The creator of numerous Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts characters was onced questionned on why all the protagonists in FF games are super beautiful, and his answer was: I once heard a fan say "I'm ugly in real life, and it makes me sad to be ugly in videogames too." and I don't ever that to happen in any of my games. Might be controversial to say, but it is obvious that beautiful characters will always be more pleasant to play.
This exactly, escapism, fantasy, *entertainment* . And that's not at all to say that one only ever has to aim for the single most traditionally attractive entities in existence, there's a *massive* range of aesthetically pleasing men and women to pick from. Also, "unattractive" characters can be written with remarkable charisma, compelling arcs and very good voices to make unexpected new "hot characters" if they're handled well, and have payoff later as the unexpected champion of a story: wish fulfillment. But going out of one's way to demolish something that is *already beautiful* and seemingly for no other reason than to poke and prod at your audience comes off as antagonistic and malicious in intent. It's so much of a red flag currently because of how much of a cudgel it's already been used, and it's directly tied to numerous failures so great, they've shuttered entire studios. It is all so very unnecessary.
Right--most games in this genre function like adventure books. Ever look at those book covers? Not many ugly characters there. Because frankly, a lot of people imagine a fantasy world with attractive people. It's called "fantasy" for a reason. And that goes triple for audience stand in characters, which most videogame protagonists are by default. Most of us are vain and don't want to imagine ourselves as ugly in a fantasy world.
You don't need to make every main character super hot, you can make the characters like Jin Sakai, Cal Kestis, Female Eivor, Jason Brody etc. They don't have to look like supermodels just don't make them deliberately ugly like Outlaws protagonist and this one. And if you are making them deliberately ugly then makes sure it effects the story, and NPCs address them being ugly.
I actually think this would be a funny way to go about it: sure, the devs went in with a chisel and hammer and demolished the raw face capture model of the original actress, but the fact the character looks like a ghoul is relevant to the plot and characterization. Of course that would require these lunatics to acknowledge their preciously "inclusive art" is ugly as sin, which is something they would never do because their self-awareness couldn't fill the depth of a thimble.
Fable is known for making you be able to shape your character by your actions..in fable 1,2,3 you can grow devil horns..demon eyes..and generally look evil..Just by being evil.. Fable is not known for hot or chiseled characters.
@@TheAwesomeness1123 "Real people" don't usually have facial geometry consistent with unmolded clay, and paying for the off-brand version of a beautiful actress seems like a complete waste of money. How the hell a game studio playing around with millions of dollars with supposedly some of the most talented individuals in their industry, can take Humberly Gonzalez's whole-ass face render and model it like THAT is bewildering.
Dude Fable never had a character creator it always a default character in which morph your hero into a hero or villain or something between. They become obese, skinny, filled with stds, have warts, etc everything you do affects your character's evolution

Yes, a character creator is a big deal for me. I think it should have one. If it doesn't, as much as I liked Fable, I won't get it. And don't take this as some big deal, but I'll be honest, that's my preference. If others are cool with the character presented in the trailer, good for them.
Meanwhile all they had to do was at least pick the alchemist lady at the beginning if they absolutely had to go with some degree of frumpy. It may not be the tastiest dish, but there'd be a LOT of dough.

I mean, it takes place in a Fable and it is based around the original franchise. It’s really not rocket science buddy. That’s like saying, “God of War 2018 doesn’t play like God of War and it doesn’t look like God of War, it can’t be God of War.”
Many games take inspiration from other games, I don’t know it doesn’t look like fable. If we’re being honest each game looks different, fable 3 was over 10 years ago so it’s gonna look different. Also you could say the same thing for god of war, but if you’re gonna be be disingenuous and say “The new god of war sucks” then I got nothing to say.
If that’s the lead character of the game, it will tank. Book it. This isn’t rocket science. And I’m a huge fable fan…when I saw the lead, I was like, “fuck. Another one bites the dust.”
@@MaXiUmImPuLsE That's not true, 4chan mixed it up with some rando level designer. I looked up the actress who played her who is actually pretty and its just an ugly version of her, so this is more like a Outlaws situation. dunno why they made her ugly, but I remember in one of the previous fable games there was a plot line to make your ugly duckling character pretty so maybe that again xD???
