    It's not the original recipe unless it's got cocaine in it. In all seriousness, this was an interesting video to watch.

    Good evening. I'm curious on where you found the oil's you used for this recipe? Thanks in advance, great content.

    Just FYI, the queen’s park swizzle is a classic cocktail invented in Trinidad at the Queen’s Park Hotel in Queen’s Park Savannah. The hotel closed decades ago but the recipe lives on.

    great vid! love the work that you put in as well as the attention to detail.. but how did it taste?

    • @VintageAmericanCocktails
      @VintageAmericanCocktails  5 месяцев назад

      Exactly like coke. It’s crazy that such a small diluted amount of oil can carry so much flavor but it does. Unfortunately now I have a ton of coke flavoring I don’t know what to do with. Sometimes I’ll add 2 or 3 drops to soda water to make a flavored soda water. Thank you! Glad you liked it.

    I measured out the 30g Yerba Mate and 15g Bay Leaf, my amount looked way more than what yours looks like in this video. How did you measure, by weight? Also, how long did you let it sit in the alcohol before straining it?

    • @VintageAmericanCocktails
      @VintageAmericanCocktails  6 месяцев назад +2

      Woohoo! I makes me happy someone is actually making this. Yeah I did it by weight. A little more or less leaf is fine. As long as it’s around 2.5 oz of extract it should be fine. If it’s less just add the amount you made. 2 oz would be fine. Leave it for 1 or 2 days. The finer the grind the less time it needs. Good luck!

    Thank you for this recepy . The thing i didn't understand is why you didn't add Acid Phosphate directly to syrup ? 2nd one is that instead of ethanol , what we can use in order to dissolve all kind oils those you mentioned . Thank you

    • @VintageAmericanCocktails
      @VintageAmericanCocktails  7 месяцев назад +3

      I like that you noticed that. I added it to the glass because that is how it was done pre-mass production of sodas. More acid can be added this way than can be added to one that will sit on a store shelf. A high acid environment will breakdown syrups over a few weeks-month. If you’re a large manufacturer it doesn’t matter because they get packaged into bottles very quickly(and they significantly reduce the acid in their drinks), but a soda fountain in the 1800s would have added it at the time of making the drink. In addition to helping their syrups last longer they did this because different acids could also be added. Someone could ask for a vanilla soda and they would add 1ml of citric acid solution but someone else could ask for a vanilla phosphate and they would add 5ml of acid phosphate instead. Drinks could be made more or less acid depending on preference too. Also a freshly made soda just tastes better. It has more of a sparkling taste and feel to it that one where the acids and syrups have sat together for a while don’t. Sodas you buy in store tend to be in the 3-3.5 ph range but a fresh made one can be in the 2.8-3 range which tastes better.
      Pure Alcohol really is the best ingredient for mixing in the oils but I’m going to need to experiment with other things because I get this question enough. I would try propylene glycol or vegetable glycerin in place of the ethanol. Ethanol can dissolve around 5% of oil to its volume, hence why I used 8oz of ethanol, but I’m not sure off the top of my head how much oil those other two can dissolve.

    Very nice! How about the coca cola of 2024. Can you make videos on that too! And pepsi and sprite!
    We all would love to watch these as well!
    Thanks for these beautiful vids ❤ and looking forward for more..

      I made a Pepsi video already. It’s pretty similar to coke. I also just finished filming sprite. I’m glad you like the videos! I originally made them to boost my website’s ranking but I have a lot of fun making them. My hope is people actually makes these. I try to make the videos so it’s clear what to do step by step and keep all the focus on the drinks.

      Alcohol is ethanol. Ethanol is the only alcohol you can drink “safely”. The others are not safe for consumption.
