Heartbreaking for the citizens, and the sad part is that it will only get worse from here on.
They did however elected the one who is refusing to end the conflict and didn't remove him from power when he negated his promises to restore relations with the Russian speaking population in eastern Ukraine and Russia itself.
On the contrary, most of them were nearly ecstatic whenever Zelensky achieved the odd victory on the battlefield.
Now they experience the real results of Ukraine's belligerent leadership and deeply regret that they bought into the western en Ukrainian propaganda.
In the west we see the same happening.
In my own small village (about 11.000 inhabitants) I counted more than 500 Ukrainian flags at the start of the conflict.
Today, nearly all of these flags disappeared and people are starting to oppose further aid to Ukraine.
It's not only Ukraine that is getting destroyed, but the whole of Europe is now on the verge of a recession, if not an outright depression.
De-industrialization leads to higher unemployment and lower tax revenues.
Governments, who are already indebted up to their eyeballs, will be forced to cut back on social security and other government benefits.
Moreover, the EU itself is building up ever more debt because they simply don't have the funds to maintain their support for Ukraine.
Ultimately, this debt will have to be repaid by the citizens of its member states, who's living standards are already under pressure due to the stupid decisions of the EU and their own governments.
Russia offered the Ukraine several opportunities to reach a diplomatic solution of the conflict, but all the offers were cast aside by the Ukrainian government.
As forewarned, every new offer became more demanding than the previous one, as result of a changing situation on the battlefield.
Now we have reached the point where Russia is no longer interested in a diplomatic outcome and is determined to end the conflict by military means.
Russia will accept nothing short of an unconditional surrender.

Ukraine was told not to sign the Minsk agreement and over an 8 year period was trained and prepared by NATO to go war with Russia. Where are those trained professional soldiers? All dead! What is strange about a non- professional soldier forced into battle and running away because he is overwhelmed by a stronger army ?