It's easy to resolve this issue though, if audience already voiced out that they 'hate' the main character because it's fugly then give the players option to customize their character, like Cyberpunk

Like Asmongold says, it's a canary in a coal mine. The fugly character is a symptom of a bigger problem that will potentially poison the entire game. Just like Dragon Age.
one of the big reason luke annoys tf out of me. is he stupid or disingenuous? this and saying star wars outlaws could have "struck gold" because he got paid.
I don't always agree with Asmon, but he's spot on with this take. The fact that we see the actual model get such huge downgrades is so disrespectful. I don't want all characters to be Stellar Blade, but I want them to be close to how their male counterpart models do. Example: Cameron Monaghan, Cal Kestis
most people I know the biggest complaint of the witcher by far is the combat. why would we be excited about the combat designer being from the withcher 3. even myself who loved the witcher 3 would struggle to give that game higher than a 5 or 6 for combat. If anything this is a red flag for me and makes me less interested in the game.
If they purposefully make a character fugly, we all know it will go much deeper than just something seemingly surface level. We all know it, so to dismiss it so flippantly, is being disingenuous at this point.
so u have never played a Fable game before? google morphing system, it's been since the first game, the protagonist's appearance changes as your progress thru the game, alignments and stats change your character so what you have thru the start, middle and end game differs, this is clearly an example, and honestly I'd see them trying to upset non Fable fans while the rest knows what's up
People complain about wanting realism then when they get realism they complain. What are you expecting a girl not born into royalty to look like in medieval times?
Nier Automata, Stellar Blade, Tomb Raider, etc. There are so many games where the fact that the main character is attractive and likeable is practically a pillar of their success. If the original Tomb Raider back on the PS1 had a stocky looking girl boss character on the cover, nobody would've bought it. It's very easy to be dismissive and say people are being shallow, but there's a reason people make entire careers out of designing these characters to be as appealing as possible. We know the reasoning behind this as well, it's come off the back of all the me-too stuff, the studios are afraid of objectifying women, etc. It's nonsense. It's a fictional character, it's just supposed to be a fun piece of entertainment. This Jack Thompson idea that if the women are attractive it negatively influences the players and damages society is something disproved by MASSIVE amounts of research.

If this fable is like the others then the playable character appearance will change depending of the morale choices you do. Games like shadow of Mordor, ryse son of Rome, infamous second son, A.C Unity already perfected this issue in 2014 before Witcher 3 existed. Just a reminder, Mass Effect Andromeda mainly did not work because of absolute mismanagement of the project. Dragon Age Inquisition runs on Frostbite 3 as well and while not perfect, was far more polished and devs had time to retool the engine for their needs. Andromeda could have been completely fine. As for the character... Why would I WANT to play as ugly character? This is not about spiceness, i do not expect Stellar Fable. I just do not understand why would they force players to play as straight ugly human. Games are escapism.
Luke is silly. Dude, nobody cares that they aren't attracted to a video game character. Ppl just are finding it strange as to why companies keep ugly up their characters when they are LITERALLY based on models...
Exactly. We care because this is intentional. When it's making an attractive male character then it's fine but when a woman comes up they never line up. And we have more than enough evidence to say it's because they hate that men enjoy attractive women

@@The_Glazer what is the issue with normalizing normal females in videogames huh? people need to realize just because it's fiction doesn't mean that the protag needs to be the best version possible in terms of attractiveness, people are just accostumed to excepcionally beautiful women in games and now when they see a normal women you could see in real life more often they get mad, you guys are acting unreasonable and imo it's a pathetic acttitud to have to be demanding only extremly beautiful women in games cause it's fiction. I did not think Jez Gordon would sound like that & I'm British so even for me I was surprised.Might just be me but I've never heard him speak before I've only read tweets & heard him be referenced alot.
The appearance of the playable character does affect immersion. It’s much easier to get lost and immerse yourself into what you are playing if the character is something you would have chosen to make if given the opportunity. But you are absolutely correct, one should not base their choice of playing a game on the appearance of the character. It might make it harder for some of the audience to enjoy, but if it truly is a good game it will succeed nonetheless. Plus the modding community will fix the “unattractive-ness” quickly.
