Yeah, it's about the same overall loudness as the OEM one with the baffle in but I think it sounds a bit tougher. You're right, baffle out is a much different sound and I'm told taking the flute out is another level. I'm will try that in a follow up video in the near future.
you all probably dont care at all but does someone know a way to get back into an instagram account?? I stupidly lost the account password. I love any assistance you can give me
@Leonardo Ronan Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
I know your channel isn't big at the moment and perhaps that's not even a goal (I would hardly blame you for wanting to keep things small and more personal) but this is an excellent video. The table of contents are handy and save us from playing with the scroll bar in hopes of finding that one elusive moment where you talk about the exhaust hanger bolt size or what have you. For the record, I watched the whole video from end to end. Also you gave great details on the installation going step by step, even weighing components, and highlighting the differences. And last but not least you have a pleasant voice and articulate vocabulary that appeals to those of us who are above the mouth-breathing, roid raging, RAWR videos seemingly made by those with the maturity of a 12 year old that seem to predominate motorcycle content on youtube.
Just bought a 2020 sv 2 weeks ago and love it . I just installed the same slip on tonight but first had to grind off a ring spot welded in three places that was on the end of the factory header before it would fit . The ring wouldn't allow the slip on to seat fully and you could not install the footpeg bolt . In your excellent video l can see no ring welded on the end of your header pipe allowing you easy installation. Just an fyi for those with a 2020 sv , l used an air grinder that l already owned otherwise it would have been a real pain in the butt , l also had to grind the spot welds down flat so the slip on could slide in place fully.
Awesome video with so much detail and sound clips. Sucks though that the sound note didn't change too much for that price tag on the Scorpion. Anyways great work you have really helped me narrow down my exhaust choices for the bike
Thanks for the video. I just installed the titanium version of this exhaust on my 2017 SV650 - flute in, baffle out. Sounds really good. I did a before and after test drive. I noticed that the bike feel less restricted, more eager and energetic in first and second gear. It was a pleasant surprise.
Yes and yes. Also, for quite a few months I was also considering pipes from Two Brothers and Yoshimura. However, you're detailed video pushed me towards the Scorpion. Thanks again!
I love the detail and explanation put into this video. Thank you. Although I can’t believe that exhaust was nearly 600 dollars and still sounds terrible. Even for weight that’s $100 per pound subtracted. Madness
One of the few good videos out there on an exhaust. I have the same bike and hope to do a similar video with a Yoshimura Street Alpha I just purchased.
When I had my scorpion first installed, it smelled like burning candles. Apparently this was normal. I recommend putting some exhaust paste on it to prevent possible leaks as mine had some at the beginning.
Yeah, it's normal for stuff to burn off new exhausts the first few times they get hot. Ours smoked a little at first too. So did the SC Project exhaust I put on the XSR900.
I just bought a 2018 SV650, brand new... $5800 out the door. I put down $2k, financing the rest. Before I put a $500 muffler on, and then possibly a $450 seat...I'm gonna take that $1000 and put it towards the bike. Then only $2800 to go. #newrider so, I'm gonna ride it stock for a while, then get cute after I'm comfy. Nice video tho !
excellent video, thanks, subbed. sounds better without the baffle, with baffles installed sounds not much different than stock, but in the real world I know that may be different.
NIcely done. I was looking for an aftermarket can that would look better than the OEM but wouldn't be too much louder. This fits the bill and looks to be a quality unit too. Might have to invest in a spring tool though... And I can always take the baffle(s) out when I want to be a hooligan :-)
Just the stock ECU so far. Running it with the flute and baffle installed I'm not seeing any obvious signs of the air-to-fuel ratio being off in terms of throttle response or exhaust smell. Getting it dyno'd and having the air/fuel ratio measured for the various flute and baffle combinations might make for an interesting RUclips video though...
Hey man, nice video! I love that evotech mount but can't find it on their website. Where did you find it? edit: fixed the comment after I read that it's your wife's bike :D
@@RideLikeJehu A buddy of mine who had an SV said everyone he heard of who put on an aftermarket exhaust reported a pretty significant drop in fuel mileage. Did you notice that?
We haven't noticed a decrease in fuel mileage with our Scorpion slip-on using the baffle. On my XSR900 with a full system exhaust and flash tune the mileage decreased significantly.
With the flute installed I didn't notice any impact to throttle response having the dB killer baffle in or out. It's still got that smooth SV650 V-twin goodness. I haven't tried removing the flute to see what happens, but I'll try that this summer and put up a video about it.
It quiet smaller when compare to other 650-700 cc section bike since it's V-twin engine so the style of body will be slimmer than normal in-line engine.Maybe Yamaha FZ-07 suit you well than SV650 but anyway you should test both of them first. The power isn't that different for middle class bike if you not really concern about top speed but just using for a daily life, oh and also SV650 is easy to ride for new rider with it assist options.
Youve got a new subscriber. Im not a new rider or new to my SV but find it interesting following bloggers with the same bike as me. You might want to join the Facebook group SV650 Owners and the forum page www.svriders.com if you havent already
As a sometimes cager, all the time I don't hear the loud bikes till they are next to me. And the loud sound scares the shit out of me. All my bikes are extra quiet
I like the SV650 sound personally, to me it's got a classy understated toughness to it. But you are right, some of the FZ-07s I've ridden with at the Snake sounded a lot more menacing. One guy in particular last weekend had me doing a double take when I realized he was on an FZ-07, whatever exhaust he put on that thing sounded amazing.
BigBitesR rite the crossplane cranked parallel twin is just marketing jargon for something a v twin already has. This is just a quiet slip on. There’s plenty of vids of sv650s that’ll challenge any mt07.
In my experience it depends on what you are trying to do. If you plan to re-tune the fuel injection system to take advantage of a higher flowing system you can make gains. I did that with my XSR900. If you put a higher flowing system on without tuning to go with it you will most likely make losses, which is what I saw on the dyno before re-tuning the XSR. If all you want is to lose some weight and improve the look and sound, then a system like the Scorpion with all the internal doohickeys does a good job matching the flow characteristics of the stock system. In that case re-tuning is not necessary. No power gains but no losses either.
it looks nice. Heres mine Even with the baffle out yourssounds quiet so I wouldnt worry too much. Seriously? Almost 12 minutes to explain how to fit a slip on silencer? Terms like 'exhaust system' give you an idea of why this guy takes 12 minutes to fit a slip on silencer. It isn't a system, it is a silencer. That isn't a 'flute' or a 'unit' it is simply a baffle. Give it a rest mate.
5 years on and this is still providing value - very comprehensive and clear coverage of all the things I needed to know - cheers chap!
I'd have to say I didn't notice much difference between the OEM and the Scorpion until you took the baffle out.
Yeah, it's about the same overall loudness as the OEM one with the baffle in but I think it sounds a bit tougher. You're right, baffle out is a much different sound and I'm told taking the flute out is another level. I'm will try that in a follow up video in the near future.

