I literally started planning last week and I'm already doing 80 percent of the things you suggested. This really gave me a confidence boost! Thanks you so much for making this video.
Its refreshing to hear advice that is not directed to a sells pitch and having to buy a subscription! Yes you do offer a course but you also point SOLO agents like myself in the right direction. I have created a playlist just for your content! Thanks for all the great advice and will be keeping an eye out for future videos!
I just read E-myth Revisited and Built to Sell... this video captured the ideas from both of those books perfectly. Thanks for always making actionable, quality content Payton!
I was in the middle of an inspiration to become a solopreneur, and your kind advice in this video empowered me to pursue further. I am confident at Figma but not on Webflow yet, but I will make my way I believe. May thanks Payton!
Mr. Clark - You have provide me with great ideas both for my business and revamping our current website. Thank You - The information You provide give me value.
Solo. This video was refreshing as I’m already doing much of what mentioned. Need to expand on my CEO skills this year and build a micro team of contractors.
Let's say there's 2 or 3 contractors working on 1 project, maybe a website with a copywriter, a designer and a developer. Are you always the in-between or do you these contractors communicate amongst themselves and move the project forward without your interference?
I recommend finding one contractor that you trust to manage and communicate with clients. Mine are Justin and Fiona and they can run things on their own. Find someone skilled and trustworthy! (It’s worth paying more for someone like this)
@@PaytonClarkSmith Is this contractor's sole role communication/project management? Or are these people executing work, that also communicate with the client? @PaytonClarkSmith
That's interesting, I'm filling up all the "execution" roles at this point, I suppose the next role would be someone who manages the projects. Thanks!@@PaytonClarkSmith
If you’re sick or on vacation not that often, that’s not a real problem, isn’t it? Also, depending on your business you could work remote when you’re traveling, or maybe working from bed when you’re not too sick. When the work you’re doing for someone else could not be done only by yourself alone, you could recommend another person/agency you know or heard of. I mean, is that really the case that customers are afraid of that? If you’re sick then the work gets done a week later or so. When the customer is still not happy about that, then it‘s not your customer - you can’t please everyone. But I’d love to hear what Payton has to say about this.
I had to learn this the hard way when I got cancer in 2021. Luckily I had some very trustworthy contractors I could rely on. So even when you want to be a true one-person operation, it is always good to have connections with people that can fill in if needed. You will never regret being prepared! Thanks for the awesome question!
Also I would add: As a solo agency you can choose your schedule and clients are usually really understanding when you just tell them you are going to be traveling or sick. If you know you will be on vacation, just set timelines accordingly
Thanks for your answers friend. I'm sorry to hear that you went through such a challenging experience with cancer in 2021. Having good contractors is a solution indeed!@@PaytonClarkSmith
I've been on a solo ride lately. Originally, I started with my wife, but we recently welcomed a new baby into our lives a few days ago. The idea of working with contractors seems intriguing. Let's give it a try! ;D Payton, do you invest in agencies? :)

By being the only “salary employee” of my agency. The others are just 1099 which means no set salary or benefits, and I can use them as much as needed to outsource without carrying more overhead for my business.

What do you do when a customer asks, "what if you fall sick or go on vacation"? "Who do we go to"?
