More than likely. Its never explained In the games what happened to Riley after she got infected. Probably why it was so important to Ellie to be the cure for the infection and also why she was so mad when she found out Joel lied
That is what I am thinking. Since this show likes to rip your heart out and show it to you before you die, that is most likely the case

I haven't had the chance to watch the series yet, but from the few clips I've seen, Joel seems so much softer and less stoic than he was in the game. I guess hbo thought that would appeal more to the non-gaming audience, but I prefer Joel's personality from the game.
I definitely like Ellie in this version. She has the same charisma as she did in the game.

Didnt ellie technically kill the guys trying to hunt her and riley down when riley got bit in the DLC? In the mall? This is kinda why I don’t wanna watch the series. I like their chemistry tho.
No one was hunting down Ellie and Riley, only infected. Davids men hunt Ellie went shes getting medical equipment for Joel. There's two timelines.
She probably had to kill Riley. It's never explained in the game. But seeing as Riley was infected too. Ellie probably had to put her down.
