Believe all the Color’s look gorgeous ! Even if the dark pink does not meet your expectation, it is just BEAUTIFUL ! The light pink as the pop colour, the brown and dark pink as the 2 contrasting ones : Jamie !!!!! I would fall immediately in love with the shawl before it had been casted on. 🙃😀😆😘. So brave to dye your own yarn for this MKAL. GOOD LICK. 🎶🪁☘️
Thanks for the encouragement! I still had fun dyeing even if it didn't go exactly as I expected. I am looking forward to a quick trip to the yarn store today to see what I can find. Thanks for watching!
I know absolutely nothing about yarn dyeing and I was super excited to see this video. It's really neat to watch the dyeing process. I'm sorry you didn't like the medium pink that you dyed, as you were doing it, I was all, "Oooh!!" because I loved it 😅. Your kiddos might love a sweater or cardigan from it, my seven year old loves all the pinks 😀
I think you did great! You were successful for two of your colors. I think the magenta-y yarn is very pretty, maybe not for this project but it's still a win! 🏆 Also, you have a perfect mini to bring to the yarn store to find your third color. This was a very ambitious project and you successfully dyed yarn that is beautiful! Thanks for sharing your process.💜
Thanks for watching! I had fun anyway, even if I was only able to get two of the three colors. I'll keep at it and next year definitely give myself some more time. I will keep you posted on what I find at the yarn store!
The colors are all so pretty - great job! Looks like there's so much work and patience that goes into the dying process. Good luck at the yarn store. Hope you find the color that you want. Looking forward to your next video to see what you found. Take care, Kris K from Connecticut 🧶🌻🍀
It was a lot of fun dyeing for a particular project. I have never tried to do that before. I'll let you know what I find for the third color. I am hoping to go to the store today! Thanks for watching
Love your colors! I have six skeins (two of each) for the same reason. I may still be changing my mind until the last minute. You di a beautiful job dyeing yarn.
I had a good time dyeing up the yarn even if it surprised me along the way. I will see what I find at the yarn store. So far I am thinking the brown and light pink would be my main colors, but we shall see! Thanks for watching
Stumbled upon this, and omg I love your energy! Dying adventures are great (-or not so, when they don't go as planned ;_; but that jewel tone dark pink is g o r g e o u s!! Pair it with mohair and make a top, maybe? ) :D
Love the light pink and dark brown…..and, I love the ‘mistake x 2’. From my viewing perspective, it is simply a gorgeous color and would fit beautifully! But, I’m not going to stop you if you have to go to the yarn store….l😂😂😂
Haha - I am really looking forward to a visit to the yarn store. I haven't been in a while, and it will be nice to see what's new. I am happy with the two colors that I got, so hopefully I can come up with a third that will work. Thanks for watching!
Oh I loved watching this!! So fun to see you dyeing up stuff! Such a shame you can't get that lovely colour again though, even though I love your oops yarn, it has to be right for you. I have my fingers crossed you find what you need at the yarn store!
I am looking forward to a shopping trip today. Hopefully I don't get too ridiculous with the buying. I'll let you know what I come up with. Thanks for watching!
Ohhhh, I am dying mine too! I was between a dark brown, dark gray, and a dark purple. From my samples I went with dark purple and rose pink. I am not sure if the contrast is enough. I am leaving the 5th skein natural. I LOVE your choices and I even really like your mistakes🥰🥰🥰
Feel better Karen. Love your sweater! I seen your interview with Irina, great job! You must’ve been so excited! Which one will be your colour pop? Have you decided? I’m anxious to see/hear, I love it! I also dyed my own, all tonals, a dark brown, a mustard yellow and a bright red. I also crocheted myself (including made my own pattern) a bag for the MKAL! Soooo excited....countdown is on 4 days.....wish I was closer I’d send you some reusable zip ties! Are you going for tonals or more solids? I dyed my own yarns too I do it just for myself and giveaways so I don’t sell my yarns. Your yarns turned out beautifully! I sure can’t wait to follow along with your shawl knit. Is your ravelry name on your description/drop down chevron? I’m knottyyarnies there too so I’ll add you to follow your MKAL.
Good job on the dyeing! I can't wait to see what you knit up. My Ravelry name is @knotfancyknitter. I will be following along to see how your shawl turns out!. Thanks for watching.
I may do that. I added some brown to the skein already and somehow it turned into a jewel tone?? I am always so surprised by the outcome of the dye pots.
Good job, nearly there, when I watched last time I thought wow she's amazing the she can recreate mini colours to full skeins, I don't think I could, hope you find your last skein at the yarn store. I have some possible options I have dyed previously that I might use for the mystery but I am still in resist mode as I have cardigans I need in my wardrobe.
Haha, yes - turns out it is tricky to recreate minis in a full skein (who knew??). I am looking forward to heading to the yarn store today. I would love to hear what cardigans you plan to knit, as I need to cast one on after the MKAL for sure!
@@knotfancyknitter I am knitting the Maudie Cardigan by Truly Myrtle in a fashion colour converting it to a v neck, Started the Sparkle Cardigan for the Joji Fall Kal but might need to restart as it feels too loose (guage issues). Next on the list is Dolly by Truly Myrtle. but with all the hype I might Join you for the MKAL as it was so much fun last year and I love my Shawlography.
You could always use the light pink and the oops pink as the main and contrast and use the brown for the accent. It may not be what you expected but they turned out gorgeous 💜
I'm going to see what I find at the yarn store today. If nothing jumps out at me, I could definitely use the oops pink. It is a pretty color, just not what I originally had in mind. Story of my yarn dyeing adventures! Thanks for watching.
Turns out I should have ordered more - oops! Next year I will definitely give myself more yarn to work with and a little more time. Thanks for watching!
I LOVE your colors!!! How fun!😊
You made a valiant effort. Good on you 😉. Hope you found the color you wanted.
Safe to say that did not go how I expected! I probably won't be able to get to the store until Monday, so it's going to be a bit. Thanks for watching.
This was so fun to watch! Thanks for documenting your yarn dying! Can't wait to watch your progress.
I'm glad you liked it. I'll keep you posted on what I get for my third color. I'm looking forward to casting on this Thursday.
So fun to watch! You should be very proud of all your accomplishments. Keep it up!
Thanks! It is fun to see what happens, even if it’s not what I planned
Thanks for this video, fun to watch your adventures! Love the dark brown and light pink combo
Thanks! I am so happy with how those two turned out

