I have the winegard air 360 plus and NO you don’t need the winegard gateway. I bought a separate wireless router extender and a cellphone signal booster and connected them both to the winegard antenna and I get my regular wifi signal from the campground boosted as well as a boosted cellphone signal.

That would definitely work for folks who have wifi at a campground already. Good idea!

That's great - perhaps you can post links to the equipment you are using - thanks

Will this work for dispersed camping?

I have the Air 360 but don't camp in campgrounds, mostly on my property in rural Florida where the cell signal gives me one bar of service if any. Will this gateway increase the cell signal and add internet or do I need to get the Connect 2.0 in order to do this. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

It won't increase the cell service you receive on your phone, but typically the higher gain antennas they use in these will receive a better signal than your phone does, helping with the internet performance on this system.

I have seen where you can purchase sim cards that are unlimited talk text and internet cards. will this work in the gateway?

We have Verizon and they consider it a hot spot so we get a limited amount of premium service and then it slows down. It’s great until we get to the slowed down version. The Winegard works great. I just wish we could get unlimited access.

We've heard folks having a similar experience to yours with Verizon. Others don't seem to experience that. May be worth talking to someone at a Verizon-owned store just to be sure they have you on the correct plan. We have a few customers who have told us they've been able to get unlimited with them.
