This recording has been obtained from Puja Bhattacharyya, due the kindness of Shri Abir Singh Khangura. (Shri Abir Singh Khangura is a disciple of Shri Ranadhir Roy.) Shri Khangura requested me not to use 'Pandit' in the video title, as his Guru did not like being addressed as a Pandit.

What a superb performance by Tuku da. I used to visit his home almost regularly in Shantiniketan, during my student days in 1982~ 1988.

This man plays ragas with such a true heart, deep conviction about the raga's nature, and shows honest riyaz. HIs conception about the raga's form is so clearly presented that every movement and phrase is illuminated in the heart. There is never a fickle note nor a wandering phrase. It is a rare experience to have the raga's visage so obviously and clearly appear suddenly before you as he has done. I hope that more awareness of musicians like him will help to popularize this approach to raga music, where the artist is at the service of the raga. Thank you!
