For someone whos started computer sience those tips are great, i love your videos and i hope you make another top of calculus, algebra, linear algebra... books. There is no mathmaticians from oxford showing his life and books recommendations so im happy finding out your yt channel.
Going to Edinburgh for maths in September and imposter syndrome is the one big thing getting to me. I just do not feel skilled enough to be studying maths
Hi! I'm preparing for MAT and I'm super scared and don't know where to begin because I have never studied math in english given that english is not my mother tongue and I don't know a single english math vocab ... not to start with how hard MAT is even for natives😢
Hi!! 👋 I was definitely in the same boat as you, English is not my mother tongue either so I also felt at a disadvantage. However, having been through it, I can assure you there is nothing to worry about! Maths is a universal language after all, so your equations and thought process will be understood even if your grammar isn’t 100% correct. I would advise you to do as many past papers as possible, writing down as much of your thought process in English as you can. Look up the answer keys and take a note of all the maths terms you saw in there. Maybe have a google docs of all the maths terms in english or write them down in a notebook. That definitely does help a lot! Best or luck!! 🍀😊

Does having studied at Oxford gives you more advantages than others? And how is life abroad far away from your family? Sorry for asking so many questions 😅
I would suggest you try a past paper first and see how you get going with the maths vocab. I think the best way is to build the vocabulary “glossary” as you go. I’m on summer vacation now and will start my first graduate job in September! I would say having finished Oxford definitely gives you some perks and advantages that you don’t get from most unis, just having it in your CV boosts the number of first round interviews you get when applying for example. After that point, it’s entirely based on your own knowledge, put it gets you through the first step normally. I would lie if I said living away from my family is easy, but I always go home on holidays and we talk pretty much everyday so it never feels like we are drifting away. 😊 Overall, it’s a lot better than expected, so nothing to fear for on this side! 😅
