    o Bottom-line - This release piqued my interest, and the buying experience won me over, the energy in the line was great and the feeling of acquiring one was actually very satisfying, especially considering the price point
     The cost to smile ratio on the “Thrifty” Fathoms is downright miraculous, IF you purchase at retail and get to enjoy the full experience

    Life is short. Have some fun, buy the goofy watch. Have the double scoop of ice cream. Go fast in your car. With all of the nonsense in today's world, a fun watch may just scratch an itch, and certainly is harmless.

      Maybe use that money for something better than a disposable watch that's massively overpriced and won't even be working in about 18 months. Life is about enjoying yourself but being sucked in to buying trash just makes you a rube.

    You have the best take on these Swatch toys. Lots of fun if you look at it from the right perspective. If you want something to last forever, this isn’t it. It’s a cool expensive pair of shoes that you’ll have for 5-8 years and then not think about ever again.

    Surprised but I was able to purchase one on release day. Better luck than release date for the entire line. It was strange as I'd say 90% of the people waiting were collector's and not flippers unlike last time. Had fun talking to people waiting in line and swatch staff were very nice. Ordered a black sailcloth strap as I'm not a NATO fan great video.

    I give this a 👍 because it's u and actually this is a nice release. I would personally rather spend the rough $400 towards something else. But, if income, budget and strong enough interest allows, not too bad to have some fun for as long as it'll last.
    Yes, I'm sure Swatch group has enough power to silence the NATO whistle blower.
    I think some people forget to not take this hobby too seriously. Even though BP is a serious brand, Swatch watches, which this is, are not watches to be taken too seriously and I think fun and expressive of your own personal taste is what they are best at.

    Great commentary. All very fair. I have a collection of real Omega watches, and I have no issue at all with these Omega and Blancpain collaborations. I do not feel somehow offended or insecure just because someone can own a watch that looks superficially similar for a fraction of the cost I paid for my watches. I terms of quality, I do not buy the whole 'they are just a toy' or 'throwaway rubbish for landfill' argument as they are actually better quality than most Swatch watches and if you wear these keeping in mind what they are made of, they last plenty well enough. There are quartz Swatch watches from the 80s and 90s still ticking away (yes, I am aware of the survivor bias etc, but even so), so with some care these will be fine for decades. No worse polluting, if not less polluting actually, than the vast majority of things people buy on a daily basis. These are great fun and I'll probably get one of these black Swatch Fifty Fathoms at some stage.

    I get the $400 price tag, but who else is making an automatic with 90hr power reserve with the predictability that you'll get 15-20yrs of life out of?
    Maybe a handful of Powermatic 80s?? 80hr power reserve that will be a hair more expensive.
    Are you really going to go get a $400 watch serviced? I bet when most enter a shop and receive a quote of over $200, they'll be thinking about a new watch....
    I really like that they kept the bezel lum. I picked up the same watch this weekend, likely going with a Kingsand Zuludiver band in black. They have a nice curve which should tuck up nicely against the case.

    Takes recycling to a whole new level. Uses plastic from the oceans and then can be disposed of back into the ocean. Then take it off a passing turtle to start the process again. Genius.

      I don't get your criticism. You're saying this watch will become pollution in the ocean because it's made of plastic?

    • @orangeyellow-me1pz
      @orangeyellow-me1pz 6 месяцев назад

      @@AverageBros yeah, $400 isn't cheap. As mentioned, the Invicta Pro diver is $70 on a bad day and is leaps and bounds above this thing. The Chinese squeeze in sapphire, 316L stainless steel, solid end links and milled clasps for $100 with an actually serviceable Seiko movement. If this Swatch joke thing was a $100 then ok. At $150 it'd be overpriced but ok. $400?! For what? NOPE. $400 and should anything happen to it I'd have to just throw it in the bin and say, "Lol, that was fun"? You've got to be joking. I've paid less for Swiss watches with high beat rate movements made out of steel. This isn't fun. This is hyper-consumerism on steroids. I would not support a company like this. People get mad at Invicta for making what they feel are hideous watches but they're actually well built. What the heck is this Fisher Price toy at this ridiculous price point? Y'all are some hypocrites.
