I talked to someone on Facebook who was in attendance during Over the Edge. He confirmed that the story about Owen’s last words were true. The last thing Owen yelled was for everyone to look out, hoping he wouldn’t hit anyone below. Shortly after, he impacted the top rope, which was the fatal injury
@jaimep3432 maybe with the tech back then it would matter but phones now can zoom in over 50x and illuminate anything they capture not to mention editing software
I remember when it happened. I was ten years old and an Owen fan. I hate that the last months of his life, he had to play that stupid cringe "Blue Blazer " heel character that all the fans hated. In fact that Blue Blazer is what led to his death. RIP
Not quite that. A snap shackle was used, and he was too heavy for it to work, so the shackle opened due to the high amount of pressure against it from his body weight. The snap shack was meant to rig sail boats, only requires 8 pounds of pressure to open, and can be opened with one hand. Owen’s body weight exerted at least 8 times that limit. At 50 pounds of a load, the shackle begins to fail and then opens to prevent breakage. The shackle wasn’t broken at all. It opened.
I was 11 years old with my dad when it happened . Just hearing the sound of him crashing down was traumatic as hell for me. I couldn't sleep properly for weeks
According to the police reports there were 3 copies of the footage. One wwe has which they will never release, the second, the police requested a copy from wwe to view the footage. Where that is now nobody knows. Lastly, someone from Canada in the 8th row recorded it, and posted it on ebay in late 1999, the police and ebay were unable to trace him. Where that tape is now again nobody knows.
Was it a tragic death or was it his karma? Fkn up two necks with the same move, after you were already warned twice about it. He did it to Austin so Bret could be number one cuz no way could he have gotten that high if Austin was around. Bret could put a match on but his mic skills were god awful.
I remember this cuz i was watching w/ my dad. I learned what a 10sec delay was that day 😢

Watching this today on May 23rd 2024, coincidentally!
Another tragedy for the hart family caused by the McMahons.
This is so sad
Good thing cell phone tech wasn't further along at the time or there would be videos of this tragedy from every angle
It was too dark to see anything other than a silhouette.
@@jaimep3432Wasn't dark at all. The ring lights were just dimmed. You would've still seen him falling into the ring.

Right people don't mess around with recording nowadays....especially at a WWE event....😮

Jim Ross said in another interview something different
At one time, Owen was the Man!!
Hello good evening how was your ❤
Owen lost his life that night but countless others were spared from a broken neck.
Shut up!
Austin broke a guys neck in Japan before it happened to him. He is also a wife beater.
