    I'm a very picky eater. But I LOVE to watch cooking. There are tons of great cooking channels on RUclips. Barry Lewis is my favorite, not because of his skill, but because of his enthusiasm! No other cooking channel is as excited or enthusiastic or honest as Barry Lewis. Keep cooking Barry, for all of us!

    You can make pineapple beer with the skin. With the lockdown in full effect here in South Africa, there is a ban on selling any alcohol country - wide, and so naturally recipes for homemade beer are spreading even more rapidly than the disease. One of the more popular ones is pineapple, my dad is onto his second batch.

    If you're looking for something to do with pineapple skins, a meat tenderizer! Best to use the whole pineapple, but skins will get it done. Blend up the pineapple into a slurry, pour into a pan/bowl, submerge your meat of choice. Leave it for 45 minutes to an hour, but no longer or it'll just disintegrate the meat. Rinse the meat off and cook as desired. What happens is the enzymes in the pineapple/skin start breaking down the meat tenderizing it so well

    The green topped brush gadget is for oil to,grease your dishes before you put in food to be cooked. I have one of these and it is excellent for this purpose and always ready to use. By the way Barry, when you trim the pastry off the pie don't use scissors, hold the pie dish in your non-dominant hand balanced on thumb and fingertips and with your dominant hand slice round the edge with a knife, much simpler and neater.

    *Tepache!* It's a fermented Mexican pineapple drink using the rind and skins. Incredibly easy to make and very refreshing!

  • @TehSlan
    @TehSlan 4 года назад +2

    Barry - you can wash the pineapple skin well, grind it up in a blender or food processor, and soak meat in it to tenderize the meat. The skin contains more bromelain than the flesh, so it's very effective. But obviously, it'll give a pineapple-y flavor, so only use it for meats that will be cooked with a sweet tropical glaze or sauce. Time will vary by meat cut, but you don't want to go as long as overnight. 30-45 minutes for normal meat, no more than a couple hours or the meat will start falling apart.

    Hi, I really enjoy your videos and appreciate your focus on disability as I am disabled. It’s amazing to be recognized. Definitely considering the cutter thing you helped develop if I used more fresh/whole vegetables. Would you ever consider testing in one of these videos or developing a peeler that’s better for disabled folks? I took a small chunk out the top of my finger with a regular peeler a couple of weeks ago, and almost cut myself many many times after that. I’m staying away from peeling veg now! Apparently they make palm peelers that can also be considered accessible, but I don’t know much else. Thanks from just outside Seattle!

    If you add the liquid to the corn flour and stir to make a paste, instead of the other way round, you won't have those lumps. Never add corn flour (corn starch in the US) to hot liquids without first mixing a little water into the corn flour to make a paste - again - keeps those lumps away.

      I was so excited to find out this track was in the new - at the time - batman movie, I went to the cinema to see it. I was so disappointed to find out it was just in the credits roll, and I didn't even remember which batman film it was.

    the pineapple tweezers look awesome :D I've been wanting the other gadget that makes rows (you showed it on the app), but after seeing how well these work, I'd enjoy a pair of these as well!
    I usually do this manually, with a knife, takes a while.

    To avoid lumps in cornflour, mix it in a glass with a little bit of water before adding it to whatever you’re using it for.

    Pineapple skin can be blended down into a paste, and used to soften tough cuts of meat.
    Letting them sit for an hour in the paste will make a cheap meat really tender on the grill.

    Usually we use the knife to cut foods like pudding or jello to smaller size before serving. Try that 😊

    Hey Barry, you should test whether the egg-brush bottle can also be used to seperate the egg by sucking in the yolk. With the brush part removed of course.
