- Just wanted to make a compilation of Carson Wentz’ ability to scramble and his overall mobility and elusiveness from his rookie year in 2016 to now in 2018. I put plays that required him to move, like throws on the run, sidesteps, pocket movement, and scrambles. I included some where he tried to do his move, but was unsuccessful. Now you all can observe any differences in mobility before the ACL Injury in week 14 of 2017 and after he came back week 3 of this past 2018 season. Has it changed? No change? Worse blocking? I put a lot more of Wentz' sacks taken from this year than the first 2 because they were easier to find. There should be more sacks taken after scrambling from his first 2 years, but couldn't find them/ there was a lot more plays that didnt end up in sacks to put in. Plus, things get lost in the production haha. Just wanted to clear that up. After all, this video is a highlight reel of Wentz using his legs to make plays.

After the injury you can tell he's a step slower because LBs and DLs are chasing him down when if he was healthy they wouldn't stand achance. I hope he's better next year .
I watched every game and before like mid season he was pretty mobile. It was just that the offensive line was hurt,secondary was demolished and the young guys stepped up a little to late. His back injury slowly made him less mobile. Against the giants he was rolling out firing down field. In the week 14 game against Dallas he couldn't even make a throw. That back injury killed his season. If we can get a good running back,when Carson is healthy,I can see us winning 12+ gamss

I said the same thing before the injury no DB catching him after injury the defense knew he was hurt you can rush 5 and catch him every time....hope he gets healthy

Mike Pingitore same. His mobility is still there; he’s shown that in these games. But I also think his back injury really affected him, as well as the o line’s struggles this year.

Wentz played with total BELIEF! Some of the o-lineman weren't finishing off their blocks. They were getting hammered. Wentz's mobility is a needed asset. Carson Wentz is a stud just keep him heality and the Eagles will soar. Everybody not just Wentz has to do his job.
He was such a promising qb ever since his injury he’s never been the sane
You can really see in year two where his on the run throws become incredibly accurate. That acl tear just took away all of his confidence. He slowly ran less and less. Sad.
A step or two slower maybe, and I believe the back issues played into that as well. He still looks elusive, and I think people forget he was playing with a fairly bulky brace on that left knee for the season. I am sure that plays a role as well. Although inconsistent at times I was happy to see Wentz play as well as he did. I think the inconsistency can partially be placed on the lack of a run game, a true deep threat, and missing an off-season of reps with the first team offense.
The Eagles lost 6 games with Carson Wentz under center this year. I understand statistics don't paint the full picture, but I want to point this out. I am going to exclude the Saints loss with Wentz under center because that was a poorly played game on his part, and I believe it was flukey.
In the other 5 losses, Wentz' stats are as follows: 11 TD's, 1 INT, 311 yds/game, 71.4% completion, 111.4 QBR. Again, stats do not show the full picture. Wentz would be the first to admit missed opportunities in some of those losses. However, losing 5 games with those stats it is hard to truly say Wentz under-performed this season.
Zach M He also had the team in position to win in two additional games (Titans and Panthers) and the defence gave up 17 and 14 points in the 4th quarter. That's unacceptable!!
His mobility wasn't there this year(which is a big part of his game) but he still put up good numbers...over 3300 yards passing and 21-7 TD to inception ratio. The o-line did a poor job protecting him for most of the season and never got healthy until Foles took over. A lot of people want to put our early season struggles solely on Wentz but the truth is we were banged up for most of the season in a lot of key areas.

His mobility is still there but you can tell after the injury he looked slower. And with what has happened the last two years he doesn’t really have a supporting cast. And looking back at it, his first year he had Jordan Matthews(a number 2 receiver at best), DGB(idk what happened to him), Nelson Agholor(deep threat with bad hands) josh huff(more of a returner) and Bryce treggs(never really got a chance could’ve been a nice deep threat) at wideout, they aren’t good, Ryan Mathews Darren sproles and etc. my point is he didn’t have a supporting cast year 1 either and still looked decent. Then next year all we added to our wideouts was a good alshon, old mid Torrey smith drafted Mack hollins so his receiving core still wasn’t great but the running game got better when we added blount and Ajayi. So still not a lot of help from our wideouts. Next year added Mike Wallace(old), golden tate(old) again no help from our wideouts. We know what happened the next year with the practice squad and then this year. He hasn’t had a great supporting cast like all these other qbs. Examples: dak: zeke, dez, cooper. Brees: kamara, Thomas. Etc. only reason we got that ring was bc our defense improved from the year before with all signings we had. Wentz hasn’t had a real cast around him and when he had a good run game we saw him at his best. He can make average receivers look good with and without a run game but he’s at his best with a decent run game. Anyways if we can get a decent run game and mid tier receivers or even draft a stud wideout we might see wentz at his mvp level again and maybe win another ring. He’s a beast and will hopefully be back to his normal self next year. 🙏🏽

