  • In this video tutorial you will learn how to pay on Amazon using a gift card. You will first need to open an Amazon.com account and redeem your gift card. Once you do so, the gift card amount will be applied to your Amazon account. You can then use this account balance to pay for any purchases you make on the Amazon website.
    You have to make sure that you use the correct gift card on the respective website. Amazon has different websites for the United States, Canada, UK, Australia and others. So you have to make sure you are using the right gift card on the respective Amazon website. If not, it won’t work and you will not be able to use it.
    Please note that you may still be required to enter your credit card or bank account details at the time of checkout even though you are using your gift card balance to make the payment. Amazon will not charge your credit card or bank account if your payment doesn’t exceed the balance in your gift card account balance.
    FYI, you cannot use your gift card balance to buy other gift cards. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave them in the comments section.

    *pin this comment if you can* For those of you who already have redeemed your gift card go to customer service and ask them to unredeem the card, you will get your money back in your card and can use a different account with a credit on it and activate your gift card on that account.

    • @AnthonyGodinho

      Hi there, I agree, it's very customer-friendly. This requirement is for first-time buyers and I believe for digital products (for security reasons and for confirming the address). Some products are only available for purchase to US residents. Anyway, many of my viewers were able to use their Amazon gift card without needing a credit card. They entered their gift card code directly at checkout, instead of first applying it to their Amazon account. Alternatively, Amazon also accepts pre-paid VISA cards (even with $10 or $20 credit in it) that can be purchased at retailers like Walmart. Hope this helps.

      +Anthony Godinho This is a really shady business practice. They should not get to choose if i'm allowed to spend a gift card based on my banking/CC details. What a silly rule, its not like there system cannot detect that I only have xx dollars on my gift card so no risk of me going over. Simple, if i dont have enough balance then I wont be able to buy it. This is just a way for them to get some extra profits in the hopes I will give up and not use my card. Even more its illogical that if you enter it directly at checkout it works, but not after you load the account, that is just plain stupid. Anyway I have no CC and no Bank account but already loaded a $25 gift card, so I guess im screwed until i get around to getting a credit/debit card. Pretty pointless way to do it if there intentions are good. I love amazon and this is the first shady thing I have seen from them.

  • @AnthonyGodinho

    This is the first time I purchased from the Amazon.COM (US) website. I generally purchase from the Amazon Canada (Amazon.CA) website. The reason I was forced to purchase from the US website is because I had over US$200 in Amazon.com gift cards which could only be applied to the US website, not the Canadian website. I created a video tutorial on how to go about doing so.
    Amazon does allow international customers to purchase some products from the US website and even though the choice is limited, some of the prices are much better compared to the ones on the Canadian website.
    I researched some products and compared the prices to the ones on the Canadian website. Even after the exchange rate considerations, the prices on the US website were still priced lower. Of course, you have to take into consideration, the import fees.
    One thing I noticed is that they charged me $21.24 for shipping which they shouldn't have because my order qualified for free shipping. So I contacted Amazon and they immediately reversed that amount.
    The other caveat was that they require you to enter your credit card or bank account details even though you will be paying using your gift card balance. However, they don't charge your credit card or bank account if your purchase doesn't exceed your Amazon gift card balance. Overall, my first experience and impressions was a positive one. #Amazon #AmazonPaymentOptions

      +Anthony Godinho is it really necessary to enter our credit card details? if i have a debit card , will that work ?

    • @AnthonyGodinho
      @AnthonyGodinho  8 лет назад +1

      Hi Rowshan Ali I just responded to your other comment/question.
      Some of my readers who've purchased from Amazon have not had to enter their credit/debit card or details. I believe if you enter your Amazon gift card code at checkout, after purchasing the products, you don't have to enter your credit card details.
      That is, make sure not to apply the gift card code to your Amazon account balance, just apply it directly at checkout.
      Yes, a debit card will work as well, however, I'm not sure if they have restrictions for certain banks. Thanks for stopping by and let me know how things work out for you with your Amazon purchase.