@Leonardo Ronan Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm.

@Leonardo Ronan It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my account!
Man the sound is so much better with the baffle removed :D
Excellent video, really professional. You explain everything clearly witch is great for a new SV650 owner like myself, great job!
Thanks!
Hi, I have a GPR exhaust slip on exhaust which is quite good also in terms of power & weight reduction

Gosh... thanks!
That's how a video is supposed to be! Excellent job.
I see a table of contents, I upvote.
Without doubt, one of the best motorcycle (support) videos I've seen. Well done. 👍
Well done with the table of contents. I ended up watching the whole thing but that sure would save me time if I had to re-watch parts of it.
Great video. Every exhaust video should be filmed like this.
Just bought a 2020 sv 2 weeks ago and love it . I own 2017 model and guys I have question, I just wanna change my muffler for better sound, which brand u recommend?
Awesome video with so much detail and sound clips. Sucks though that the sound note didn't change too much for that price tag on the Scorpion. Anyways great work you have really helped me narrow down my exhaust choices for the bike
Huge improvement on the looks for sure!
Well done video and very helpful. I think I've found the exhaust I was looking for....not too loud.
It's a tasteful upgrade isn't it? Without the baffle it's louder, but still sounds refined and not obnoxious. It looks a lot better too doesn't it?
Yes and yes. Also, for quite a few months I was also considering pipes from Two Brothers and Yoshimura. However, you're detailed video pushed me towards the Scorpion. Thanks again!

Excellent video, I like it with the Scorpion exhaust baffles removed.
Me too, but don't tell the wife ;)
5 stars Review. I appreciated the attention to details explanation. You deserved more subscriptions
Thanks!
Good quality Video. The SV is one of the most reliable, Bullet proof Bikes ever made by Suzuki 👍🇯🇵
What an lovely detailed video!
Dude, your how-to videos are excellent and supper easy to follow... Plus you have a very soothing voice 😂 Rock on man! 🤙
Thanks!
Beautiful video production to the details . Thank you !
Great video! Looking at getting an SV once I've done my tests. Taper looks really nice. Good explanation and clear video :)
Good choice, great bike. Good luck!
Very informative. I’m loving this bike.
A very well presented and informative video, well done and thank you
One of the few good videos out there on an exhaust. I have the same bike and hope to do a similar video with a Yoshimura Street Alpha I just purchased.
Those bikes really sound nice, well done Mate !
Db killer out is definitely the way to go! Man, autocorrect makes me look plumb stupid.
Anyway, agree with others here: this video is excellent.
Sound after removed was way much better

Yeah, it's normal for stuff to burn off new exhausts the first few times they get hot. Ours smoked a little at first too. So did the SC Project exhaust I put on the XSR900.
nice video, detail, clear, good comparison
My heart screams :take off that bloody mid pip silencer!"
Great video...super professional and really helpful for someone who wants to tackle this.
This video is pure quality
What a beauty! Love all the svs

scorpion sounds the best for sure
Great install video 👍 but I'm leaning towards the Leo Vincé dual or the Yoshimura Alpha shorty exhaust.
Slick vid Bro, excellent.
excellent video, thanks, subbed. sounds better without the baffle, with baffles installed sounds not much different than stock, but in the real world I know that may be different.
I agree both baffles installed sound best. Sharp looking bike ! Nice work on the video also.
Impressively detailed tech information !
Good guy +Ride Like Jehu timecodes the actual point of interest at the beginning of the video.. Thank you good sire! :)
NIcely done.
I was looking for an aftermarket can that would look better than the OEM but wouldn't be too much louder.
This fits the bill and looks to be a quality unit too.
Might have to invest in a spring tool though...