There is ZERO chance that a fable game is 6hrs long. The backlash would be never ending lol that would essentially be turning a beloved open world rpg to hellblade 😂
If I'm not mistaken there was an attractiveness system with make up hairstyle and clothing options. There also was a mechanic based on alignment that made you look ugly or good-looking, angelic or demonic based on how good or evil you where. And npc would react accordingly by complementing you or running and screaming out of fear. The core of this game is the choice between good and evil .
Them only showing the female protagonist tells me when there's a followup, that's who the "canon" previous hero was when fable always did good about tying your previous game's hero and choices into the narrative
I really hope we continue to have a silent protagonist, even if I can play as a male I reckon there will be a sprinkle if not buckets of cringe dialogue.
It’s not that I have high expectations that I expect to be met to the exact specifications of what I believe to be attractive, It’s just that when I play any game I want to be immersed in that world and play a character I can not only relate to but grow to like on a personal level. I can’t see myself doing any of that when playing as the character they have shown so far who’s not just ugly but just straight up weird looking, there’s no reason not to make the main character of your game attractive. I have never played a single game where you create your character and made them ugly unless I’m messing about and not taking it serious.
To be fair, combat in Witcher 3 was a huge step up from Witcher 2, which in my opinion was serviceable but still really stiff, and that was a huge step up from Witcher 1 combat, which to me was unplayable. Hopefully they mean mostly similar in the 3rd person flowy sword and magic combat, but it's hard to say how well they'll nail the combat, given this is the studio's first non-racing game they've made.
Combat in witcher 3 was good if you play on hardest difficulty.. Have to use all the bombs.. All the different magic the potions and the blade oils.. If you're just playing on normal and swinging a sword then the combat is weak........so in other words....... Get gud
8:07 “It’s kind of a stupid reason not to play a game” I respect you sir, but isn’t this dismissive of people who view video games as an art? I just downloaded and played Empire of Ants and the ant animations look beautiful. I’m not saying they have to create an attractive character - but this was the same issue that arose in Concord to one degree or another (obviously more to it they just ugly character design - even Dragon Age had the weird proportions on the heads) but like wanting people to suspend judgement (as if this is a court case) it’s Art… it’s supposed to be judged and if people are like damn that’s ugly why isn’t that fair? Why is that a stupid reason? A game, a video (yours for example), art - it’s a sum of its parts BUT if in all the points in the video you are making you decide to scream them at the audience foaming at the mouth, like (ugly - veins popping out of your neck) can you really call it stupid for people to be like check please… the delivery is important. I just bought some sushi, if it looked like they didn’t roll it and threw it together - if it looked unsavory or “fugly” I wouldn’t eat it. The character design in Elden Ring is fugly; which is why my nephews who play Fortnite are like screw Elden Ring - all this is to say: I love your content but I don’t think it’s fair to call people stupid or silly for being like: “I don’t want to spend $69.99 on a game with fugly characters” Basically how can it be stupid to say I don’t find the game appealing to me? It’s subjective, and if you choose to play games based on those you find appealing, how is that in some way the “wrong” way to play/enjoy games? I feel like it should be subjective.
too much yapping, you seem to not understand preferences, the protag in fable is just fine not even ugly, I even see her as cute/beautiful so have some perspective and allow games to just have variety in females designs, y'all have tons of females protags that are extremly beautiful in tons of games so it's stupid to not buy a game just because it has variety in female design. You can not like that design but there is nothing wrong with it and totally acceptable, even healthy imo, normalize more diverse females in games, as long as the game is good who cares?,simple

I don't wanna play a game where I'm staring at something ugly. Like I'm fine with a more plain character like the new ghosts of yotae girl but the Fable character is genuinely ugly. Especially in an RPG that puts me off.
The entire point of fable games is that your appearence changes based on your choices, i think it would be good if you start funny looking and change as you advance in th game.
Luke, you usually have good takes, but a fugly character is 100% a good reason not to buy a game. Extrapolate from the symptoms the possible problems a game might have due to certain priorities. You are a smart, if sometimes overly gracious, man. There are many good, if older games available in any Steam backlog.
