I married my high school boyfriend. I went to college and he went straight to work. We’ve now been together 25 years; married 19. Do not let some random chick on the internet talk you into throwing relationships away for no good reason. People aren’t disposable. If it’s time to end things anyway that’s one thing, but this advice is frankly crap.

I would say for the most part, Highschool relationships arent the most serious things and it is hard to justify making life altering decisions just to be closer to your boyfriend, obviously it worked out for you so thats great, but i think for most people its not the way to go.

A lot of this is awful advice. You don’t necessarily get a choice in your class schedule, especially freshman year. In the working world you don’t just “get fridays off”. Taking even just one class on a Friday keeps you busy and focused on school. And if you’re so quick to dump your boyfriend because of a location change, you’re easily the problem and I hope he finds someone worth his time.

Pro tip, don’t listen to this girl. If you have a strong relationship in high school don’t break it just because of university, you need an actual reason why the relationship isn’t working to justify breaking up. Almost all of the strongest marriages are between people who started dating young. Theres been tons of study’s done that say that as the amount of relationships someone has increase, male or female, the less likely it is that when they marry someone the marriage will last. The likelihood of being happy during that marriage also decreases every time the amount of previous partners rises. My parents started dating at 15 and have been married happily for 34 years. My uncle started dating his wife at 17 and has been married for 40 years. I may agree to the statement ‘don’t compromise your dreams or where you want to go to school just to stay with a high school boyfriend, and don’t try long distance since it will never work in university’ but her take is stupid.
Also, what degrees can you take where you have a small enough course load and enough freedom to not take Fridays classes? Anything to do with science or engineering makes you take 5-7 classes a semester with at least three labs a semester and buisness schools usually have you taking the same, except their labs are presentations or case studies. That leaves art’s degrees, which aren’t worth taking in the first place. I’m in engineering, but the arts options I’ve had to take have all been so unbelievably easy that I didn’t have to study, outside of homework assignments, even once, and yet the lowest grade I got in any of the 5 classes I took was 96. Anything that easy isn’t worth 20 grand a year to be learning.

My parents started dating after college and they have been married for 18 years. Grandparents started dating after high school. I don’t think any of my family are high school sweethearts. I know my pastor and his wife were high school sweethearts but that’s about it.

Ask for help. How is this not on there? If youre struggling with something and you have an exam soon, don't assume it won't be on the test because IT ALWAYS IS! Ask your professors, ask the people around you, get a group together. It's not high school where you can just not study and still get a good score. If you don't study for a college exam, you're fucked. So throw away your pride for like an hour and ask for help.

Only time id really make the argument not to bring your bf/gf to college is if they’re going somewhere super far away and you’ll barely ever see each other. When your that distant, someone will inevitably fuck someone else and it will end on bad terms. Better to end it on good terms and not risk the heartbreak. But if your going to the same college, you’ll probably only get closer since your living in the same place. Hell, I know people who met in HS, go to different (nearby) colleges, and im still pretty confident they’ll take it all the way to marriage

@@a.h.i267 what a bad comment. Throwing the first stone refers to a physical act, as was a custom at the time. Anyone found committing adultery were to be killed, stoning them being one form of punishment. So, what you're trying to say here isn't correct at all. It is not wrong to say, "that is a sin". you made such a smart comment a.h.i good job!!

as a non-drinker, the majority of people are going to drink anyway and they need good advice on how to do it as safely as possible. “Ease into it” is good advice. Don’t get blackout drunk your first time, guys.
