    Santa came early! I was so happy to see part 2. Thank you for putting it up so quickly! I love your wonderful putz houses and moreso b/c they are pink and green.
    I must get some Snowtex now that I know that is how you make the drifted/piled up snow. The tip for the gold spray paint is good to know. I've aged tinsel using a tip from Tim Holtz who said to use Vintage Sepia archival/permanent ink. I have that ink pad and used a rubber sponge and dabbed it, which is fine for a small project; but the gold spray paint w/be so quick and easy. Years ago I got a tip from a magazine on how to make a cheap green fake Christmas tree look better: you use white spray paint. It tones down the green and worked like a charm. The tree is still green, but better.
    A tip I found online and tried is making icicles to hang from the roof using glue and glitter. It worked well and it has held up too; although I don't know if it would be considered traditional for Putz houses. You take some wax paper/non-stick paper or mat and using a bottle of glue (I used Elmers school glue b/c it has a nice nozzle) you draw a line of glue, dipping down to make icicles (easier to do than explain). Make it as long as you wish. Then you sprinkle it with glitter (before it dries) and allow to dry for several hours. When it is dry it is pliable and can be picked up. You can cut it to length if need be. To put it on my houses I used hot glue.
    Again, thank you for sharing your techniques for making these wonderful nostalgic houses. I love retro/nostalgia so much it's a real treat for me.

    I love all your ideas...been binge watching. Just a suggestion on your multiple paint layers. Most people hate priming, both on real life projects & crafts, but one coat of zinser 123 will save you both the time & the paint from doing any more than 2 layers of color. Can't wait to start trying some of your "sweets".

    I have a glitter house that I am about to put together. I found a pattern for one on ebay. My first! I was in Hobby Lobby on Sat and forgot to look for snow. I wondered what brand of Snow you used. And I wondered if you used Mod Podge to add glitter or if you used a spray adhesive. I want to glitter or mica all of it. I'll have to get back over there in the next day or so because I want to finish this house. Thanks for the instructions, you answered a lot of questions I had about decorating them. You made these two videos exactly when I was on youtube trying to find instructions like yours! I have seen so many of these cute little glitter houses online. After you made a few of them were you able to make your own house patterns? I bought two already made at Hobby Lobby and I have some ideas on how to work with these to make them my own. I want to use the colors pink and aqua. Hobby Lobby also had some decorated bottle brush trees in my favorite shade of pink.

    • @thepinktree3490

      Jen DuBay I don’t paint first for many reasons ,you would see the glue on top of the paint and if you paint the paper it make wrinkle a tad as well.Better to paint over the glue and while the house is intact.You would actually make more work for yourself in the end !LOL

    • @ThunderStruck15
      @ThunderStruck15 5 лет назад +2

      ThePinkTree ah. I do similar designs for D&D terrain. We paint before anything is cut, so there is no warping- paint on the back side, cut on the front. I would think the glue wouldn’t show because you’re just covering everything with glitter anyway, and you need glue to do that.

    • @thepinktree3490
      @thepinktree3490  5 лет назад

      Jen DuBay That’s true about the glue I suppose !

      @@thepinktree3490 I have been making glitter houses for many years, and use Bristol Board instead of plain card stock. This is meant to be painted on and won't wrinkle. Bristol Board comes in tablets where art supplies are sold.The houses I make are often quite tiny, depending on which setting they'll go in.
      Sorry to say, but you're such a messy glue-er :o) I use a palette knife to spread glue as you have so much more control than straight out of the bottle. Also, the newer "fast grab" or "quick grab" glues work so much better for holding instantly.
