The worst thing about CHA is always waiting for these new and awesome products to be available. Then trying not to spend your entire paycheck when they do come out. These are on the top of my list, I will probably get all 12.
Hi ScrapTime videos. I'm a little late to the party, but I recently got my Tim Holtz glass media mat and my first batch of oxides, inks, sprays, and mica stains. I'm having a blast with these revolutionary products. I love them all. Tim has been a true art messiah! ;) and I have become a true believer! :)
I am so excited to try this new product by Tim. Amazing! And thanks so much to Scraptime videos on RUclips! I've had RUclips on my computer all day and just keep refreshing my search of Creativation because I am so anxious to see all the videos and Scraptime has the most and the latest! Thank you so much for uploading these and thank you Tim Holtz for being available. These really are the best videos.
such a fantastic video You all are amazing at taping. This was awesome. I love his honesty. His education is key and tells us everything we need to know. I can't wait to get them ALLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You all have the best videos of anyone. thank you
I KEEP WATCHING THIS VIDEO OVER AND OVER AND ALWAYS SEE SOMETHING NEW. YOU ARE MY HERO!! I LOVE INKS ALSO LOVE TO SEE WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT!! KEEP CREATING PLEASE!!
I'm in Australia and as soon as I heard about these I was checking different online stores to get them. Luckily an Aussie store had just got them in. I went ahead and bought the 12, but when they arrived they had sent the Distress Ink Wilted Violet. I was refunded the ink cost, but they had run out of Oxide stock already, but as Wilted Violet is my fave colour in Distress Ink, it's OK. I ended up buying the Oxide Wilted Violet from a US online store as the Australian store wasn't sure when they would get more stock in. Have played around with them and it's amazing what they'll do, LOVE THEM!!!!!😁
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does anybody know of a method to log back into an Instagram account? I was stupid forgot my password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Dax Beau i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and im trying it out now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
I love my distress products but now you have really shown yourself far above the masses with your new Distress Oxide Inks. Shall we play? Thanks again.
love that he described crafters as collectors! so, so true. my husband calls me a hoarder. If i used a different stamp every day, i would be able to live to ancient Bible ages! say 940ish. and would be a happy stamper
TheInkinGardenSpot So true. I read a “professional organizer” tip list the other day and one of them was to toss out (or donate) any craft supplies you have not used in a year or two. That would be half my supplies! I collect and keep the stuff I know will still be usable when I get round to them, I’m not tossing them out just because I haven’t had opportunity to use them. Non makers just don’t understand
I am totally addicted to these! I don't make cards or ornaments or other crafty things with the ink. I use them in creating artwork with acrylic paints and other media. The problem I'm having and hoping someone can help with, is that the ink bleeds the second it comes into contact with my paint and/or my gel medium. This makes sense, of course, because of how they work. It has ruined a few pieces of art. I'm considering a spray varnish to seal the artwork and keep the ink from running, but I think it may still make a mess. Has anyone had problems with this? If so how did you resolve it?
hi. i want to make unique easy decoration for a baby shower. no pink & blue. the colors will be kiwi & cantalope!!! i want to make signage & something for each table thats not too expensive. i saw this vid & got excited. i have a sixxix machine regular markers. what you suggest? thx.
If you want 12 of the same colour - then contact Ranger. If you want 12 colours then order from an online retailer that ships to you. Google Distress Inks to find a retailer.
I just recently started using distress ink. Can I refill the ink pad with this? I can't find the same ink to refill the pad. Thanks so much for your help.
@@ScrapTimeVideos - Amazon is out of Vintage Photo and says they don't know when or if they will have it back in stock. However, I did find it in a shop on Etsy. Thanks for the other recommendations. I'll keep those in mind as well. Thanks so much for your help and for explaining it!
I bought the full set on Saturday at StampFest. Ted Cutts, from Stampers Anonymous, had the product shipped to him at the venue so that he'd have it available to sell. Love this product! BTW, Tedd also showed us the Stamping Platform which will be coming out later this year. He told us his is one of 5 in the country. It pays to be friends with Tim!
Distress Inks are dye based - so translucent. Distress Oxides are a Dye/Pigment combo - so more opaque. This Saturday Tim Holtz is doing a Facebook live video all about Oxides and answering questions. It starts at 10am PST. Last week was about Distress Ink - the video is still available to watch on his Facebook Page.
Per a video by Jennifer McGuire, dye ink plus pigment ink = chalk ink. Is this pretty much the same thing? Or is there something different with these? They definitely look interesting.
They are a dye/pigment combo. But they use a felt pad vs. a foam pad. And the chemistry behind them lets the ink oxide when spritzed with water. Not sure if regular chalk inks do the same think.
Yes! Nebulae came to my mind as well. There are many, many possibilities with these ... aurora borealis ... night skies ... I can't wait till they get to us in Australia!
I haven't personally used ceramics, but I do know that the oxides do not work on non-porous materials. If I was to use them on glass or acrylic, they would just wipe off.
You should be able to use them on canvas. But, canvas absorbs so you will have to be sure the ink or sponge is nice and moist. You will need to use a lot more ink on canvas than on paper. I haven't tried it personally, but it is always fun to experiment.
They are still releasing the colours in the full pads. As of last January the minis weren't in the works. My guess - and only a guess - is once the full pads are released they will probably make minis but it could still be a couple years away. But I do not have any inside knowledge.
ScrapTimeVideos thank you for answering my question. I read somewhere that they will not be in minis because the ink/dye formula of the oxides doesn't work in the smaller pads because of the way they react and work. We'll see and wait huh? Looks like I have finally to get a few oxides in the big pad... can't wait so long 😁
The worst thing about CHA is always waiting for these new and awesome products to be available. Then trying not to spend your entire paycheck when they do come out. These are on the top of my list, I will probably get all 12.
Been watching Tim for at least 12 years starting on the Carol Duval show!
The genius that is Tim Holtz, a real joy to watch! Tfs
I wish they were releasing these in mini form! Tim said there were no plans at this time - I love the mini pads and these look awesome!!!
Tim has such a nice personality. Easy to watch and very informative.