I am looking forward to poking around the yarn store. Hopefully I can contain myself and not buy too much! Thanks for watching.

This was so interesting to watch, Karen! I know nothing about dying. Good luck at the yarn store, the dark pink really is a lovely shade :)
Thanks! I don’t know that much about dyeing either 😆 but it is fun to try
That dark pink is stunning. The others are pretty too.
Thanks! I am looking forward to seeing how everything knits up
We’ll at least your oops is still pretty! I am dyeing up yarn for a sweater tomorrow- wish me luck!

You can add a little bit of brown to your pink dye bath ,I guess that will give you the right shade
I may do that. I added some brown to the skein already and somehow it turned into a jewel tone?? I am always so surprised by the outcome of the dye pots.

@@knotfancyknitter I have a ton of “not what I was aiming for” hanks, too, lol. I think it’s a right of passage for dyers. 😂💜
In the future you can combine the small zip ties end to end to make a handle
This is such a good idea!
I wish I had of thought to order some bare yarn to naturally dye for the MKAL, maybe next time.
Turns out I should have ordered more - oops! Next year I will definitely give myself more yarn to work with and a little more time. Thanks for watching!
I was wondering where you got your starter kit from? If you don’t mind me asking !
I got my starter kit from Dharma Trading Co. It had three primary colors, black, and some citric acid. It was definitely enough to get started.
@@knotfancyknitter thank you so much I have been wanting to just dye some for my own projects but didn’t know where to start!
I’d be interested in your oopsies if you still have them. 💜💕💜💕
Haha - thanks! I will let you know if I pop them in the Etsy store.
