Good to see you back at it again. It's tough dealing with injuries. Can you guys try jumping with carbon plate shoes like Nike's AlphaFly? It might add a few inches to your vertical.
Oh yea that's it. Even if some of it could be muscle memory, getting better in your 30s is a big goal of mine (even if im not there already, im 27 in february)
Back story: I had a 40+ inch vert in Pittsburgh in September of 2022, and then I had an anxiety disorder (ocd) take place and it pretty well disrupted my focus and training. It was bad. I ended up moving to DC in with my brother to try to mitigate some of the effects, was sleeping about 5 hours a night, and had chronic panic attacks. After about 4 months I had it under control and decided to move to Sf. During this time I struggled to find facilities to sprint, lift, and do eccentrics like I was in California. Truly it was a lack of facilities. As a result I detrained. I then moved to Florida into Austin’s town house. I as training but further detraining due to lack of access to a track or appropriate weight room/court. I need a lot of space to dunk well and that only happens at gyms with a high ceiling like 24 hour in California, or eppely in Maryland. Florida lacked both solid sprint
@@JohnEvans Wow, I had no clue you had so much you had to work through on top of your injuries. Not to mention all the jealous assholes trying to put you down. It’s amazing that you’re jumping this high right now in spite of all of that. Inspirational !
@@JohnEvans thanks for sharing glad your back on track. And I wish you all the best going forward. My next question would be how long does it take to detrain to that extent? You said you got things back under control in 4 months I assume even without the ideal facilities once you moved you were still doing some things here and there. I would expect someone with a 40+ inch vert to at least have like a 30-33 without trying but like is that only for people who are genetics freaks or naturally gifted when it comes to vert?
The much anticipated John Evans comeback has arrived as it was foretold!
Amazing to see you dunk consistently on 10.’ One day I’ll be at that level too
Another level reached as a trainer for sure!
John is the best

Did you get injured?
What happened to the bounce?
Now it’s time to get back to the eppley level yammage
Put me on whatever height and that soft ass rim and I’m there like swim wear 😤
1:45 isn't that the worst feeling in the world? When you clearly had the height, and you just biff putting the damn ball into the rim.
💪🏽🔥🏀
What’s the back story behind John not being able to dunk consistently? Someone fill me in because I remember him having a 40 inch vert off 1.
