The confessions from the five teenagers were coerced and the evidence had no link to any of the five teenagers. Keep in mind Reyes raped and murdered another person in the same year of the Central Park five case.

Because of the internet, I can talk about events that have happened before I was born. Second, unlike most people, Trump was a major instigator in the case. It was his Death Penalty ad that caused the public to go into a frenzy which encouraged the procecutors to indict. Sure, I can agree that the media also played a role in the case as well, but they knew just as much about the case as Trump did. Finally, this whole fiasco isn't just about what he said back in 1989, but what he still believes today. Trump said, "They admitted their guilt." That is not what someone who was misled would say. He still thinks that they're guilty even after the convictions have been withdrawn. This once again proves that Trump can never accept that he can do wrong. All that anyone is asking of him is to have some humility. How hard would it be to make a press statement, or even send a tweet, saying that he apologizes to the CP5? He could even gain by apologizing rather than doubling down on his stance from 1989. The sign of a good leader is someone who can admit when they are wrong and grow from their mistakes, but apparently this is too much to ask of the president of the United States.