    • @AnthonyGodinho
      @AnthonyGodinho  6 лет назад

      Hi there, if you buying on Amazon for the first time, you will most probably need to enter credit or debit card information for security and verification purposes. Instead of a regular credit card, Amazon also accepts a pre-paid VISA card which you can get at retailers like Walmart. You are better off getting a pre-paid VISA card instead of an Amazon gift card if you don't have a regular credit card of debit card.

    @Twls7eDmushroomc; Hi, it's difficult to say what the exact issue is, but it may be that you don't have enough balance in your Amazon gift card for the products(s) you're trying to purchase. Alternatively, you may have enough balance to purchase the product, but there are also taxes and shipping costs involved. Try using the chat feature so you can chat live with an Amazon representative who will be able to pinpoint the exact issue.
    P.S: There is an issue with "replying" to RUclips comments, that's the reason I'm posting this response as a separate comment.

      @@AnthonyGodinho yeah that's kind of a good idea but there's only one problem I've had one of those Green Dot prepaid Visa cards before and let me tell you they're dangerous they charge too many fees including monthly fees and that's actually dangerous I had to close down my account because of that and also I haven't seen any video tutorials on anyone using a gift card claim code to buy it directly without the credit card and Bank information I've been trying to look for a video but I still haven't seen it, at least the good thing with the Walmart gift card like I said before they don't charge you nothing, once you have your money you keep your money and no stupid monthly fees or any other type of charge fees

    • @AnthonyGodinho
      @AnthonyGodinho  5 лет назад +1

      @SonicX15 * yeah, I hear you. True, many of these pre-paid VISA cards charge you fees, though there are ones that don't charge you. I have credit cards, so I had no issues, but I can understand how frustrating it can be for those that don't. I do like the convenience shopping at Amazon, the range of products they have and getting same day and 2-day shipping via Amazon Prime. Also, I believe the credit card is only required for first-time buyers, once they verify, you don't need it again. I've not shopped online at Walmart, but do like their policies. I'm sure Amazon loses a lot of business because of this stringent credit/debit card policy.

      Hi there, thanks for sharing your experience with us here. Yeah, I believe some of the digital purchases require a credit/debit card to be used because of usage rights depending in which country you are. I'm told that they use the credit/debit card to confirm the location. I'm glad that you were able to get your refund promptly. Overall, I've found their customer service very responsive. Thanks again for taking the time to share your feedback and experience...it's much appreciated!

      @corey Varnum Yeah, Amazon requires a debit or credit card (for verification purposes), but they won't charge the card if you have enough balance in your gift card.
      That being said, some of my viewers were able to use their gift card claim code directly at checkout, instead of first applying the claim code to your gift card balance.
      If you've already applied it to your Amazon account, you can use a prepaid VISA card which can be purchased at retailers like Walmart. Amazon accepts a prepaid VISA card even if it has a small balance like $10. Hope this helps!

    Hi, I have done 2 IAP before with no problem one of them was a $30 dollar one so I shouldn't have a problem this time.

    • @AnthonyGodinho
      @AnthonyGodinho  7 лет назад

      Hi again, yeah I agree, if you've conducted IAP before on Amazon, you shouldn't have an issue. Perhaps there is an issue at their end or with your account. Either way, it's best to contact Amazon Support. I generally use their online live chat service and have found it very useful.
      Once you're logged into your Amazon account, go to the bottom of the page and click the Help link. Then scroll to the bottom again and under the "Need More Help" section, you will find a Contact link. I'm sure they will be able to sort this out for you. If you get a chance, do let me know what the issue was.

      Hi there, if you haven't yet applied your gift card claim code to your Amazon account, try using the claim code directly at checkout (when paying for your order). This has worked for some of my viewers and they didn't have to use their debit or credit card. Alternatively, Amazon also accepts a pre-paid VISA card instead of a regular credit card. You can get a prepaid VISA card from stores like Walmart, even if it has a small balance like $10. Hope this helps!