I was so surprised that he said that. You can see me on chat at 8:22 say I disagree 1000%, and I always will. Had he said "It's not the best reason in the world..." Ok, granted, but it's specifically a bad reason? A stupid reason? Come on man, I thought you were the guy with reasonable takes, and that isn't. I'm glad he knows the writing in recent games has been shit, but the main character is your window into that world, they need to be appealing too, and this one isn't. And for that matter there are thousands and thousands of games out there where "your standards can be that precise", I have no idea what he's talking about. Every single game with a character creator for example, (except Dragon Age Veilguard). You can be ugly if you want, but why would you? There's a reason everyone tries to make attractive characters. (unless you're trolling like Az's DA character, haha) And no, I didn't play Bully, because the kid is a goonish little shit, and I never saw anything remotely appealing about the story. There's faaar too many games out there, far too many in my Steam backlog to waste one second on a game that hasn't done everything in its power to appeal to me. That isn't entitlement, just a fact. To be honest, based on the trailer and visual fidelity, I would bet a 20 sac that the same toxic positivity and sterilazation we seen in Vielguard is also in Fable. I honestly hope I'm wrong. We'll see when they reveal more information.
With MC Butterface and the head of Xbox studios saying this is a fable for “modern audiences”. There are all the hallmarks of preachy left wing political horseshit. I’m gonna have to have my expectations drastically subverted with this game to be on board 🤔🤷♂️
Has anyone mentioned that fable games have never had a created character? Yea you can choose you gender and upgrade certain attributes that increase your height or muscularity but that’s it
Coming from a guy who has played all the fable games multiple times and even sunk a bunch of hours into fable legends before it was shut down: The problem with the reveal was the IT crowd guy looks exactly like himself but the woman didnt look like the actress at all, especially with the side profile. If you hear what hes saying in the first trailer, they mention heroes with disproportionally high cheek bones, which is generally thought of as a sign of beauty. She then turns around and looks unattractive which makes it seem like its meant to be a joke that she is bucking that trend. The second trailer describes her as almost every girl boss we've gotten in these terrible movies lately. The problem with a reveal having a unattractive character and making a point of it is that it had to go through multiple levels and get approved. They know that character will be on all the marketing and on all the sites and videos talking about it. It also is a sort of canary to how they will approach the rest of the game. A ideology that generally looks down on beautiful women. Add girl boss being the main focus of the next trailer, it is a red flag. To be fair, the second trailer seemed to improve the main chick characters face, but that was after big backlash. If older fables are to go off of, there will be a male and female, with you able to give your character scars and new clothes. People afterwards tried to say you can do a character creator in old games and those people obviously havent ever played a fable game and were just trying to defend the game. People then tried to say your character is always ugly in fable which is also false. Look at fable 3, your chick is super hot. Its something to watch out for. I hope the game is good. But its worrying. Also, i like jez but he tends to glaze xbox games.
The narration of the second trailer wasn't about the MC though, it was setting up an antagonist (whether that's just one of many or the only one we don't yet know). It was to play up the choices the characters (you) can make and how that which can make for a great hero can also make for a terrifying villain. It wasn't explicitly about "what a girlboss" but more so how "this person I taught had all the right stuff and still turned out evil," as evidenced by the end of the trailer.
@@cloudstrife2878 lmao No, my guy, he literally is not. I think you are forgetting the end to that trailer. It's a bog-standard framing device - have narration over visuals of one character to make you think that's the topic of the voice over, then at the end reveal that it's actually about someone else. It's even a quick and easy to understand shorthand to show how the protag and villain are more alike than they might otherwise think. That's why after a whole trailer extoling the skills and terror of a female student, the MC then tells Humphrey that "*She's* here" and they have a brief face off to cap the end.
@DethWulf yes I just watched it again. Framing that in that way only works if you suggest she has those virtues too. Thats the whole point of the trailer. She is all of those things too, but there's a villain who made the wrong choices. Pretty common set up in fantasy. It still suggests your character is a girl boss.
@@cloudstrife2878 I see how you could read it that way, but I would argue that's not how that framing is typically used. In fact it kind of does the opposite - we're lead to believe she has these qualities, but when it's revealed that the voice over (Humphrey) is talking about someone else, then what are we left with? So while it might imply she possesses the same qualities, it's not an explicit argument. My whole point is that the trailer isn't trying to set up some "girlboss" or mary sue kind of character, simply that it was playing into arguably the core tenet of Fable in that us the player are capable of both great good and great evil. It was less about selling us on the character and more about selling us on the narrative.
Playing the game for Richard Ayoade, also a huge fan of the IT crowd. Plus, knowing now that the combat kinda plays like the witcher games, I'm looking forward to it.
