IDK if you know it, but that line used to continue to the Naples RR station(now a museum)which was originally built by SAL. When SAL cut their line back, first to Ft. Myers, then to Arcadia, ACL bought this line and the station, which had passenger service-a Champion connection out of Lakeland-right up to Amtrak. There's a caboose and a Seaboard diner there.
First keep it up also the line near me was recently sprayed with weed killer it’s a short line mainly used for progress rail testing but it used to be apart of the savannah, americus and Montgomery railroad as always live the vids
With all that oxidation on the rails, it is obvious that no train has passed this way in more than five years. The whistle signs is totally fade and there is no sign of any numbers on the milepost. At least the relay case still has readable markings on it to tell us the mile marker for the crossing. Looking a Google Maps, you can see that the tracks gone further southwest towards Naples, Florida before they appear to be taken over by vegetation.
These type of tracks are everywhere its sad when a rail line dies, in my local line, our line can go from Evansville WI to Madison Wisconsin, but it also suffered the same fate
Even on the other side of the road, there was enough clearance to make me think that was no spur, but a second track, especially considering that it the crossing appears to be in an area with no industry. Lets hope that this line is put back into service
I was surprised to see an active electric meter by the relay case. The railroad usually doesn't like paying for the power bill every month on an inactive line.
Thank You for sharing! How much further south do the tracks go? So long as the tracks remained the right-away is is not cutoff, there is always hope for the future to bring trains back. I really enjoy these!
Thank you for finding these interesting places. Why on earth would not the highway jurisdiction not pull the rails across the pavement and rewove the crossing hardware? Abandoned crossings must be an additional highway maintenance issue. It looked like there was still a meter next to the control box.
You would have to take the time and walk the entire route to see to what extent the tracks are still intact! In my town of Menden in Germany, there was a railway line that was closed for years and then was almost completely dismantled in 2009, only a remaining 300 meters are still there! But, they plan to rebuild this railway line in the next 3 to 4 years because they want to close a gap in the railway network! In 1988, the last train from Iserlohn via Hemer to Menden ran there on June 27th, 1988! After that there were only trips from Hemer, as there was a German army barracks there, which was also closed in 2006! There were a few special trips until 2009, then it was over, the Deutsche Bahn excavators rolled in and the rails were gone in just a few days!
Hey Roli who's the last customer on that railroad line on the railroad that still active with customer in the area used for storage for railroad cars not used during the season
There are at least 2 RXR south of Old US 41. One is at Rail Head Blvd. and the other at Industrial Park Road. I think you gave up too soon on this one my friend.
Quite odd, 1980 seems quite recent but actually 43 years ago Why would there be sacrifices on an abandoned railway? Thought the idea was the train would take the bad spirits away.
Wow ! I guess stretch of track hasn't seen much action since George H.W. Bush Days Mayb Clinton, but wow. Thank you for your dedication to preserve railroad history. You say that your Cuban, I thought you were Polish and Native American Just kidding be well and catch you on the Flip Side.
Hey now! You know Santeria is an equal opportunity religion. You're probably right , l mean it's in Florida and a ways to Miami from Naples. I enjoy south Florida in late fall/ early winter scenery in that it doesn't look too hot or cold. Watch out for those skunk apes out in the swamps and woods heading back to Miami! Besides aren't must Cubans living in south FLA US citizens? They sure vote that way! I don't think south Florida has voted Demcratic party line, Bill Clinton was POTUS, Janet Rena was the AG for the US.who under her watch she snatched a child creating an international incident. Now the Florida Florida political scene is mostly Republican. I bet you know all that stuff already.
All the best from Poland, +
If your ever coming thorugh Missouri we have a lot of abandoned railroad tracks and history if your interested...

Like the old whistle post and mile marker, still see the old mile markers on some main lines!🛤🚂
That milepost was a classic Seaboard Airline RR sign from the past. Great find!

There’s also an old RR line on west side of hwy 29 from Everglades City north to Immokalee.
I was born in Miami and saw the old RR trestle
Awesome Find as Always RailROL82!
That right of way seems to be great for a west florida brightline.
These type of tracks are everywhere its sad when a rail line dies, in my local line, our line can go from Evansville WI to Madison Wisconsin, but it also suffered the same fate
That would be nice to see this line back in service. I still think lines like this should be an excursion, but who knows? Have a nice day 😊🌈

Very cool find!
Great video would have gotten the rail spike if I was there ❤
cool find. Is this the same line that ran down to Everglades city. There are still some old wooden bridges down there.
Excellent Video!

You Sir need a rail bike! 👍

Found out about a rail line that is being rebuilt in gauly bridge about a hour drive from my house hope what I am hearing is true😊

I take it your are near Bonita Springs.

good video this must be part of the old SCL track do you ever look to see if there are any old stations left from SCL?
Hey Roli is the lite on the relay case turn on ?
Couldn't tell by the camera angle you took
FRA DOT inventory data shows the last time a train rolled thru was 2017.
Oops! My bad! It's a seaboard Tavern/Lounge/Observation.
Wouldn’t it be great if Brightline fixes up this track? Too bad that the Cemex facility at the end is not served by rail.
Where is the newest railroad that runs through there keep up the good work
So if that's the old AX Line it used to go all the way to Vanderbilt beach.

Would that been a SAL old line or CSX ?
How come there's always some kind of Santeria at the crossings you go to? Do they only practice this at railroad crossings?