      Hi there, as far as I know, you can apply multiple gift cards at checkout. I've personally not tried it. I have however, tried adding multiple gift cards to my Amazon account. You can check the Amazon gift card policy info link in the description section. Hope this helps.

      +Rusu Codrin Hi Rusu, yes, as per Amazon's policies, first-time buyers have to enter their credit or debit card information into their Amazon accounts, even if you're going to use a gift card. They will not charge your credit card as long as you have enough money in your gift card balance to pay for your purchases.
      Having said so, some of my viewers were able to bypass this requirement by using their gift card code directly at checkout instead of first applying it to their Amazon account. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any further questions.

      +Anthony Godinho Yesterday when I tried to buy something i saw that I can add the gift card code directly at checkout, but I would like to know if I can use more than one (let's say that I have 3 gift cards of 5$ and i want to use them all). If anyone know, please tell me. Thank you again!

      +Rusu Codrin Hi Rusu, I've personally not tried this, but I just checked with Amazon US (a rep by name Jonathan) confirmed to me that you can use multiple gift card codes directly at checkout. So hopefully it works for you. Do let me know how things work out. Note that there are some restrictions when using gift cards. You can check the Amazon gift card policies here: amzn.to/1WcNbjg

      Hi, have you tried placing an order? If so, does it ask you for a credit / debit card? Most probably, I think it will. One option is to get a pre-paid credit card, like the ones you can get at Walmart (even for $20). You should be able to use the pre-paid card when using your Amazon gift card. Amazon will not charge your credit card if you have sufficient money in your gift card to pay for your purchase. Hope this helps.

      @y o o n g l e s you may still be able to do it without a credit card. Trying placing an order and use your gift card balance. The transaction will not go through right away and could take up to 48 hours for Amazon to verify it.
      If it doesn't go through, I would suggest contacting Amazon customer service. They may be able to help you. I generally use the live chat option under the Help section. I've created a tutorial on how to use Amazon Live Chat. You'll find a link in the description section.

      Hi @Jh Lalnuntluangi yes, you can use the Canadian gift card only on the Amazon Canada website. Looks like you've already applied your gift card claim code to your Amazon account.
      Most probably, you will need to enter your credit or debit card information when using the gift card balance to pay for your purchase. Amazon also accepts a pre-paid VISA card instead of a regular credit card, even if it has a small balance like $10.
      This is required for verification and security reasons. Amazon will not charge your credit card if you have enough balance in your gift card to pay for your purchase. Hope this helps!

    Hi +TaniaWalker, be careful of sites that offer free Amazon gift card codes. Most of these sites are spam/scam sites. There are very few sites that offer points that can be collected and converted to Amazon gift card codes. I believe one of these sites is Swagbucks. I'm not a member of that site nor can I recommend it because I personally don't have experience with the site. But I do know some people who have got Amazon gift cards by being a member on the site and collecting points for signing up for offers, taking surveys, etc. Hope this helps.

    • @FelixR68
      @FelixR68 7 лет назад +1

      This may be from a while ago and you might have done research on the site but Swagbucks is by far a great site to use for gaining gift cards for a wide array of things and companies. I have used it for years and have racked up $1000+ dollars by doing the bare minimum amount of work for it. If someone were to put a good amount of time in each day they could score gift cards very easily.

      @AnthonyGodinho  7 лет назад

      FelixR68 Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback about your experience with Sawgbucks. Hi Sara, generally speaking for first-time buyers, Amazon requires a credit or debit card for verification purposes. They won't charge your credit or debit card if you have enough money in your gift card to pay for your purchase. But, some of my viewers were able to use the gift card claim code directly at checkout without having to enter credit or debit card information.
      So if you've not yet applied your gift card claim code to your Amazon account, then you can try using the claim code directly at checkout. Hope that works for you.

      Hi Angelo, sorry for the delayed response, I'm in a different timezone and just starting my day. Yes, I've spoken to Amazon in the past, and they have informed me that pre-paid VISA card is acceptable instead of a regular credit or debit card. Make sure to register the pre-paid VISA card to your name and address when you get it.
      In terms of your second question, what types of products are you looking to buy. I've personally not purchased stuff online without my credit card, other than Amazon. So at this time I don't know. But, I'm sure there are other sites out there that don't need a credit card and you can just use gift cards. Happy New Year!