Humans on a fundamental level want to look at cool or attractive stuff. That's how we're built, we're attracted to beauty. (Cool Cars, paintings, beautiful people or scenery). Not wanting to play a game where you're stuck looking at a fugly character for dozens of hours is not "a stupid reason" dude.
IMO It's not that the character isnt attractive enough. It's that the character just doesn't look like someone you want to play. There is so many examples of characters that just look cool or interesting which drives excitement to control said character.
The graphics and animations are phenomenal. It looks fun to play from what they have shown so far. If they give us the possibility to customize our main character and it won't be as limited and ugly as Veilguard, this RPG will guarantee to be the best.
Stellar Blade, Bayonetta, Nier Automata, Genshin Impact, Zenless Zone Zero, The First Descendant... ALL of these games would have been played by less people if it wasn't for their attractive character designs. Denying this is foolish.
I'm interested to see if the game allows you to be really evil and whether the decisions will impact your character. I'm also not sure if the new style fits the tone of Fable and if that tone moves towards The Witcher, it would be miles away from what Fable is.
I feel like if the writing is solid enough and they aren't afraid to play into the MCs ugliness with jokes and such, it could be a charming point for the game. Doubt they'll dare stepping outside the political correct with that, but still. Although, I don't think female players will be very happy with that character regardless.
If I can't make my own character extremely likely I won't buy it. My favorite part of fable was making my character and turning them evil or good etc etc. If I can choose a guy I will be okay with that.
Peter Molyneux (Populous, Theme Park....16-bit era) may have been the person he spoke too as Peter was the man who created Fable way back. Where are you Geoff Crammond, we need you back in the games industry make a new Stunt Car Racer!
i do think thats a bad take that " if u dont like how the character looks ur reason is dumb " cause presentation is what gets people to be interested its literally the same as people not wanting to play something because they dont like the look of 8bit or they dont like cell shading etc if you dont like the presentation of the game dont play it
To be fair, I want my character that I'm playing to be cool and attractive, male or female. I saw the reveal of the girl in the fable trailer was meant to be a joke punchline, like "look at this chick, she's a hero?"
I swear, that looks like they used the same character model from another one of these "you cant have attractive female characters" games that was posted around this year. Can't remember which one, might have been this one fir all i know.
Fable never had a character is just had default characters that will change depends on the actions on the game. You eat your character becomes obese, you eat too many vegetables then your character will have too many warts, you can get pregnant or kill your spouse to become a widow and make your child become an orphan.
Lol. Traditionally beautiful is not a euphemism for ugly. It literally means beautiful like a toothpaste ad, normal beautiful. I think you can just say she’s “unattractive”. It’s okay. I’m guessing there’s a reason.
Hey, the Witcher 3 doesn't have Fugly characters, and it was made by CD Projekt Red so guess what I am going to replay! Love how they somehow think that a mediocre product with worse character's will somehow sell, when their competition is a game from 2015. Anyone wondering you can get the Witcher 3 for like $3, try getting Fable for that much.
Go outside instead maybe lol, its extremely clear from your comment alone that you're lack female attention. You know like irl.. 😂 You don't need another play through of the witcher, if anything thats the last thing you need.
so you mad they are not trying to manipulate you putting an "attractive" female just so you buy, and they rely on the quality of the game instead? It shows more confidence than anything, what they are doing with the female character

@MisterMonsterMan I think it looks great visually (which might be a bad thing if it ends up like Hell blade 2). I liked the humor in the trailers so far, especially the dark undertones of the newest trailer. Also, I liked Fable back in the day even if it does not hold up very well.
@@MisterMonsterMan I mean, the game has looked really good when it has been shown. The graphics are some of the best I have seen and the humor is good. Sounds like fable 2/3 combat, which was very fluid from switching between the 3 'classes'. honestly, I don't understand the character hate that's going on. ive come for the gameplay, and the story.
People complain about wanting realism then when they get realism, they complain. What are you expecting a girl not born into royalty to look like in medieval times?
In a game that is supposed to be an absurd parody of a RPG, why would someone want a sexy protagonist ? No shame in that in itself ! But wouldn't that be weird to see your sexy character act like a goofball and be ridiculed through slapstick comedy ? Because that's what Fable is. Witcher 3 is one of the greatest games of all time. The dlc writing being some of the most amazing story work in the last 15 years or more but that’s not what fable was tonally so who knows how this will turn out. Maybe they’ll remember to keep some of what made fable fable.
