those green lockers and place them against walls for added support. I've started lining my inside walls with Refrigerators, Lockers, stoves etc. Helps when you don't have access to concrete and the bomb proof concrete.

GNON: A bit more difficult this one, but the American English approximation is the word NEON but imagine compressing two syllables in one with a Y sound linking both, so NiyON. Imagine trying to say NEON faster and it naturally compresses into GNON. Bourguignon is the adjective of being of or from Burgundy! So the color and region in France are linked to this. In this case, the dish "boeuf bourguignon" comes from that region supposedly.
Ell-e-us instead of E-lie-us is the one that really kills me. Like, have never ever heard the name Elias pronounced so oddly by anyone ever and I listen to audiobooks 40+ hours weekly full of all sorts of character names. Almost think it's intentional, like he went to Sl1pg8r's school of Wordology.
Incidentally - building a base that can stand up to Horde Night Plus - Turbo is a significant challenge. There's a lot going on, and until fairly late game, it's really about surviving, not about beating the horde. It was a good call not to do that with this playthrough, I think. These hordes seem fun enough :)
Its pronounced beef “ber gan yone” think of like a dank pot roast braised w red wine and mire poix. Its a classic french dish. Happy thanksgiving boss!
You don't actually need the dew collector to fill up the water container. That itself can fill itself from the rain. Also scooping up from a water source works great
Seems like you should be able to add a ramp to the horde base on the other side of where they go up now to make an easily accessible alternative for zombies.
I think if you put some blocks and creating a flooring for the bottom of the ramp like a bunch of stairs or something and help with their pathing it solves your problem. It also would be nice to creat a ramp for your car as well, a clean path.
one way for to stop the zombies from breaking they pathing I often do, is using multiple ladders for regular zombies and a jumping stairs (stairs by using cube blocks) for animals. it takes a very long time for animals to break the stairs and if you put 3-4 ladders that is multiples backup that are not very costly to make.
48:50 - You should just put ladders on the first two pillars, from 3 sides, so thats 6 ladders in total they can climb on and get to the pathway. I think they destroy it because of the rage mechanic. Or just widen it, like you said.
El-ias......its E-lias idk why that was driving me nuts to hear you say it wrong! Maybe im wrong idk! Either way love this series! I had to stop playing Darkness Falls and revisit Rebirth! Love this mod!!
I started my own Rebirth for first time. It seems harder for me seeing I get just a constant wondering horde and I'm only on day 23 and it just seems like the zombies are just insane. I'm only playing on adventurer level too. It's fun though, I'm just glad I'm not playing permadeath lol.
I'm pretty sure the books worked right. Once your swords (or assault rifle) reaches the same level as your current butcher level then excess xp of that type goes into the class itself. So reading took swords to 5, putting excess of the book into class, and the upped the class with all that excess xp
I believe to get Trader Rekt’s Gate to open by honking the horn, you need a have a point in ‘Better Barter” (or maybe it’s point in ‘The Daring Adventurer’, cannot remember which one you need) to make it work, for anyother trader it will work find, it just because Trader Rekt is an Ass.
So for the horde night loot bags, theres a Loot Collection machine you can make in the.... work bench? I think its literally made for that; it grabs loot bags from the area and holds the loot. Hold E after you place it down to turn it on.
Idea: Build a Garage right down the Mountain, with a Second Story Barracks for the NPC’s and Kennel.. Where you park your Car and hop in a VM or Crusader to drive up hill… and have a Parking Patio?
If you have the companions out and you want them to stop attacking - press shift + , - then do this again for them to resume. You will need this when you get wraiths attacking you as most of the time I found that the wraith wont attack because its taking damage from your companions
tem i think the engine u wrenched in the beginning was probably pickable so instead of wrenching it u actually have to pick it up and usually it gives a motorcycle engine edit: oh okay ur picking them up now😂
Idk if it's been said yet... steel wall cabinets are your storage friends. Same inventory as writable steel storage extremely cheap to craft. Never build bases without them.
Hey GNS, extremely great series so far, but if it isn't any trouble can you fix your rebirth playlist order, it's playing the recent 1st instead of the oldest 1st in order. ❤❤❤❤
Instead of a poll for the center block use a spoke. It's a bit longer but it's slanted so the zombies will be slightly lower and will have an easier chance of falling down
If ur gonna get class aura mods it's shock-(from tech I think) explo from mad man and rain of arrows from hunter those 3 all have aoes ie they r good when stacked -(ofc you don't need all 3 classes tho even just one AOE is better than none + the their special weapons seem good ASF

I like your idea!
48:50 - You should just put ladders on the first two pillars, from 3 sides, so thats 6 ladders in total they can climb on and get to the pathway. I think they destroy it because of the rage mechanic.
Or just widen it, like you said.
I haven't played 7D in quite some time, but this mod might make me bring it back.