Wentz is considerably slower. I can count at least 2-3 runs post-2017 that would've went for first downs, instead of 5-6 yard gains. He went from eluding linebackers to being chased down by D Linemen.
The other thing I noticed is that Doug called more movement in the offense. More misdirection, zone stretches, boots and waggles, and wrinkles to concepts. They also they ran the ball a ton more with Blount and Clement which allowed for more zone reads keeping ends at home and honest . Hopefully, they will do more with the offense that they did in 2017 to protect Wentz.
And why is Carson banged up? Because they rushed him back because Foles was playing terrible at the beginning of the season. No matter if we win the SB or not, they need to trade Foles this offseason.
Thank you Foles plays terrible when he's THE MAN in 2014 with the Eaglss and 2015 with the Rams but in 2013 when Foles came in for Vick after his injury 27 TDs 2 Ints
DynasticLilD3 lmao... Are u blind? Foles did not play terrible in the two games to start the season. Week 1 was a defensive battle and Week 2 the Eagles defense got torched. Foles had over 300 yds of passing in that week 2 loss. That fell on the defense. Plus he didn't have all his WRs like he did on Week 11.

So a defensive battle is an valid excuse for him playing bad? He had 451 yards 1 TD and 1 INT in 2 games against 2 teams that didn’t make the playoffs and were pretty banged up early in the season. If those numbers are good to you then idk what to say. I’m pretty sure Nick himself would chalk those first 2 games up as bad games.
DynasticLilD3 lol.. we played a healthy falcons bunch. They were as injured as we were throughout the season. A good reason Falcons fell flat on their face this year. Bucs were hot on offense that 2nd week. Did u not see what they did to the Saints in the dome? My God u need to re-educate yourself on the FACTS of his first 2 games. Foles did enough to win both games. Defense showed up on one and never got up on the other. That's week to week football for u man.
I can guarantee our record would be a whole lot different if Foles continued to play. Better ball control and less 3 n outs

This video also proves Wentz spreads the ball to everyone showing balanced distribution. one another note, 73 and a few others on that O-line were getting their asses beat all over the field. Thank goodness for Wentz's mobility. The O-line looked like trash. Buck it up fellas or get out! The traitors are on the O-line the exception is Lane Johnson. He blocked his man all the time. No time for unprofessional players cause the Eagles have the chance to dominate the NFL. O-line protection for Wentz needs to improve by leaps & bounds. Agholor was balling like a beast, a td machine.

Let's face it, from the moment they drafted Hurts, they said "we missed out on Russell Wilson, and we didn't want to miss out again." Whatever is in his pea brain about what the QB should be, made Carson Wentz obsolete. They want to bring an offense similar to KC, and that's why they moved on from both Wentz and Doug. Siriani may bring that, but I doubt it. It's just in the mind of Jeffrey Lurie and Howie that this all exist. Fantasyland!

Thats the problem, they tried to make him a pocket passer rather than let him develop into one. As soon as Reich left, his scrambling was just about done. You see this, then watch 2019 and 2020, to be fair those 2 years had injuries like no team I have ever seen for 2 straight years, mid 2019 every weapon hurt 2020 EVERY SINGLE WR, TE THE WHOLE LINE LINE BUT KELCE AND THE RB, 9 OF 11 starters, and Doug opts to not hire an offensive coordinator in a season with no preseason, and 2 main 4 main linemen are out for the year 2 before the season, and the other 2 didnt hardly play at all. Alshon out from mid 2019 to after Wentz was sat, Djax missed the whole yr, ertz 6 games, Goeddert, Reagor Miles all hurt.... funny thing is, PPL COMPLAIN CARSON WAS BAD, WELL, HURTS HAD EVERY SINGLE WR, EVERY TE, AND THE RB EERY WEAPON, nd compare his numbers, theyre worse than Carsons. But Carson had no weapons nor line. Hurts just didnt have a line, but at LEAST HIS LINE WAS THE SAME EVERY GAME, Carsons was a new line 12 of 13 weeks
I think he didnt trust his legs at times like in the past this year and combined with worse blocking led to more sacks, he also tried that duck under move wayyyyyyyy too much this year, its like he was scared to side step

I remember when everyone though Nick Foles was our QB of the future after that loss to the Saints. Then Chip Kelly attempted to sabotage the Eagles with all those trades. Right now it just feels like we’re getting a second shot at keeping our real QB of the future, idk how the Eagles can pass on it. One of these QB’s has to be traded for a BIG price at the end of the day.