Luke, great info as always! love your aspect on everything video games. You have taught me a lot about video as well lol. Your lighting as well as how to properly capture footage, I’m an audio engineer so the video side of things were foreign to me. So just wanted to say thank you. Also just a quick heads if you didn’t already know, there’s a slight rumble or buzz on your mic whenever you speak. Maybe the noise gate or a bad connection somewhere it’s not very noticeable even when wearing headphones, I almost missed it too. Nothing I’m even complaining about. I just know you are a perfectionist and wanted to lyk. Didn’t take away from getting me all pumped up about Fable. Especially after learning they have CDPR people working with them on the combat proves to me that these guys know their engine very welll and they know where their weak spots. Bringing not only veterans but ones it’s proven track records. I have a feeling this is either gonna be one of playground games biggest hits and fables come back to mainstream. Or it’s gonna turn out to be like The Order 1886 or whatever the title of that game is lol
Playground games makes the Forza Horizon games..turn 10 makes Forza motorsport.. And both studios work on the engine.. I'm definitely looking forward to see what Forzatech can do in an open world adventure game... As a huge fan of the fable series..definitely liking the things I'm seeing and hearing.
We don't know the story. She could have been a lowly urchin that someone how became a great warrior. From the brief conversations in the trailer it doesn't appear like "high society" looks down on her but that could be to everyone. Hard to tell. I don't mind how she looks at all. It gives writers a lot more material to work with when it comes to "beauty standards". Give me a great personality and I'm hooked. "Beautiful people" tend to be way too obnoxious and too full of themselves. Give me scenes where she's trying on new armor and her butts too big. It humanises the character and much more relatable. Hopefully they don't go down the "ugly duckling" route because I'll throw my PC across the room. I welcome this.
I mean the Witcher 3 was great but it's not exactly the standard for melee combat. Would still be a big improvement though, Fable has never had good combat
I mean I heard that witcher 3 combat was way better than 2 so hopefully the combat designer keeps improving and elevating his craft, people can become amazing at thinghs improving with time and experience

Thats sad for him i guess

And if you are making them deliberately ugly then makes sure it effects the story, and NPCs address them being ugly.
I actually think this would be a funny way to go about it: sure, the devs went in with a chisel and hammer and demolished the raw face capture model of the original actress, but the fact the character looks like a ghoul is relevant to the plot and characterization.
Of course that would require these lunatics to acknowledge their preciously "inclusive art" is ugly as sin, which is something they would never do because their self-awareness couldn't fill the depth of a thimble.

because thats the only way the activist class is able to trick a large audience
Because AAA companies are creatively bankrupt and they can only ride off established IPs

Many games take inspiration from other games, I don’t know it doesn’t look like fable. If we’re being honest each game looks different, fable 3 was over 10 years ago so it’s gonna look different. I respect you sir, but isn’t this dismissive of people who view video games as an art?
The character design in Elden Ring is fugly; which is why my nephews who play Fortnite are like screw Elden Ring - all this is to say: I love your content but I don’t think it’s fair to call people stupid or silly for being like: “I don’t want to spend $69.99 on a game with fugly characters”
Basically how can it be stupid to say I don’t find the game appealing to me? It’s subjective, and if you choose to play games based on those you find appealing, how is that in some way the “wrong” way to play/enjoy games? I feel like it should be subjective.

We don't know a single bad sign about the game yet appart from y'all reason that the female is not attractive enough, wich does not determine the quality of the game so just shut up and don't jump to conclusions cause you can't goon over the latest female character in a game you can skip
@@Yuuki_Asunadude I have seen you yapping in many of the replies. Why so serious? Talking about goon and what not. Dude most of the AAA games coming out are so sanitized so it's not wrong for people to assume for it to be slop. Plus it's coming from Microsoft, the king of taking Ls in recent years. It's also fair to assume it's subsidiaries will have the same corpo work culture. You're talking about making change? How about holding microsoft accountable for their dogshit 18 month contract basis work culture (one of the major reasons for their games turning out slop)
Ain't even about the ugly it about most are Men i want to play ad me a man it a role playing game so other wise im going to pc and mod to be a man
You’re just parroting the opinion of other people. Think for yourself.