El-ias......its E-lias idk why that was driving me nuts to hear you say it wrong! Maybe im wrong idk! Either way love this series! I had to stop playing Darkness Falls and revisit Rebirth! Love this mod!!
E-lie-ass! Eh-lie-ass?
I started my own Rebirth for first time. It seems harder for me seeing I get just a constant wondering horde and I'm only on day 23 and it just seems like the zombies are just insane. I'm only playing on adventurer level too. It's fun though, I'm just glad I'm not playing permadeath lol.
I'm pretty sure the books worked right. Once your swords (or assault rifle) reaches the same level as your current butcher level then excess xp of that type goes into the class itself. So reading took swords to 5, putting excess of the book into class, and the upped the class with all that excess xp
It seems like crawlers are taking out the ramps._.
Do ramps suffer more friction damage based on incline? Lower incline means lower friction damage while zombies walk on it?
Don't forget you can send Manny to gather resources.
Caaaaannndy baar. Baby ruuuuth.
T5 storages chests have the most storage slots, so you can look forwards to picking all of those up, maybe even double loot the first t5 you do
I believe to get Trader Rekt’s Gate to open by honking the horn, you need a have a point in ‘Better Barter” (or maybe it’s point in ‘The Daring Adventurer’, cannot remember which one you need) to make it work, for anyother trader it will work find, it just because Trader Rekt is an Ass.
So for the horde night loot bags, theres a Loot Collection machine you can make in the.... work bench? I think its literally made for that; it grabs loot bags from the area and holds the loot. Hold E after you place it down to turn it on.
honk a trader doors is a perk in the daring adventurer rank 1 , if you don't have it you can't open door with honk
FIRST!!!
love your channel
It appears you can craft blueprints. Might be worth looking into, if you didn't get enough out of the loot bags.
Idea: Build a Garage right down the Mountain, with a Second Story Barracks for the NPC’s and Kennel.. Where you park your Car and hop in a VM or Crusader to drive up hill… and have a Parking Patio?
Definitely would be immersive and help with the Mountain Fortress ..
I love that idea, but what if I dug the garage INTO the mountain!
@GunsNerdsandSteel Yes!! And you can build a barracks tower..!!
If you have the companions out and you want them to stop attacking - press shift + , - then do this again for them to resume. You will need this when you get wraiths attacking you as most of the time I found that the wraith wont attack because its taking damage from your companions
tem i think the engine u wrenched in the beginning was probably pickable so instead of wrenching it u actually have to pick it up and usually it gives a motorcycle engine
edit: oh okay ur picking them up now😂
For some reason small engine show up in mo power builds on shelves or in boxes. Small motors are hiding in washing machines and dryers for salvage.
Idk if it's been said yet... steel wall cabinets are your storage friends. Same inventory as writable steel storage extremely cheap to craft. Never build bases without them.
Have you looked into getting some explosive resistant blocks?
It's a skill perk that unlocks the ability to open trader doors when honking
It’s pronounced boof borg-in-yone and it’ll blow your mind. Order it if you see it at a nice restaurant.
Will do, sounds delish when pronounced in french!
Your base looks like a beehive. Could call it the hive.
If you find one of those lanterns that you can pick up, they work for the garden
Hey GNS, extremely great series so far, but if it isn't any trouble can you fix your rebirth playlist order, it's playing the recent 1st instead of the oldest 1st in order. ❤❤❤❤
Instead of a poll for the center block use a spoke. It's a bit longer but it's slanted so the zombies will be slightly lower and will have an easier chance of falling down
Poland power po pozdro!
If ur gonna get class aura mods it's shock-(from tech I think) explo from mad man and rain of arrows from hunter those 3 all have aoes ie they r good when stacked -(ofc you don't need all 3 classes tho even just one AOE is better than none + the their special weapons seem good ASF
Thanks Tem, cheers cobber.
Genetics and class xp progression is toooooo fasst
This base locations is calling for an underground garage :)
You neeeeeed to make al the cars and trucks! Just for the fun!
Hey I’m playing along but I can’t for the life of me figure out what button you use to whistle your npc’s to come to you could someone please let me know😂😅
Where do you have the mini map from ? 😮
It's from Rebirth. If you hit enter by the number pad on the right of your keyboard, you can get it to disappear and appear.
@TMilla0-b8e Thank you :)
"Berf Borginyon" - try that on :)
German Shepard Blondie :D
MINIGUN class! Lolol
It would be cool to see you do a video series on the game IfSunSets... I have been doing my own video series on it and it's a pretty fun game !!
what about using a burn barrel for both heat and light in the farm
Small motors from table saws
You can buy Park Mule books in Bristol and whatever you need depending on your level.
Why don't you have a double wide path for the zombs
Giant zombies attack Trader Rekt? Oh no! Anyway...
