We all must, in all fairness, on many issues, give credit to Arun Jaitley's clarity and highly measured words and restrained expressions and willingness to acknowledge facts and figures without fanatically clinging on to any ideological affiliation or personality based animosity or adulation.
He neither gets into controversies nor creates any. What is striking about him is the clarity about what ever he does or speaks.
He does not come into the category of personalities who are deft at diplomatic dodging nor does he come under the category of politically street smart persons who evade the questions with logical fallacies and counter questioning nor does he come under the category of highly knowledgeable economist with past credentials and big qualifications tagged to his name in that area nor does he even suffer from the typical attribute of lawyers resorting to verbal diarrhea. He is a person with enormous restraint and control and never crosses the brief given to him but then performs really well. He did it as a leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha. He may not be a charismatic leader with mass appeal but a very effective, non controversial, performing manager with clarity. I think the RSS can observe him and start grooming him as an important leader in its chess board for effective management.
He acknowledged P.Chidhambaram of all the people and almost through body language contemptuously dismissed Rahul Gandhi's comments [ because all sane people in India know that Rahul would not have understood anything about the budget ]
Unfortunately the panelists who are used to names of only people belonging to Nehru and Gandhi family could not even remember the names of very tall and deserving leaders after whom some of the schemes have been named and went about saying like the typical blushing, ignorant and illiterate adolescents that 'you have named schemes under shaymaa parkasha mookerji, jayaprakash narayan etc' [ spelling made as pronounced by one the anchors]This shows the ignorance of the panelist and their unwillingness to even do a home work before coming to questioning or they should have diplomatically avoided such questions rather than exposing their profound ignorance.
Another issue on which the panelists [petty journalist more bent on questioning the present bunch of ministers] were ignorant that no previous budget had such a huge tax benefit for individual tax payers.

Indian journalism standards really need to improve, unless this video was edited, the way to interviewers interrupt the FM is horrible and would only be possible in a country like India on a channel like Times Now.

there is a reason forinterruption, if you were talking to someone on such a serious matter, you to would like to come in b/w.

    • @ekthaKC

and where are interruptions? they are asking just as he finishes! there is no talking over each other.

This is trademark of Indian journalism, people like Arnab who think being disrespectful, biased or interruption while talking is acceptable traits of a journalist.

Chicken Mutton being direct, not holding back, not making it a cakewalk for interviewee...

ek_tha_KC Interruption or raising voice is not how you rough up the interviewee, its by logical arguments & well researched questions.
A lot of things which we Indians do on a daily basis is clearly the definition of being disrespectful & rude. But its so common around us that its become an acceptable standard in our ecosystem. Interruption is one of them.

ARNAB GOSWAMI gor slap on his face from Vaidik. Newshour debate shows how arnab is frustated and jealous because a common journalist manage to interiview india most wanted.