Ppl forget your hero would grow or regress in attractiveness and get scars from combat so maybe its the same for Ms. fugly
It’s definitely a deal breaker for a lot of people.
Not having a character creator is stupid.
Yea you can choose you gender and upgrade certain attributes that increase your height or muscularity but that’s it
12:00 Frostbite was also used in Dragon Age Inquisition. Did not experience even a fraction of the issues that Andromeda did
Coming from a guy who has played all the fable games multiple times and even sunk a bunch of hours into fable legends before it was shut down:
The problem with the reveal was the IT crowd guy looks exactly like himself but the woman didnt look like the actress at all, especially with the side profile.
@DethWulf hes talking about his experience with the main chick character and how she's so amazing and terrifying.
Main character looks like it's from nightmare and not fable
"witcher like combat" is not a confidence inspiring string of words
I just really hope we can choose the gender of our character like in fable 2 and 3, even better if we had a full on character creator
Jez is not a reliable source
Character can be the hottest thing in the world and I'll still prefer an option to cover it in armour /w helmet or face covering
Honestly if they'd go back and embrass the original concept, they'd include a character creator and make it a build your own hero/villain ARPG.
I have never thought Witcher Combat was better than serviceable. This could be said about all three games. They are all fine in that area.
Main character doesn't have to be pretty but has to have charisma so you care about them....¬ be boring af
If the game is so good that i will have to play a fugly character then i will just wait for sale and mods before i play
If I can't make my own character extremely likely I won't buy it. My favorite part of fable was making my character and turning them evil or good etc etc. If I can choose a guy I will be okay with that.
It'll have dialogue like dragon age veilguard for sure.
People for some reason tend to forget that it's called attractive because it attracts.
Peter Molyneux (Populous, Theme Park....16-bit era) may have been the person he spoke too as Peter was the man who created Fable way back. Where are you Geoff Crammond, we need you back in the games industry make a new Stunt Car Racer!
i do think thats a bad take that " if u dont like how the character looks ur reason is dumb "
cause presentation is what gets people to be interested
its literally the same as people not wanting to play something because they dont like the look of 8bit or they dont like cell shading etc
if you dont like the presentation of the game dont play it
To be fair, I want my character that I'm playing to be cool and attractive, male or female.
I saw the reveal of the girl in the fable trailer was meant to be a joke punchline, like "look at this chick, she's a hero?"
His last name is pronounced "Aye-oh-ah-day" =) And yes, IT Crowd is amazing. Who dies in a fire at a Sea Parks?
i Hope they get the writing done really well and funny.
The guy that does these videos looks like the target audience for Dragon Age and Concorde.
Its called photorealism people, we dont look as good as designed characters. Fable never had good looking characters, but it does have a style.
Making a character ugly on purpose is where the problem is.
@@Yuuki_Asunabro that’s like saying that making half the screen black is a sign of confidence because you’ll enjoy the half you can see so much lol. A sign of confidence can still be a shit decision
@@Donnie_Oculus Clearly you've never seen a woman if you think that the fable character is beautiful.
@@noamias4897 I'm making a comparison so he sees the absurdity of his take bro, comprehend better. It is not meant to be serious
Plot twist: This is the male character
This is one of the games I am most excited for next year. I still would want to see extended gameplay of course, but this has alot of potential!
Most people are leaning the other way on this one. What potential are you seeing that others cant see? Id like to be optimistic too as I loved the last few but Im coming up bare here.
The only “hang up” seems to be the main character being ugly or whatever, and there are multiple characters you can choose from. I mean, what doesn’t look promising about it?
If people don't mind it's okay, but I personally think more "realistic" characters with an awkward demeanour work better for those types of games
Character doesn’t need to be attractive but they need to not make you want to skip cutscenes. A plain average character is fine.
Imagine missing out on a good game because you aren't attracted to the character you play as.
I fucking love Fable!
I haven't been this hyped since Ragnarock. God I hope they nail this. Hopefully with xboxs strategy moving forward they'll release this on ps5
@ I personally thought TW3’s reputation was a little overrated (some of it because of studio resources, some of it because of design), but now that they have TW3 and CP2077 money behind them, plus a decade more experience, I’m really excited to see what they can do with TW4
That doesn’t mean the combat is going to be like The Witcher 3
