Controversial …don’t hate me for asking the question!! Let me first be clear that I am totally against killing animals for their fur, but from an eco perspective isn’t it better to wear vintage real fur that’s already in circulation and the animal has already died and resources have already been used up used to make the garment, than add to the climate crisis by supporting the manufacture of fake fur using plastic, dyes and other pollutants and probably slave labour??

Actually I was curious about the same. Also shearling is the same as other items made of other types of fur. So I was curious about the distinction. I do wear shearling though, so no judgement here, just honest curiosity…

I completely agree. I will not buy “pleather” items or “vegan” leather. The greenhouse gasses to get those garments, along with spandex and polyester, are horrible for our environment. I’m cautious over what I buy now and generally try to buy secondhand first! I always opt for real leather and fur, vintage of course. But there are sustainable leather brands out there that do not kill the animal for the hide, but use the animal hides after they have been used for food. Just got to do research. Wish brands were more transparent. Absolutely will not buy new high street fashion at all. They don’t even pay a living wage for the poorest of countries.

Same goes for vegan items. They don't compost at all for the same reasons. And I'm vegetarian.

Same with real leather shoes and bags.. funny this doesnt concern people but fur does🙃
on the other hand: there are farms where they will animals JUST FOR THE FUR and thats horrible.

    Thank you Leonie for this.
I'm so thrilled with brown being back!!! Black is too harsh for my colouring, especially as I am in my 70s. I am snapping up everything I can find while it lasts: brown, tan, camel, beige, caramel, toffee...
Four bags (two mixed with black), sweaters, dresses, boots and more boots, two pairs of cowboy boots , tan suede and black leather (Matisse), leather and suede leggings and flares, and yes, a faux fur jacket. It looks very cool with BLACK!
As for the other trends, I'm petite so I'll stick to my fitted/tailored, slim and flared jeans, and yes, cropped jackets (but just to the waist.)
I love your fashion attitude. Thanks again.

Hi Leonie, I can relate to some of these so much. Brown especially. I think this year is the first year I’ve deliberately bought brown clothing. I used to only look for black or grey. And now it’s like a switch has flipped and I’m really digging it. I started with a brown pair of boots and then it has kind of grown from there. Same with wide leg jeans and cropped jackets. For the longest time I only wore longer jackets to hide my tummy and skinny jeans to show off my legs. Now I’m feeling a lot more confident and comfortable with my body and embracing things that I didn’t before. Thanks for the video and have a great day. ❤

Great video! I'm definitely a fan of thrifting but you're right it does take time. I have found so many gems through the years and just consider it a hobby. I wanted to get my teen girls some new boots for the season and both of them chose cowboy boots! I don't even think they knew it was a trend, they just like them and we live in Pennsylvania, not the country LOL. This may be common sense but once I learned it, it was very helpful to me in my closet. If I really like the latest trending color but it doesn't coordinate with the other colors in my wardrobe, I just buy a dress in that color. I prefer cool colors and my neutrals are black and navy. I bought a sweater dress in that cool toned Brown that I can't wait to wear. Back in the summer I bought a kelly green dress and a sunny yellow one as well. I love how easy they are, one and done very little styling required.

    💟 Yes, I adore tweed
jackets & years ago they were considered more of an elevated piece. Worn mostly in a work/office environment or for more of a dressy occasion with skirts or trousers! Now, tweed blazers & jackets are more versatile, worn as a more casual look with jeans which is fabulous! Yep, I totally relate to the suit as a more corporate attire! Chocolate brown is a great color to pair with other colors, especially jewel tones.
I wear my tweed or bouclé jackets with “leather” skirts, or jeans and of of my vintage band t-shirts.
Thrifting has been a necessity of mine since the 80s. My family struggles financially but we didn’t want people to know. So, yard sales, flea markets, hand me downs, swapping, and charity stores were the way to go.
    Love from the USA.

It’s interesting to contemplate these items. I love a tweed jacket with denim, love brown but more of a cool brown for me. Do not like faux fur, too bulky and sloppy and synthetic. Wide leg? Win , just not too too wide for a short woman. Cropped jackets that emphasize a smaller waist are pretty but I don’t tend to wear them- maybe worth thinking about! Oh well, have to pass on the corset belts. Too structured or contrived? Victorian? Something I can’t quite define…😯 🤷🏼‍♀️ Thanks for another great video!

