The way you sing your thoughts is truly a delight to my soul and just cracks me up every time. “This is why people edit videos but I won’t because I don’t know how.” 😂😂😂
Hope you have a wonderful and joyous birthday Andrea. Thanks for always bringing a bit of sunshine into my day when I watch the weekly "I'll Knit if I Want To" podcasts.
Hi Andrea, Thankyou for your very helpful videos, Im new comer, have been watching a couple of months, and enjoy your Q&A's each week, that are my little weekly knitting lesson. I just wanted to let you know, if you happened to get some thumb down notification from youtube, that was all thumbs me. I accidently hit the thumbs down button when I wanted to hit the thumbs up button. I did manage to change it back to thumbs up, but thought you may get some message about it. They need to put those buttons further apart for people like me, or maybe people like me need to go more slowly and gracefully about things. ;) So thankyou for the great vids and have a lovely week. Cheers, Mrs P
As a non-designer, I have found that using Projects in Ravelry provides a great place to note the details of my work. Initially I used Ravelry only as a source of patterns and the library & favorites features but after listening to some podcasts, I started using projects and it is much easier for me to look back & see what I did there than to flip through pages of a physical notebook. Enjoyed this podcast!
We went to Scotland for our honeymoon, and it was incredible. We toured around the entire country, and it was just a fantastic time. I hope you enjoyed your time there, and that you recover from the jet lag soon!
It's really joyful watching your videos -- you explain things so clearly. I was really taken by how you explained the chart - I did not understand it when you read it, and then you clarified it so well. Happiest of birthdays to you!
I don't recommend 100% alpaca for garments because it may stretch & it's very warm! The yarn can be quite dense & heavy. I would recommend mittens, gloves, hats, cowls are good choices. If you can find a wool blend (80%-20%) that would work for a sweater.
Happy Birthday!!! I also use GoodNotes and love it. I started using it when I was tutoring math online during the pandemic. What I love about it is that I can import the PDFs of my knitting patterns and then mark-up and take notes on them directly. I can highlight all the numbers for the size I’m making, make notes about gauge, insert pages if I have more notes on changes that I’m making. Plus I can insert pictures of the finished project at the end. It’s great! I started spindle spinning a few months ago, and now I guess I need to figure out what kinds of notes I want for that.
Knitting the Harlow hat actually enabled me to experiment with fixing brioche! I figured it's a small project so I could just rip it all back worst comes to worst, and I learned the structure of brioche when fixing my mistakes!
Ha i'm listening to this as I'm on 57th row of a cable jumper, in my first attempt using a charted pattern. For me, while it is intimidating at first (had to re-do the swatches 2 times just to understand how to read charts), it became so easy once it clicked. I found it so much easier to do cable work with a chart than looking at text which I tried in my last project, a cable hat. So it seems I have no problem using both kinds of patterns and I'm so thankful for that!
Hello Andrea, I have never knitted brioche but it sounds like something I would definitely like to learn. A new skill so to speak. I really enjoy learning from your videos.😊
I gifted a lovely The Shift Cowl to my very good friend for her birthday. She wears the wrong side out. I don't have the heart to tell her that it's the wrong side. But she is so pretty that she looks great in it !
Oh my gosh please tell me other people have done multiple gauge swatches THEN finally get it perfect and didn’t write down the needle size 🙈. Happy birthday 🎂 but also happy birthday to all of us hahahhaah
Happiest Birthday and thanks for the generous 40% off your beautiful patterns. (I indulged). Can you tell us where you got those adorable glasses that look amazing on you?
I removed needle tips from a sweater I have on hold to knit something else and I can’t remember the needle size now. I never thought I needed a knitting journal until this video 😂
Hi Andrea - I LOVE the colors in the DrK everyday cowl you are wearing. WHERE can I buy the yarn and WHAT COLORS did you use? They are totally my colors and I want to make this! Thanks!!!
BLOCKING QUESTION! I am knitting Trinigan and finished the body, and one sleeve. I found the fabric I created to be a bit bulky and I wasn't sure if the sleeve was long enough and so I put everything on waste yarn and decided to give it a good bath and block it. Instinct also told me this would grow more than my swatch had. It certainly did grow quite a bit, but the fabric smoothed out, fit better (I no longer look like a sumo wrestler in it!) and the sleeve was a perfect length. I now have to knit the other sleeve and collar band. Now my instinct says don't give it a full bath again because it might grow too much and that I should just spray/wet the new areas I have to knit. Is my thinking correct? OR should I go through the entire process of bathing the whole sweater again? I rely on your experience and wisdom quite often and hope you can help. :)
@andreamowry I have a non-knitting question that I hope you don't mind me asking. I really like your glasses. Would you mind letting me know who make the frames? Thank you so much! Love all the knitting Q&A. Thanks,
You mentioned you would link the video where you go into more detail about your goodnotes spinning journal. Can you add a link to that? Ive been searching through your videos to try to find that one for a while, but can’t find it! ❤
You said that you use an iPad, which says to me that you should have access to Apple's iMovie app, which allows you to edit videos. There are videos on RUclips about how to use iMovie to edit your videos. Microsoft used to provide a rather good basic video editing program that you could use on a desktop but unfortunately they no longer do.
Here is my favorite video on how to fix mistakes in brioche. It has a super-helpful rhyme that you can easily remember: ruclips.net/video/AzrTu2t6CzI/видео.html

A stunning woman making stunning creations. How lucky is this world to have you in it!!! Happiest Birthday wishes to you, Andrea. 💖💕💖💕💖💕
I also love goodnotes and I import my patterns into it and can highlight, underline, doodle, insert pictures, make notes. I love it!
Hope you have a wonderful and joyous birthday Andrea. Thanks for always bringing a bit of sunshine into my day when I watch the weekly "I'll Knit if I Want To" podcasts.

Happy Birthday Andrea! I wanted to mention a great resource for charts: Charts Made Simple; understanding knitting charts visually, by JC. Briar.
Skipped question 4-please come back to it!!
I agree!

PS. I used a non superwash wool for the Trinigan
Tin can knits has an app now

What else were you wearing today? It looks like you are ready for winter or maybe the AC.

Did question 4 re alpaca yarn get skipped?
I have a question my dear knitting friend. In previous episodes you say you walk and knit. How do you do that? Love ya!
:)