Can't wait to try, it is awesome how it reacts and I love oxidized metals etc.. so this will be fun.
I got the set yesterday. It's the first time I've been tempted to buy inks instead of paints, and I have to say they are absolutely awesome!
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does anybody know of a method to log back into an Instagram account?

OMG to for this video I swear I melted when Tim said hi 💖😀 Mine are just waiting to be shipped and I'm counting the moments. 😊 Tim is a genius 💖
OMGOSH!!! I'm getting every single one. This is huge magic.
Time to go to Ranger and ask for the rest of the Distress Ink line of colors! NOW!
Sorry, just getting a little impatient. I love these new inks!
I love these inks . They are so great .
I can tell you love your craft!
I ORDERED ALL 12 FROM AMAZON. THEY WERE A LITTLE LESS EXPENSIVE THAN ANYWHERE PLUS THEY ARE GETTING THEM A COUPLE OF DAYS BEFORE OTHERS.
I just went to Amazon, they still don't come in until March, about the same .
I am totally addicted to these! I don't make cards or ornaments or other crafty things with the ink. I use them in creating artwork with acrylic paints and other media.

These are so cool!!! Excited to play!!!
Omg! There goes my $$. I have got to get some of these (and the others too) and play. The possibilities are endless
As you said Tim a game changer
Very interesting product. I still not sure it is something I will need.
Gela K I thought the same but check out Jennifer McGuire's video. 😱 now I have to have em😀
it does the thinking for you.