UNBAFFLED FOR SURE MORE BASE THAN STOCK!! looks 100x better too !! NOT to mention much lighter and less bulky too :)
Did you remove the logo sticker on the Scorpion?
Excellent comparison....Great job...
Great video , very helpful , I e just bought a sv650 and plan on getting this exhaust. Will removing baffle harm the engine? Or should I leave it in
nice video..did it require tuning?
Great video, answers all my questions. Except one. What does the stock muffler look like without the heat shield?
I really like how the original exhaust sound but you are right that is a little oversized and weights too much.
Great video, very informative.
Great professional video. Is the new exhaust supposed to sound as similar to the stock? I was hoping for a rasp. Good weight saving
Try a Shorai lithium battery next! Have an Akra and Shorai on my DL650!
bit of an old video but - i have a 2024 model will this still be a good exhaust and relevant fitting instruction?
Brilliant video! many thanks! very detailed with exactly what i needed to know! appreciate it..
Thanks for watching!
That "cat" in the end can will lose you some power though!
Nicely done sir!
Great video, thanks man.
Baffle removed sound good
Hi, nice video, did your performance on the bike increase ?? Thanks for the info.
Thanks! We didn't notice any change to the performance good or bad. With the baffle and/or flute removed and an ECU flash tune then maybe?
Yeah, that might help
I agree with your wife!
Great video on every level. Did you have to do any additional tuning or re-flashing of the ECU to maximize the performance of the new pipe?
Just the stock ECU so far. Running it with the flute and baffle installed I'm not seeing any obvious signs of the air-to-fuel ratio being off in terms of throttle response or exhaust smell. Getting it dyno'd and having the air/fuel ratio measured for the various flute and baffle combinations might make for an interesting RUclips video though...
Thanks.
Great video! Thank you!
How do you guys like the setup 1 year later?
Do you need to tune the bike with the baffle removed?
Thanks for sharing👍
I got my sv in march. A2020
Can you tell me what you did to lower the bike?? Thanks.
Great review!
Very useful, thanks !
Thank you
Hey man, nice video! I love that evotech mount but can't find it on their website. Where did you find it? edit: fixed the comment after I read that it's your wife's bike :D
Is this with the midpipe baffle installed?
Do you have to do any mapping of you leave the baffle out
Definitely sounds better with the baffles removed ... still pretty mild.
I think so too
@@RideLikeJehu A buddy of mine who had an SV said everyone he heard of who put on an aftermarket exhaust reported a pretty significant drop in fuel mileage. Did you notice that?
We haven't noticed a decrease in fuel mileage with our Scorpion slip-on using the baffle. On my XSR900 with a full system exhaust and flash tune the mileage decreased significantly.
Hey, where did you buy the Evotech bracket? Can't seem to find it anywhere.
Got it from the Evotech Performance website, but I don't see it there anymore. It looks like they may have stopped selling it :(
the best exhaust for sv 650 is the Miirv one
Top..thx for the video...
Yo, Drive Like Jehu. Nice.
Does the Scorpion have any adverse effects on the bike? I really enjoy the smooth throttle / fuelling and wouldn't want to risk loosing that.
With the flute installed I didn't notice any impact to throttle response having the dB killer baffle in or out. It's still got that smooth SV650 V-twin goodness. I haven't tried removing the flute to see what happens, but I'll try that this summer and put up a video about it.
Thanks for letting me know. I look forward to seeing the video.
Who makes the footpeg delete bracket? Does the stock can contain the Cat?
I guess I'll just watch the video about the footpeg removal ;)
The footpeg delete bracket is from Evotech and the stock can does not contain the catalytic converter.
Doesn't it have the logotype?
Yeah, it came with a logo sticker on the muffler but I removed it before filming.
ECE aproved?
You can download a copy of the EC approval certificate from Scorpion's website, but here in California it is frowned upon nonetheless :)
That moment when the speedometer accuses you of being a white male.
Haha! It was all "Are you kidding me?!"
Guys, this bike ok for 193sm guy?)

95% of us would disagree with your wife’s choice. Oh wait, 95% of us are men. Now it all makes sense 😅.
You want to be heard!! In my opinion I louder bike is a safer bike.. when drivers hear you they see you rip that baffle out that pipe

I see no performance gain with all the internal blockage. People who believe back pressure is a good thing are just repeating bad information.
