    Thank you. That's a lot of great information stuffed into a 10 min. Video. Especially for someone like me that is just getting into dual sport bikes. All of this will be duly noted for the future. Thanks again.

    Agree, you nailed it, lots of great points and suggestions - Tires are always my first mod......and I run tusk handguards (great quality), ricochet skid plate, IMS footpegs & seat concepts seats - happy with all of them and yes, easy to spend $2K+, lol. ......and the most important is your own body... helmet/armour/boots (and many cheap out on these) because your bike can be replaced, but you can't :)

      I agree whole-heartedly about the gear, but that's a whole separate video ;)

      I mean they're probably fine if you already have them. I just think you'll want an upgrade eventually.

    Modding a bike or personalizing a bike is part of the fun of owning a bike 👍🏻
    I agree with all of these mods and would add engine protection i.e. crash bars, gotta protect the heart of the machine that has gotten you 100 miles into nowhere. 👍🏻

    Hang around with some KLRistas and you'll find out many have more money in accessories than the bike is worth✌🤣
    Going to check those Tusk tires out. They have flared sides so it's a no brainer.

    Tires! Tires! I got the bike on a Thursday and I put my tires on Friday lol. I heard you mention in a video in the past that your original tires may have made you a worse rider and you had to unlearn some bad habits, or something along those lines.

    Thanks for this interesting perspective. I know most forums are full of… mods. OTOH, because I’m such a nerd I over-research every new bike, find the one that is most perfect for me, and pretty much run it stock. Maybe dual-sports are different (I have a sport bike and an ADV); I guess I’ll find out when Honda will finally take my money for a CRF300L. Thanks again.

    Great mods Sir! Question for you: do you prefer your DRZ400 or the Africa Twin? If you had to pick only one of them to do it all.

    Tusk discontinued the highland rackless saddle bags which I am super bummed about. They were a super killer option to the ultra expensive mosko.. I have the Tusk Dsports on my CRF450L and they have good road manners, haven't had them off road yet.

    How do you feel about the Giant loop top rack vs something larger like the Tusk Top rack? Great Video.

    • @DorkintheRoad
      @DorkintheRoad  3 года назад

      I like the smaller rack because I feel like it's less in my way when I'm not using it, especially on tight trails and stuff. I'm sure the bigger racks are fine, though. I just don't like it to be wider than the bike.

  • @wendygerrish4964
    @wendygerrish4964 Год назад

    I used a frame pack on my motorcycle rear rack. If I crashed or what..its easier to packout all your stuff instead of separate hard to handle bags.

    Case Savers. Don’t ride off-road without them unless you enjoy doing trailside JB Weld repairs.

    • @OgreMoto
      @OgreMoto 3 года назад

      It really depends on the bike. On the DRZ with its paper thin, glass like cases, absolutely. The majority of other bikes can actually take big hits to the cases and they won’t break at all.

  • @marioleon9879

    Great mods! Question: DRZ400 or Africa Twin? If you had to pick just one to do it all.

    • @DorkintheRoad
      @DorkintheRoad  3 года назад +2

      I wouldn't want to give up the trail riding stuff I like so I'd probably just put a bigger tank and pannier racks on the DRZ

    Ive been pronouncing A-chair-bees incorrectly this whole time. I've been saying ass-er-bis.

      Mr. Ben, you are correct with the pronunciation of the Italian word being pronounced a-chair-bies. Back in the 1970’s when I first saw the name I assumed the same until Dirt Bike magazine had an article about the company & let me know not only how to pronounce but why it had such a strange name when I found out they are based in Italy. They also said that the Italians are sensitive to how their name is pronounced. Thanks for letting others know so they don’t have any international iscidents in the future!!!!!

    I notice a theme...products can be a good value if bought from a reputable company. But the really cheap stuff is crap...I have had the same experience.
