What a catch, though I'm sure it involved more than luck! I really expected the operation of the bridge to be a lot louder, I guess that with that massive counterweight that the bridge is pretty well balanced and doesn't take a lot of torque to move it. Good stuff, you always deliver!
How did I miss this one!! Awesome drawbridge! Yes some stay up if there’s heavy marine traffic, love the intermodals and auto racks my favorite! Gorgeous area!! That was one of the fastest intermodals I’ve seen!
i used to live in jacksonville,fl and used to alweays go to the jacksonville landing to watch the trains. usually it prepares to be lowered 15 minutes before the trail approaches and after it passes, if signal is clear of no more train coming within 15 minutes, it raises again.
Thanks for the info. I really like your channel because you really take the time to respond to comments and your video content is great. Didn't know about trains being powered by liquefied natural gas!
Never knew these were Scherzer Rolling Lifts until your video. Very sneaky how they put the rolling track on the inside of the counterweight where as at first sight you would think they would be right on the butt of the bridge. I wonder if these have always been automated or if they originally had tender houses.
I was expecting it to have a loud siren and not a WCH e bell when the bridge was starting to lower/raise! It was also neat to see GECX 3000 (even though it's stayed in Georgia and Florida for three years!
They run like four or five trains a day. If you visit Jacksonville, take a trip to Sunbeam Road. It's the southernmost crossing at Bowden Yard, and trains pull out of the yard there. FEC 101 leaves the yard and heads south at two thirty PM, there's another southbound at five fifteen PM. There's FEC 202 which is a northbound train, and I think it gets to Sunbeam Road at around noon or eleven thirty. You'd want to get to Sunbeam Road a lot earlier if it's a weekday since the trains are set back two hours. I'd also recommend visiting International Golf Parkway, and Palmer Street in St Augustine. Whenever I film in St Augustine, I usually see container trains with around one hundred and fifty cars. The only problem with St Augustine is that there's a speed limit of like forty miles per hour, so you'll have to stay parallel to the tracks a few miles north if you want to see them at sixty miles per hour. If you want to see them move fast, check out Old St Augustine Road. There's a lot of open space, so there's no trees obstructing your view, and there's a parking lot. Another plus side is a strange cantilever that has a pillar on each side, and there's some searchlight signals still standing! They're not very bright, you'd have to stand a good distance from them to notice any colored aspects. There's also Reba Avenue, which is the northernmost crossing at Bowden Yard. It's a ghetto though, so be careful. Trains leave to head to the Norfolk Southern Simpson Yard at noon, and four through five PM. Chances are, you'll see lots of CSX MP15AC's. Last time I visited that part of the line, I saw a CSX switcher equipped with an old RS5T!
a couple years ago some "lady" got stuck at the top of this bridge cause she crossed it and she couldn't get back to the other side before it went up and she was literally at the very top, that means she ran from the North side all the way to the south side then it went up before she figured out what to do lmao!!!!
sorry my memory of this hilarious event is fuzzy she was actually at the bottom but she crossed from the south side and made it all the way to the north side and got stuck at the bottom lmao
Do you happen to know what kind of horn the lead loco had? It's the exact kind I hear around my place all the time on the BNSFs and I'd like to know what kind it actually is. :P my guess is either a K5LLA or a K5HL, something of the sorts. If you know for sure that would be great! Thanks man.
Oops, took me a while to get back to this one :P Yeah that’s my best guess too. What I find funny is I see videos all the time and people are so hype to hear K5LLAs like they don’t get em often... for me I roll my eyes at the sound of this horn, I hear it all the time at and near my house, on the BNSF pumpkins that all look the same... it’s boring to me! That’s why I wanted to know. All I get here is the same boring sounding Nathan horns such as these, easy to roll my eyes at. I wanna hear something exciting at my place!! A funny fouled RS3K! A prime condition RS3L! Shoot even an RS5T! I settle for when I hear something like a K3L or a K3H or something that like that around here sometimes. I’m just really not a fan of the 5-tone Nathans. I’m alright with some specific Nathans like I just mentioned but most are boring to me cuz I hear em all the time! I’ve said it before but I’m definitely a Leslie guy, I wanna hear some good stuff around me ;P unfortunately I don’t get to. I listen in case I do get something cool though!
What a catch! FEC tankcontainer between locomotives and a strange wellcar, nice on the EVO nextfuel locomotive and the classic geep! What was it? GP60? GP50? GP45? GP60-2?
Maybe in your description instead of writing "Broward County" you could write "Ft. Lauderdale". The reason being is that pretty much everyone in the country and maybe even around the world knows about Fort Lauderdale and where it's located. But few people outside of South Florida would even know where Broward county is. Your audience stretches far more than just down here in South Florida.

Now it closes more often for Sun Rail
Isn't SunRail only in Orlando?
@@railrol82 Its Brightline I get the two mixed up
What year was the railroad bridge built Roli?
That is a great question my friend, l will try to find out the answer when I return to that location....
Looks as old as draw bridge over in Tampa
Florida East Coast still running slug engines on there power units ?
I haven't seen any as of late, good question, I will definitely be on the look out for that.
I featured ya in one of my videos!
I'm flattered, EE! Thank you very much. Please post the link so l could see it...
Why there's a CSXT train on FEC instead of TR Railroad
That was a new hybrid GE locomotive that came out, not csx. Happy New Year!
@@railrol82 I was talking about the train not the locomotives
@@midmichiganemdrailfan.4187 Ah ok, that is normal though. I've seen CSX hoppers on FEC before.

Oh sweet!! Well if I’m ever down in that part of Florida yes!!
Yes, nice catch! As a rule, how much delay after bridge is lowered before a train crosses?

What did they do to the siren alarm on The New River drawbridge. It used to have a loud warning that the bridge was coming down.
The Warning Siren is gone?!
*Curse You Dinkleberg!*
Well, that's an interesting way of using a WC Hayes E-bell...
Sure thing.
Awesome catch. 👍👍👍👍
0:08 was that a WCH e-bell?
@@railrol82 so an e-bell with 3 dings each time
Love your videos bro! What was the second unit?

I dunno how often FEC runs, but in the near future I will be heading out to the FEC and shoot some of those long trains!

that'sfec. but also northenfolk and csx run there as well. between all the trains, i say around 10+ trains runs there on a daily basis
Excellent Video!
I remember it being alongside the Busway around North Homestead, Goulds, or Naranja. I hope it is still standing.
Amazing R again a awesome catch. Drawbridge and train man you are the man
Lol I know mine. As well cool!!and don't forget Rockets and space!!😁

RailROL82 where was recording Florida East Coast in Jupiter they were like 8 locomotives including the GE next fuel
Oh what happened to it
And also when did they take the Next Fuel?
What is that E-bell doing?
So the WCH ebell is a bridgebell?
Interesting bridge. Great video. Love the scenery