      Hi there, I've personally not tried it, so I can't confirm if it will work on the mobile app. However, if it doesn't work, you can get in touch with Amazon and let them know that you don't have a credit card.

      @Nizar HD I don't think she used a credit card because in another comment she mentioned that she didn't have a credit card. So I asked her to use the gift card claim code directly at checkout instead of first applying it to her Amazon account. So I think she tried that and it worked for her.

    • @AnthonyGodinho
      @AnthonyGodinho  6 лет назад

      Hi Harry, Amazon may have changed a few things around since I last created this video, but the process should not be very different. I had to enter my shipping address too. But in my case, since my address was already in their system, I just had to check a box to select my address. This step was soon after I clicked the "Proceed to Checkout" box. Did you have any issues completing your order?

      @mehchocolate12 no, you only require the claim code at the back of the Amazon gift card. Were you able to successfully redeem the gift card?

      @@AnthonyGodinho do Amazon gift cards expire after a certain amount of time

    • @AnthonyGodinho
      @AnthonyGodinho  2 года назад

      @mehchocolate12 no there is no expiry dates on Amazon gift cards (as far as I know) at least not here in Canada. I generally apply the gift card(s) directly to my Amazon gift card balance, so it remains there for me to use at a later date. Hope this helps...cheers!

      +molly tupas you're welcome Molly ~ I'm glad it helped. Yes, some of my readers had the same experience as you. That is, they didn't have to use a credit card. I'm assuming you used your Amazon Gift card code at checkout rather than first applying it to your Amazon account. If you do it that way, you don't need to enter a credit card or bank account. Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback...it's much appreciated!

    Quick question:.
    I'm planning to buy a $32 Anime figure from Japan and I have $35 of gift card money in my Amazon account. Do I need to save up a $5 gift card for any fees or taxes? Or is $35 enough to pay for everything?

    • @AnthonyGodinho
      @AnthonyGodinho  5 лет назад

      Hi there, yes, in most cases there will be taxes and shipping so you may need more money in your gift card balance. Also, if you're using Amazon for the first time, you may need to enter your debit or credit card information. They will not charge your debit/credit card if you have enough of money in your gift card balance to pay for your purchase. Hope this helps.

    • @AnthonyGodinho
      @AnthonyGodinho  3 года назад

      Hi there, I think you will need to enter debit or credit card information. I would suggest contacting Amazon customer service (after 48 hours). Let them know that you don't have a credit card, they will try to verify it without one, but I think you will need an address.
      When I need to contact Amazon, I use the live chat option which you will find under the Help section. If you can't find it, check my tutorial on How to Use Amazon Live Chat. You will find the link in the description section. Hope it helps...cheers!

    if you use the card directly at check out does it the become a one use thing? Like if you have money left on it can you use it again even if u did not add it to your account?

    • @AnthonyGodinho
      @AnthonyGodinho  6 лет назад

      Hi there, if you add your credit card at checkout, I believe it should give you an option to save it to your Amazon account if you wish to. Once you save the credit card to your Amazon account, you can use it again to pay for another transaction on Amazon in the future. I can't quite remember if it automatically saves your credit card information to your account. You can always check to see if the credit card is saved and remove it, if you don't want it saved. Hope that answers your question. Cheers!

    Hello Anthony, quick question, what happen if u don't put down your credit card code? will it affect the ordering?

    • @AnthonyGodinho
      @AnthonyGodinho  8 лет назад

      Hey Jamin, based on Amazon policies, first-time buyers need to enter their credit/debit card info even if you're using your gift card. They won't charge your credit/debit card if you have sufficient gift card balance. If you don't enter the requested info, your transaction won't go through.
      However, some of my viewers were able to use their gift cards without entering their credit/debit card info. They entered their gift card code directly at checkout instead of first applying it to their Amazon account. So this may work for you too. Hope this helps.