Hi Leonie, I actually started thrifting because of a video you did, probably in spring 2021, where you talked about how to thrift. Thrifting was a necessity for me last year, I had lost 80 lbs and could not afford to replace my wardrobe paying full price. It felt a bit weird at first, but then the thrill of the hunt got me going. (I always watch videos on trends for the upcoming season so I have a good idea of what to look for.)
My very best purchase was a Michael Kors tweed blazer with leather sleeves and lapels. I didn't need another blazer, and I remember standing there in the store with these two competing thoughts: I don't need another blazer, But it's a Michael Kors, I don't need another blazer, But it's ........ I finally decided to get the blazer. AND I paid ONLY $18 for it. I absolutely LOVE it, fits me perfectly, I so enjoy wearing it.
I would have had a harder time going to a thrift store if I had not seen your video. So THANK YOU! Greetings from Canada!

Seriously just now warming up to a Chanel style jacket!? These have never gone out of style. They are a classic, and a tweed of sort. And when you said "tweed" a completely different look came to mind. And tweed too is timeless.

My big objection to the Chanel-style jacket is the round neckline, they don’t suit my face and figure and are hard to style. So, I look for classic, notched V-lapels/collars in tweed jackets, instead, they are much less mature- and prim-looking. I also avoid most fancy buttons, it’s hard to dress down jackets that have them. I love a classic blazer, but most people dress super-casually, in gym wear, where I live, so I don’t want to overdo it.

    1. tweed- alway loved; my favorite characters like Whitney (Different World), Hillary (Fresh Prince of Belair) wore these items and I grew up with the women in my family dress in these fabrics,
2.corset belts:always loved because of having a large chest I always went for very wide belts and I have some that are over 25 years old.
    3. Brown clothing (have to love brown, it the color of my skin. LOL!) Long as it not a UPS uniform, I have always been all in. It a color of leather, in my shoes, belts, handbag and a much welcome change to wearing black clothing in the cold season, it really a color of nature. What I can't get around is wearing black with brown. But I will be trying this.
4.Faux Fur-alway loved (could not afford the real one). You like my daughter, even as a teen, no fur on hoodie or collar for her (use to piss me off because she would remove them even if it meant taking scissor to it). I bought a fake mink one from TJMaxx for about $100 over 16 years ago and I still have it. Because I am a thrifter, I have gotten my hands on the real thing finally. I feel better buying them second hand, because of price and don't want them to end up in the landfills. They are stylish and really really keep you warm.
    5. Suiting- always because this was my work uniform, I always worked in an office, also found them great also for club wearing just a bra or sheer top underneath (I still have most of my suits) and wear them to church. What is newer for me is that I have thrifted men suits and blazers and I love the oversize of it.
6.Yee Haw-Cowboy boots-Always just could not afford them. Then other influencers were stating how they were thrifting them and I went and made a killing buying them for like $10 because no one was looking for them at that time but no more than $25. These boots new with geniune material selling retail way in the hundreds of dollar market and that was even 40 years ago.
    7. Thrifting- Helloooo, 😁you already know that my jam. It is hard for me to even think of buying retail now and some time It better than shopping off their clearance racks at time (but I do check out my favorite retail shops instore clearance, blue moon).
    8. Crop jacket-always and I have them still in my wardrobe but they are a difficult wear for me with the humongus chest and now a thickening waist. I am more likey to wear those that stop right at my waistline and not any high (until I trim down). But I am still a fan. Have you found the right jacket to crop yet? I know you on the lookout, get to thrifting there missy.
9.Wide leg pants-always been a fan and my closet is full of them, put some heels under them and they give you legs for days. Back in the 80s I made money narrowing wide leg pants during college but I knew the wide legs were coming back they been around since the black and white movies.
    10. Shearling-Always could not afford fur but did invest in buying my first one at Wilson leathers 30 years ago, I got the hat, and the gloves. There is nothing like them to beat off the cold with a more rugged casual flare. Where I live it nothing for it to be below zero temps and I grew up in the South so cannot take the cold and you can stand out all day in these geniune shearlings because nothing coming through. My mouth drop at the jacket at 16:06 😮
You know that you definitly need to to a styling video because they are so far in between and I really like when you do them.