Me too, then I bought them all!!!
What type of paper did you use again. Love how easy you make it.
Can't wait to get these
Fascinating! will definitely try them.
Sooo Cooool Thank you for showing this awesome product.
Oxides are my favorites
I just ordered all of them! I can't wait for them to get here. 😍
Really appreciate your videos !!!! Thanks so much :)
Thank you so much for this!!
Awesome new inks!!!! Because of the partial pigment can they also be used with embossing powders?
Yes - you can emboss these.
Thank you.
YES yes let's have a turquoise ink pad
Definitely enthusiastic about his product…but expression at 25:57 is priceless.
So awesome! Thank you for sharing! God bless!
Are they going to be available as minis
"Can you see it? It's magic..." I think someone should say this to me everyday for the rest of my life.
HOLA BUENOS DIAS, QUISIERA SABER LA LISTA DE COLORES DE DISTRESS OXIDE, NO SE CUANTOS ME FALTA GRACIAS SOY DE PERU
this is TOO COOL Tim!
hi. i want to make unique easy decoration for a baby shower. no pink & blue. the colors will be kiwi & cantalope!!! i want to make signage & something for each table thats not too expensive. i saw this vid & got excited. i have a sixxix machine regular markers. what you suggest? thx.
These look so awesome!
Good demo.
OMG I want all colours yesterday please!!!
Hi Tim! Great class here. My question to you is can I use the on fabrics? Some of my fabrics won't be washed and some will.
TIA
Distress Oxide is water based. If you wash it good chance it will wash out. If you aren't going to wash it then try it out.
This awesome stuff Tim thanks!!
I would love 12 or more , so please where can I buy it in South Africa ,,,,,,,,, please let me know I am very keen 🤩
If you want 12 of the same colour - then contact Ranger. If you want 12 colours then order from an online retailer that ships to you. Google Distress Inks to find a retailer.
This video has rewind though 😉 WoW it looks gorgeous on craft paper, get recycling those brown paper bags 👍
I would like to know if these are going to come out in the smaller cubes?
Love these! Does anyone know when these are coming out?
Early February. You can preorder from Simon Says Stamp. I have provided the links in the description.
Awesome product!!
OMG! I love these! This is what I've been wanting my inks to do! Will there be re-inkers available too?
Yes there are re-inkers.
I would like to buy both ..... who do I contact ..please
Sooo pretty!
Awesome, what is the name of the dryer?
It is the Ranger Heat It craft Tool
Are you using the heat setting on the hair dryer, or just cool air? Not sure if heat is important or not.
He was using the Ranger Heat Tool. It is hotter than a hair dryer.
What? No rewind!!??
I just recently started using distress ink. Can I refill the ink pad with this? I can't find the same ink to refill the pad. Thanks so much for your help.
no - they are 2 different types of ink. The refills are available from Simon Says Stamp, Scrapbook.com and Amazon. Or directly from Ranger.

I am new into distress. So the difference between normal distress or oxide distress is? The color changes more deeply with oxide?
Distress Inks are dye based - so translucent. Distress Oxides are a Dye/Pigment combo - so more opaque. This Saturday Tim Holtz is doing a Facebook live video all about Oxides and answering questions. It starts at 10am PST. Last week was about Distress Ink - the video is still available to watch on his Facebook Page.
What is the craft Mat he was using … same as Teflon craft mats on Amazon?
Basically yes. Ranger does sell a craft mat - which is what he is using.
Per a video by Jennifer McGuire, dye ink plus pigment ink = chalk ink. Is this pretty much the same thing? Or is there something different with these? They definitely look interesting.

Thanks! they do look pretty cool!
Tim rocks
will make a beautiful ocean
Absolutely! That was my first thought too!
Or a galaxy!
Yes! Nebulae came to my mind as well. There are many, many possibilities with these ... aurora borealis ... night skies ... I can't wait till they get to us in Australia!
Jennifer McGuire has an excellent video on making an awesome night sky with these inks.
Why can't I find those storage metal boxes on line? I found the tall one for markers but have the rest been discontinued?
These ones? www.simonsaysstamp.com/search?currency=USD&q=tim+holtz+storage+tin
Love them!!
Very cool!! TFS
Can you use Gamsol with either alcohol ink or distress oxide ink ?
Not sure of the effect. Test it out and see what happens.
Amazing!
Does anyone know if he's going to put out more oxide colors? I have the original 12 and LOVE them.
I think eventually all the colours will be released. They just started with 12 as a test.
Can you use this on ceramics and fire it?
I haven't personally used ceramics, but I do know that the oxides do not work on non-porous materials. If I was to use them on glass or acrylic, they would just wipe off.
Can I use these on a regular canvas? Tips or hints on using on canvas?
You should be able to use them on canvas. But, canvas absorbs so you will have to be sure the ink or sponge is nice and moist. You will need to use a lot more ink on canvas than on paper. I haven't tried it personally, but it is always fun to experiment.
Wondering if someone knows if there will be mini oxide pads
They are still releasing the colours in the full pads. As of last January the minis weren't in the works. My guess - and only a guess - is once the full pads are released they will probably make minis but it could still be a couple years away. But I do not have any inside knowledge.

Do they inks feel chalky after they dry on the paper? Does the ink pad have an odour to it? Thank you.
No - just like regular inks. I didn't notice any smells.
Love, Love Tim!!!
Will these oxide inks be available in mini ink cubes
At this point Ranger doesn't have plans to release the inks in the mini cubes.
Can these be used on canvas and with acrylic paints?
If you are stamping on acrylic paint I would use Archival Inks by Ranger. They are oil based and can stamp on all surfaces.
