Along with tournament practice videos from Randy, this is my favorite. I try and figure it out right along with you. Wonder if you could do a live event where viewers vote on options and “tell” you what to do.
Thanks for sharing your response! That is a unique idea! I will put in my notes and see what I need to do to get this done. I know one thing would be is go to a lake that has cell service. This lake I was at has no service at all....which got me in trouble this trip. My wife was trying to get ahold of me and never could.... Thanks for watching - Jimi
Hahahah losing that one at the end with your face edited in was hilarious! Sorry for the lost fish, we all know that pain and you did a good job wearing it 😂
It was a lot of fun to see how you worked this challenge. I would really like to see more videos like this, it doesn't even have to be any kind of challenge. It can be just you breaking down water and saying what worked and what didn't.
Yes they are! I am familiar with one a lot more then the other two... this day here was the fourth time I have been on this lake. I plan on being out there more. Thanks for watching - Jimi
Loved this video. You are getting more comfortable with your explanations on camera! I don’t have livescope, but when you didn’t have a depth finder up front, that was tough!
April and May are definitely a time of year when Livescope is less important than others. The fish are shallow and pretty locatable for the most part. I enjoy these Catch 15 challenges, and this was a good spin on it!
I appreciate the feedback Todd! I was trying to put the livescope in a bad spot with this challenge. I just did not execute during this trip. Thanks for watching - Jimi
@@BassFishingDeclassified My biggest question that you didn't really cover in the video is if you think having had the LVS turned on, would you have caught the couple more big fish? Would it have helped you find or stay in better areas, or maybe helped you target larger ones?
Good point… I personally think it would of helped me target productive areas. Just evening being to see how many fish were on the point or the flat. May of made me stay there longer.
Appreciate the feedback! I tried to throw a little of my personality in this video. I enjoyed making it / editing it. I am going to try and continue videos similar to this. Livescope is currently staying on the boat 🤣🤣😬😬
Yes sir! This was my fourth time ever there and first time to fish it during the spring. I think I have missed out on fishing it. I typically would be at some other lakes .. Thanks for watching - Jimi
Don't throw it away! From someone who will never be able to afford one, treasure what you have. My local lake is notorious for being pressured and difficult to fish. What a blessing one would be for me!
Love the catch 15 challenges! Helps to get into the mindset of how to breakdown a lake and pivot as needed. I also miss the vs battles you guys used to do at FTM
I appreciate it! We have discussed the challenge videos. They are fun to film. A lot of editing involved but getting opportunities to meet up around schedules is a big hurdle.
I love Garmin. Use to use them in the oilfield to mark points. They make software that can land airplanes without any human interaction. No other sonar brand can do that. But the fact that many states have banned livescope on state waters is a sign of the times. I have witnessed with crappie fisherman how detrimental too much technology can be. Folks who use livescope can be fisherman but never an angler.
LOL. I fished a tournament last Saturday and left my livescope off. Finished 19 out of 61 boats. It felt good just to fish. Your right, Randy was proud 😂
One thing I did also think about this challenge that I shared with my fellow anglers was... If it does go off in the middle of the tournament.. be prepared to fish without it. This was a good practice day for that - Jimi
Really enjoyed this video 📹 I can't afford a livescope so this was a great video. Thanks for sharing. The only thing if I had one than maybe I could fish deep. 🐟 thanks for sharing 👍
Any chance of you making a video discussing oxbow lakes please??? The one I live on is the result of a levy having been built along the Arkansas River. Lots of cypress, no mats. There's a lot of pressure but from the research I've done on oxbows, all the "traditional" bass fishing patterns are thrown out the window. I'm hoping you can show me something that can help me out fish the tourney anglers in their fancy boats lmao
I would love to make a video on fishing old oxbows. I made one earlier this year on one up in NE AR. This was a winter bladed jig video. I hope to get back to one of those style of lakes by the summer.
I fish Watts Bar and the Emory river totally blind. From a kayak. I don't have 2D or a even a depth finder. I catch plenty of fish. Honestly been thinking hard about getting a little 4" 2D unit, but I havent gone through with it. Just with 2D and knowing depth, I'm betting I can double my catches.
Great Challenge!!! No live scope and you were catching bass and sorry even lost a few but that's fishing!!! Good job!!!!! Like to see more videos like this one!!! Stay Safe & God Bless

I understand but throwing away Livescope. I'm torn on that but I do learn and get a lot out of the y'all's video's. I also have my own understanding too. So I constantly learn.
@@BassFishingDeclassified Yeah I don't use a unit right now but they do help not sure about the whole fish thing if they don't show up on the Garmin Livescope forward face sonar is true or not but I do know experience and learning holds true though.
I would like to see you do a video like it was when I was in high school in the early 60’s. There was no such thing as a bass boat, a depth finder or a trolling motor. You used whatever boat you could find, sometimes wood or sometimes tin powered by a small hand operated outboard. Do this on a lake you’ve never been on before because there was no such thing a lake maps. The depth finder was your anchor and anchor rope. Catching bass then was fun and it still is.
Yes sir! I tell kids I coach on the fishing team how I used to go out and catch fish at big lakes without all the electronics. Brings back good memories for sure!
I’m a retired teacher myself. I think it would be a good exercise for your team to spend a day on the lake just like it was when we started out. Go to a lake they haven’t fished and use no modern technology to gather info on the lake or contact buddies that have fished the lake. Use small boats with small hand operated outboards. They only thing they have to help them fish is an anchor. They can use their normal tackle that they usually use and life jackets of course. Then they have to concentrate on learning the water, finding the bass locations and why the bass is at that location. If they keep what they caught and where they caught secret till the end of day and don’t get help from their buddies, I think it will make a great discussion session at the end of the day when they all compare notes. Doing it the old fashioned way like we did will really help them understand the bass and I believe it will help them put technology to more effective use. All done with your supervision on the water of course. Just a suggestion from a retired teacher.
It was one of those moments where I watched the challenge go right in front of my eyes. The day before I caught a lot of fish flipping similar cover at a different lake and did not lose one.... that is fishing though! - Thanks for watching - Jimi

I will speak for Gussy. He won the elite series event there and I am not sure he had it on his boat then but lets say none of the bassmaster elite professionals had it on their boats for the classic. Gussy still would of found the fish with his side image/down image. Which he used to find the structure relating to creek channels. He still would of caught fish with using 2d sonar up front. The technique he was doing is something he is really good at and has done for a long long time. If the forward facing technology would of been that much of a player for the classic... then the other guys would of been closer. Thanks for watching Greg! - Jimi