    Hello there,
Cowboy boots are a classic, splurge it’s worth it. I’ve worn cowboy boots since I’ve been in my teens. Go to a western shop.
Love corset belts , always have.
I cannot wear brown , it doesn’t go well with my silver grey hair.
Do not care for faux fur or any kind of fur.
Suits are amazing, but, it’s not my life anymore.
The best thing is the thrill of the hunt when you go thrifting. Again been doing that since I was a young girl and still love it.
Not thrilled with cropped jackets, never worn them.
I love wide leg jeans, pants, trousers etc.
    Hard NO on the sterling.
    Great video

Hi I have always worn corset belts but it would have been great if you had shown different versions as you only shown the corset style belt that is designer's it's a stunning belt if I could afford it even better but it would have been nice to see others that maybe available say COS, that maybe on the high street 😊

Great video -- thank you Leonie! The glasses frames look good on you but I find the reflections distracting. Might you consider getting anti-reflective lenses?

    • @Thestyleinsider.
      @Thestyleinsider.  2 года назад

Sorry about the reflection - I have had non-reflective lenses before and I could never keep them clean so that's the only reason I don't opt for them. Not ideal when shooting a video but otherwise I do prefer non-reflective :)

Like the tweed, play on classic Channel, jackets. Love wide leg jeans, hated skinny jeans, so unflattering. Been wearing them, wide, the whole time. Shouldn’t, I’m under five foot, don’t care. Must start wearing my 35 year old cowboy boots. They are Cole Hahn and beautiful . Thanks

    1. Tweed jackets - love the material and styling them down, a lot of the cuts seem dowdy though
    2. Corset belts - no no no
    3. Brown - I refuse to consider this a trend, it's too much of a staple
    4. Faux fur - love it
    5. Suiting - I love the trend of wearing suits casually; not a fan of some of the boxy and oversized looks
    6. Cowboy boots - I don't hate them but I don't wear them myself, just not my style
    7. Thrifting - mixed feelings. I'm glad that thrifting online is getting so much easier and that more stuff is getting reused, but sad that there's more competition :(
    8. Cropped jackets - I don't find them flattering on me but maybe I just don't know how to wear them!
    9. Wide jeans - don't hate them, don't love them
    10. Shearling - love it when it's faux

Leonie I'd love to know what you think about mid rise jeans vs high rise jeans or pants. I'm team mid rise because I find they flatter my figure. Even before mid rise was a thing. Mens Levi's Jeans were the best fit for me. Just to be clear I'm not talking about low rise. High rise just make me look funny. Can't put my finger on it. Thank you L . Always appreciate your videos.

Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge, I enjoy watching your videos very much. If I could ask you a question regarding the tweed jackets, please. I find it very difficult to find the right fit. I'm medium tall, of the normal weight and usually I wear the 12-14 Australian size (which looks oversized on me :)) The problem which I have is my shoulders are fairly broad, while the hips are quite narrow. When I choose a jacket, it's a real problem, because none of them would fit properly (too tight at the top, too lose at the bottom). Would you have any brand suggestions, which would have a bit more generous fit, please? Thank you very much for your advice.

Got into brown last year. Cowboy boots nope corset belts no suiting I love the look but I just don’t have a lifestyle for it. What faux fur coats are timeless. I don’t like puffer jackets. I use to thrift but now it seem yucky because of pandemic. Tweeds I would love to see how u style them Love your videos 🦋

To me.. spending the extra money to put anti reflect coating on lenses is as important as picking the right frames. All that glare and reflection makes any pair look cheap.

Hello Leonie! Love all your glasses! You look so fabulous with glasses. I wish I did not have to wear them. They are okay on me but not fabulous! Lol
I love all the trends! I believe I mentioned that I love my cowboy boots. I have had them for over 25 years! You can go online to Double M western store. They only thing about cowboy boots you have to go try them on. Your heel should slip very slightly to get a good fit then it molds to your feet. I am a huge fan of shearling and faux fur. I have some friends that have a company called Pretty Rugged the faux fur is beyond amazing and waterproof. I feel like you would love what they have! They are going to be on Shark Tank Friday October 21st 8pm eastern time. I live in Albany, the capital of New York. 🤗
