I like that Simon wasn’t really worried during the song, he probably thought Candy Queen was relatively harmless the same way Ice King was when capturing princesses
Though Simon as Ice King DID, take LITERAL pieces of Princesses to try to make a weird monster bride

I think this is an interesting dive into Bubblegum's mind. We know the crown obviously makes the wearer crazy, however, Ice King was always relatively harmless which is just a reflection of how Simon would never try to harm others. However, we also know Bubblegum has a bit of a dark side, so Candy Queen wanting to actually kill someone is a reflection of it.
Ice king has tried killing a lot of people. First interaction with him included “Of course they want to be here! They know I would kill them if they didn’t.”
Ice king once stitched up all the princess’s together as well as dropped PB into the liches vat juice. He’s not entirely deadly but not entirely harmless. Seemingly just like candy queen.

Simon is shown to be someone that at the end of the day cares for others way more than himself
PB is the same but in a much different context
My favorite interpretation is that the Candy Queen knew to some extent that something was *wrong* with her and misinterpreted it as a love for Winter King, since he was the key to losing her madness. So the whole blending thing was a very loose idea to "fix" herself
I think it was his affection was towards her and it reflected the same way
I think its just the same with ice king, his princess kidnapping was because he lost betty, since its still his insanity it transferred into bubblegum the same way
My first thought was that the curse inside of her was still attracted to the crown and influenced her to seek out Simon
well i dont think turning her and winter king into a cake would make her normal again
The real messed up part Is we see Marcelines gutair in the melting ice kingdom which means either he got rid of her when he did that to Bonnie and she was mad- or she never figured out what happened and stayed with Simon

I agree with the statement PB know that by killing the winter King she will be free but i have an other interpretation. One of the deep desire of Pb is to belong to a unity ( think about the mother gum ) and being immortal. So the fact to blend and merge with someone is not that crazy when you think about he true desire ( and the fact to access the whole crown will give her immortality).

And I’m farm world (a the world we saw if the lich never existed) we learn Simon sacrificed himself to stop the bomb and the crown froze the world in grief for Simon that can say the crown was attached to him in one way or another,
But then again that was told by a less mentally stable version of marceline so…yeah read whatever you want of that scenario

I think the reason why this PB wanted to be together with Winter King was because the madness wanted to go back to the crown and its host(The reason why they belong together). At the same time PB wanted to kill Simon for making her crazy(Eating the icecream, wanting to blend him). That's why this version is crazier and more murderous than Og Ice King.
I think it's more like the toxic episode of Rick and Morty. When they mentioned Betty, the Winter King just scoffed like it's something insignificant. At the end, when they explain that he transfer his madness to PB, maybe his love for betty was also perceived as part of the madness, hence the reason Candy Queen try to kidnap Winter King.

madness and sadness go hand and hand in regards to magic in adventure time. his madness was stripped away and projected onto pb, safe to assume as was his sadness too. I think all of Ice Kings madness + sadness riddled tendencies were projected onto pb, hence her kidnapping and romanticizing like the ik once did. @@trilamhuu46

For anyone wondering why Bubblegum seems crazier than Ice King, it's because Bubblegum was always crazy in comparison to Simon, Simon was a pretty sane guy, which is why the Crown's magic corrupted him and made him into the crazy wizard, but Bubblegum was always sadistic and insane so Winter King projecting his magic on her only made even crazier

The only real difference is that bubblegum has less qualms about killing than Simon and by proxy ice king would.
But ice king did tons of insane things too, candy queens madness is just rooted in the logistical side while ice kings in the emotional.

Hynden Walch did such an incredible job. I had no idea it was her performing as Candy Queen the whole time.
All the dopamine I could ever want is contained in the moment where Candy Queen proclaims "Not a Metaphor" followed by dramtically playing her synth, and Brian David Gilbert's delivery of "this is an escalation"

I love this particular upload of the song. I genuinely can't stop listening to this song so I love that the video gets straight to it. But the Winter King's line at the, especially the delivery, freaking kills me and I'm stoked that you left that part in.
Can we take a moment to imagine the horror would have been displayed if her plan worked? With how this show is going it would have been a gore fest or resulted in some graphic abomination of a creature. Man, I love this show.

I think her obsession with the winter king stems from the fact that she knows he cursed her. She wasn't trying to forcefully marry him (well, kind of) she was legit trying to end him.

In a way, it makes sense that she's hellbent on mixing with the Winter King. All the madness in her mind came directly from the Winter King, so in trying to mix the insanity is trying to get back to where it belongs. In the mind of the Winter King

I was enjoying this episode but suddenly I thought "ugh this is just the classic plot of the nice and good guy actually being evil" since Winter King was TOO perfect for this world, even the adventure time world. Nonetheless, the twist was so original and unique! Didn't expect winter king to throw a spell on PB to revert his own madness. This was not a plot of "good guy being actually evil" this is a plot of "evil guy reverting his madness with a spell to become a good guy". I love this show

I haven’t seen the show yet so I don’t have full context but I love how Simon seems to enjoy the song (him swaying to it and saying it was a nice metaphor) I thought it was cute
Love how her hair matches Ice King's beard, and she constantly flips upside down mimicking the design. That and seeing how sanity effects both of them differently, where swapping out roles they're both far more powerful beings as he needs structure and she disorder to thrive.

I love how out of context the end and the beginning loop perfectly if you have it on repeat. I love this song
I hope that our Bonnie can see Simons memories of this episode and see that going insane like the Ice King can happen to anyone, even herself, and give her sympathy for Simon that she almost never really had before, though that was probably because she was kidnapped the most out of all the princess in the show.
PB being insane is so much more terrifying b/c of who she is, and I’m glad they highlighted that.
PB already didn’t have a moral compass, and was unhinged in the way living through a dystopic apocalypse can make you.

I think the reason candy queen was so obsessed with blending with winter king was because a part of her knew that she was only receiving part of the crowns influence, the madness without the ice powers, all the negatives without any of the positives. so, either consciously or subconsciously, she thought that blending with winter king would make her whole, in some way.
Spoilers:
Damn, even when crazy. PB is still so subconsciously smart that she knew that the key to ending her insanity was by "mixing" the winter king, aka kill him.

I love how Winter King thinks the constant kidnappings are fun, like it’s just their thing
Rewatching the series & seeing how Ice King does music maybe it’s his essence crying for help like how when he wanted to write a song he instinctively went to Marcaline & according to Marcaline he comes and finds her a lot.
Maybe while Bubblegum is mad from the crown the crown is projecting it’s need to return to Winter King but the problem with magic it makes you crazy so it did the most logical thing it assumed
Something to note is how freely and easily Bubblegum is using her candy elemental power here, and in such large quantities. It's like shes better at using it now that's shes more into madness, which lines up with what betty was researching before about how magic, madness, and sadness are linked. I think that's pretty neat.
