- A school suspended a 16-year-old student for three days after he posed a question in class regarding the term "illegal aliens." The school stated that his question was equivalent to a racial slur. As a result, the Liberty Justice Center filed a lawsuit against the Davidson County School Board for violating Christian McGhee's rights to free speech, education and due process. His mother, Leah McGhee, tells NewsNation that the racism label was unfairly applied to her son, who will soon be applying to colleges.

As a teacher I find this absurd. Yet they won't ban cell phones or suspend kids for being disrespectful to teachers or other kids. I am glad the parents are suing.

The teen should 1 name the teacher and demand she be fired 2 name the student who threatened him in order that he be suspended and removed from that high school.
Sue the school for 1st amendment violation. College plus will be free. Then get a restraining order against the kid who threatened him.

As a retired teacher, what makes me sick is the fact that his English teacher or language arts or whatever the heck you wanna call it had to initiate some sort of action unless they were supposed to read the paper out loud the paper papers between him and the language arts teacher. As a former NC resident. it is very sad to see what was a very Conservative (Red) area like Davidson County, has now been polluted with Loony Lefty ideology. The school principal MUST be removed, a formal & public apology MUST be issued by the School District, and the family should be compensated for their abuse and trauma.

Our own government used the term “illegal aliens” until a few years ago. “Illegal alien” was the term used in debates during the last election - it wasn’t until 2021 that the term was replaced, officially, at a federal level. I don’t hold a 16 year old child to the standard of knowing every proper term for a dicey legal situation, and even comparing this, as his school did in a later statement, to a student calling another person the N word is totally absurd.
It is apaulling that schools get away with bullying students because they said something that the teacher did not agree with. He was asking a question. Isn't that what happens in a classroom? I hope the lawyer makes this school an example of what happens when school officials bully a student!!
That question was a perfect opportunity for conversation, not suspension. This is a school, what happened to teaching? Mom is absolutely doing the right thing from what seems to have happened. That being said, there are two sides to a story and we only heard one side here. I would be interested to hear what the school has to say. But that won’t happen.

(d) Immigration-related entrepreneurship fraud
Any individual who knowingly establishes a commercial enterprise for the purpose of evading any provision of the immigration laws shall be imprisoned for not more than 5 years, fined in accordance with title 18, or both.

I don't know how much funding schools in NC get for each student , but I know that in Minnesota it costs more Than $14,000 per child per year , so if you add up all the Illegal Alien children that is huge money , do you think these School Boards want to protect that funding ? Asking about illegal immigrants is not racist, it's what they are. Now if he was bullying someone because of them being illegal then that's different. That would be a racist act. If the school is so strict on what and how a subject should be talked, then how about not talking about it in the first place and then punishing the kid's because of how they phrase it. But until they say what the question is, then all we can do is speculate.

The kid certainly did invent the term. Christian schools are notorious for singling out kids and parents who don't precisely fall in line. If it had been the kid of a long time rich donor nothing would have been done. New kid on the block gets instantly axed!
From the school's website: "The Davidson County Schools Board of Education believes all students and employees should be free of unlawful discrimination, harassment, including sexual harassment, and bullying as part of safe, orderly and inviting learning/working environments."
It is being reported that: "Having been branded as a racist by his school, Christian’s return was met with ostracism, bullying, and threats. Concerned for his safety, his parents unenrolled him and he is now completing the semester through a homeschooling program."
No reporting whether students who threatened and bullied him have been suspended, so it seems they haven't been. Why the ignoring of policy by the school when he is bullied and threatened?

I think people are missing the point. I understand it’s not right if the boys been bullied, but it’s very ignorant to say illegal alien to somebody just shows how these parents teach their children.