He looks rusty on his reads, seems like his footwork/hips were working little bit slower. On the other hand, the running game this season was awful and most of their offensive weapons went down by injuries. Also rookie O.C. Mike Groh were adapting to system.
Maybe the upcoming season, with full and healthy training camp we'll be able to see the best of Carson.

As an Eagles fan I wish we still had Wentz. All these people all over the league and country that didnt see every game, didnt see all the issues with the offense, didnt see that 9 starters of 11, Only Wentz and the Center were left at one point, playing with the practice squad and rookie WRs, backup and practice TEs and backup RBs. The WHOLE LINE was all out but the the Center Jason Kelce. The other 4 had a combined 0 starts in the NFL. Game 1, 8 sacks allowed, and it was like that every game. They allowed 65 sacks, 50 to Wentz, 13 to Hurts in games, and 2 to Sudfeld in a quarter. Hurts had ALL HIS WRs back Tes all back and all his RBs he just didnt have his line. But blame Wentz. Disgusting. They butchered the development of Wentz since Frank Reich left, good for Wentz, he will be allowed to be himself again. You dont turn this into a pocket QB in 1 season. And even then his numbers went up in many ways on a post acl tear year. Then 2019 all weapons, EVERY ONE EVERY WR TE and RB OUT. 2020 EVERY WR TE AND RB OUT and add the entire line. Scapegoat to save his own job, Howie roseman the GM, fired the coach, who honestly was a big part of the disaster for not hiring an offensive coordinator, knowing they had no preseason in 2020 and half the offense before the season ever even started was out for the year, and the other half didnt last long. Wentz and the center was the lone starters left.

Where at home the Eagles allowed 8.5 pts a game. The D was num 1 vs the run. Num 2 overall. And at home the numbers werecrazy, 10-0, unbeatable, which was huge for Foles. Wentz Wins them 2 games also. I think he also wins the SB, because Wentz was the heart of that team, when he got hurt, the whole city thought, even at 11-2 the SB hopes were over, but Foles found 2 good gmes, because the 1st playoff game he barely won, scoring 5 FGs not 1 td. and the D won the game. Definite worry with Minnesota and New England coming up. but the D saved both them games too. 1 with a pick 6, 1 with the Brandon Graham strip sack on Tom Brady. Without that sack, Brady likely goes down, cores a TD and wins the SB.
Wentz becomes forgotten for a lil while, then in game 1, after they won the SB Vs Atl again, they booed Foles Bc he stunk it up again, Foles was back, 3 months early from a ACL tear, BC Doug looking back, now you see he buckled under fan pressure. Media pressure. Wentz was the reason for 2017 SB. SB 52 would not have even been a thought without Wentz, Foles never even would have had a shot. Now, he has a Statue in Philly at the stadium where Wentz played, andthey drafted a Qb in 2019 in Rd 2. Talk about butchering the development of a star talent. Good for him hes with Reich. And although I kew what he was capable of, and saw they were using him wrong, and couldnt stay healthy, couldnt draft WRs, hes in a better place at least for the next few years and maybe the next decade.

Wentz problem wasnt Wentz, it was his development, it was butchered. Since 2018 they made his game a pocket passer, and thats not him, not yet, he was 26, why take away his best attributes, his elusiveness, ability to extend plays, and when they break down, recievers take off deep, and his arm can throw 75 80 yards. I seen 73 without taking a step forward. Reich had the right idea, When he left. Doug and Groh made him the pocket passer. Why? He gets hurt too much? He was on the IR one time his entire career and hes a Colt now in 2021, he missed games due to his back but was able to play hurt, just not well anymore, he was in pain, but many play in pain., Nick played well. Why rush him back. Nick was a vet in his 5th or 6th yr, Carson was just coming back off an MVP campaign, and came back early from the acl tear, as usual, playing with one injury causes another as you favor the 1st injury. Thats his total injury history. If you wanna consider concussion injury when he would have been back next week? or a hairline fracture of a rib that you can play with, BEFORE HE EVER PLAYED A SINGLE GAME IN THE NFL go ahead. Youre reaching. These monday morning QBs will watch as the Eagles go through a redevolpment 6-10 seasons, 7-9 if were lucky, while Indy Reich and Wentz succeed. Good for him he got away from this GM who cant draft a WR to save his life, so he scapegoats the coach and the QB. Ya notice, as soon as Reich left, all his scrambling and running stopped. Not that he cant run, obviosly he can. They tried to turn him into a pocket passer, rather than let him develop into who he develops into. Sir Dabber well you can still take things away from it by observing. Even with his knee most definitely not 100%, he still had scramble plays and used his legs to try to make plays. A step slower? Maybe, but the o line wasn’t healthy early in the season and he wasn’t 100%. After all, I made this as a highlight video of Wentz and his mobility.
