- The Somua SM is a premium French tank in War Thunder. This is one of the greatest tanks in the entire game. The only downside is the garbage solid shot, but it makes up for it by having a 4 second autoloader. The armor is stupidly effective at times and the mobility for a heavy tank is very good. Sad to see the other tanks go to 8.0 but thankfully this one stayed at 7.7.

There is a reason I've switched to being a French main and it's this amazing machine that did it. The Somua SM is just godly. I may not speak French, but I do speak 100mm Autoloaded solid shot.

As someone who played the 7.7 line-up quite alot in a year, I would say, my main gripe with the vehicles going up is not because of their performance, but solely their gun. Yes, the 100mm gun is incredible at its BR and its solid shot can easily one-shot enemies if you shoot at the right places (I even prefer solid shot over APHE, because it goes through components), the problem is, the pen quickly gets fucked from vehicles with angled armor and good armor layouts and it's already a struggle to kill T-54s and T-55s (though gun mantlet shots followed up by a flank kill usually does the job). If they had HEAT or something like that, I wouldn't care, but the lack of ways to pen some enemies frontally is just not right.
The most annoying nation to have to fight is the Russians, they get good armor, good ammo, stabilizers and mobility. Even though HEAT is extremely inconsistent I wouldn't mind having it as an option, sadly if that happens the tanks are going up in BR
@@ThiccYoroi Definitely not mobility-wise (atleast compared to others), that's for sure and even gun-wise, they're around as capable as the others (save for the missle on the modern T-55s, which is nuts).
And yes, they're the main threat, but I can't truly blame those tanks either as they were still focusing on keeping them properly armored unlike other nations having a different philosophy, so it's just a rock-paper-scissors kinda defeat. Personally I wouldn't oppose a BR change if they could give the French tanks HEAT rounds.
The worst part of this tank is when I get a good kill streak and the ammo rack is out of shells, and you need to wait a ton till it replenishes a shell.
Yeah that does suck, you have to play this tank around caps to replenish the ammo rack faster

So this stays at 7.7 with better armor and waaaaay better pen., but amx-50(T090/930) goes to 8.0 with worse pen and no armor. Oh wait somua is sold in a store that explains everything lol
it has to do with the 4 second reload paired with an autoloader, which i find a dumb reason to move it up. Also the amx-50 is sold in the market as far as i know
@@ThiccYoroi I think this was a mistake on their end and that they're going to rectify it in the next patch. Hopefully not, but I don't see why the Somua was spared over the less impressive TO90/930.

So just because youre good it means the tank can go higher? By that logic all tanks should be 11.7, no need for BRs then. Sometimes ppl forget about the average player, which makes up for 90% of the war thunder playerbase
@@ThiccYoroi i understand you but these br changes doesnt destroy the game 100% ok can give you some WTF moments but most of the base players that make 90% of community are amateur or worst than that and Im bad at this game stille need to learn a lot but still can make a lot of good games facing full uptier but doesnt feel like that because most of the players are dumb. Or even in situations when Im using yak 38 and facing 10.3 br players but dont care
Tbf it is their fault for adding those vehicles and thinking it would be balanced sure let's have a 5 second auto loading line up at 7.7 yes I understand that it's solid shot yes I understand none of them have laser or stab but if you get set up properly it's really fucking frustrating to deal with as the turret armor is more buggy then the panthers cheeks France shouldn't have been added lol and instead made some kind of mixed nation instead for France kind of like Sweden so things like that 7.7 line up which literally determines who wins or loses at that range as someone that's hates the French 7.7 and has quit 6.7-8.7 because of them I do think they should go up give them some kind of buff sure but France is just ugh better everything at every br except past 10.0 lol and if you wanna argue we can doubt many people would agree with my "idiotic" rambles but hey something more idiotic then than that is the gaijin balance team
Gaijin cant balance their tanks, im still waiting for more BRs like 12.0, 12.3 and even 12.7. Currently moving any tank isnt going to fix a problem, its just going to move that problem to another BR.

Fast reload on solid shot is always good, which is why i hate something like the Foch or m103

I'm sad that I don't face IS 7, 279 or T55AM every match in my overpowered french 8.0 lineup. Since this can't do anything to the AMX 50/90 and I can just put my cursor on it to kill it. Please raise the BR of french vehicles more Gaijin. I'm too tired to farm 8.7-9.0 Russia, it's just too easy.
Dont worry broda, the 7.7-8.0 French lineups are going to be at 11.7 soon enough, maybe then they will be balanced

I had just bought the 3.3 mustang and now I'm facing planes that not only can maneuver better than me but they can totally pull energy out of their backstage after a merge and annihilate me 😭😭😭

3.3 mustang is still very usable just requires you to bnz with extreme attention to your general area I feel worse for the Japanese air nerfs USA mains once again killing Japan air because they don't realize that a p51 cannot turn fight a zero or that a coirsair cannot climb and bnz like a j2m2 soon enough Japan will have the highest br props if this keeps up lol
