Truck is in beautiful shape body wise. I love these small trucks, prefer them just the way they are.

I’m picking up a ‘73 tomorrow afternoon for 600.00. Can’t wait to get it home. It too has been parked for awhile. On a side note, I had an ‘81 Datsun 280ZX that I took in to have a blown head gasket replaced on. The mechanic couldn’t get her to fire up for about 2 weeks after the repair. I showed up frustrated as hell and watched him try and start it. I curiously looked down and asked, “Doesn’t the oil filler cap need to be on to start?” He screwed it on and the damn thing fired right up. I couldn’t believe it. Apparently these engines won’t fire up if they aren’t sealed properly I suppose. I couldn’t help but notice the vacuum on top of the valve cover on your truck was disconnected. I would plug that thing in and give it a whirl. Just for shits and giggles. See what she does.

The rings might free up and gain some compression, scope them cylinders.

need to do a cyclinder leak down test to check for blowed head gasket, smoke from the thermostat is very odd
