Appreciate this series! Looking to get into more free diving and bringing my son along on that journey. Similar to you I'm in the same boat 6'2" and skinny 😉, may check out the custom route.
Thanks for the video! If you would like to try a spearfishing/freediving mask the C4Carbon Condor might be a great fit for you. No hard parts on the mask, small volume and a ton of visibility. When new the defogging process is a bit of a hassle but the 2 I have, have become my absolute favorites.
Been waiting for this video! Just getting into spearing here in Puerto Rico, have some items added to the shopping cart now! Appreciate all the content Aaron
This is great information. I'm heading to the Bahamas on a sailboat this winter and was going to try and spear my own food. But I'm a total n00b. I am a SCUBA diver, but have never free dived, so I'm looking for any information on beginning spear fishing.
@@KeyWestWatermanSo I guess I would like a video talking about pole spears for the total idiot. How long should it be, which tip is best, and how to use it?
Have you tried a head strap for the GoPro instead, my camera mask hurts my head also so I find I use my favorite mask with a GoPro head strap super convenient especially with a wetsuit or rash guard it's really not noticeable at all
I grew up in Titusville also. Man O Wars were bain of my ocean time. Not seen a single one in your videos. They show up in the Keys? Other Stinging jellies etc to watch out for?
haha I know all about em! and yea we get a ton down here, just don't make it inshore very often like they do there. normally get swept north in the Gulf Stream. I see them offshore fishing all the time.
What are your thoughts on DiveR fins? They are my top choice for freediving, especially due to their Innegra material, which offers greater durability than carbon fiber. I also really enjoy my Garmin MK2S watch, which I use daily as a smartwatch and also for running, biking, and swimming. Do you know how it stack up against Suunto? Lastly, are you sponsored by Neptonics? I've noticed your preference for their products and am curious if it's due to sponsorship or personal choice. Thanks, and I enjoy your videos!
I've never personally kicked a pair, the few I've handled in the past felt heavy. Maybe a different material. But everyone I know who kicks them loves them. Alchemy is the one carbon fin I've never snapped. And I dive hard. Never used a Garmin, I don't use all those other features, I just want a dive watch. That particular Suunto is just for freediving doesn't have the other features. And I am not sponsored by Neptonics, they actually don't do sponsorships. I've been buying their products since I first started spearfishing and have never been disappointed. Ive been buying for them for so long I asked if they'd be willing to do a promo code for my viewers which they were kind enough to do. I don't push products I don't personally use or believe in.
Great video. I have a DJI OSMO and have bought 3 underwater cases for it. They all leaked or fogged up. I have cleaned and greased the orings but nothing helps. They were about $15 each on Amazon. What kind of case do you use? Love the camera better than my go pro, but I don’t have the leaky problem with the go pro.
I use the DJI dive housing they sell, I never use the aftermarket stuff from Amazon when it comes to that type of accessory. I have 3 dive housings for my DJI's ( I have several of the cameras) and they are all DJI brand and have never had an issue with it. If you have an issue with fogging I just stick some pieces of paper towel in the housing.
What is the speed difference between the long fins and the shorter fins? When you swim against the currents in the back country (mangroves), will the short fins work against a strong current?
You're gonna get more "kick" or thrust from the longer blades, thats what they are used for. I like the small ones when going through tight areas, or where I don't need that extra kick to get down deep. and speed depends on the person, I can fight the current just fine with the shorties, but I spend a lot of time in the water.
Any recommendations for a wahoo charter captain in the keys ? I do a lot of dirty water shore diving in Tampa / st Pete and I’m looking to see some blue water and not have to dive that deep.
My wife and I really like watching your videos. I spear she doesn't lol. What foot pockets would you recommend? I just bought some carbon. I use fin socks living in California colder water thanks.
love to hear it! really depends on the shape of your foot, flatter wider foot. I love the pathos pockets. Alot of people like the C4's ive never used them but seem to be better for a more narrow foot.
Hey Aaron! Quick question for you. Do you have a gear bag that you use? I'm looking for something that can hold all my gear while on my paddle board, be semi water resistant, get baked in the sun etc. Thanks!
You should try Chinese steamed snapper with ginger, scallions, and soy sauce. Great way to eat small whole fish. Been having mangrove snappers that was for years now.
Clams can straighten it out! I personally love whole mangroves! My grand dad built the keys house in 1955! Whole snapper is a family tradition. However I’ve never tried it this way! Love to see you and Clams dish it up. For the dream, yeeeew! 😎🤙

yea I hate the strap, moves around too much and misses the shot alot.
Nice informative vid, Aaron!

I get that pain between my eyes if I dive for a good while. I’m using an octomask.
yea it seems that issue is pretty common!
How did you make that float. Maybe you could make a how to video.
Wsp Arron , love from key west
thanks for tuning in! love to hear it!
do u ever plan on visitng the indo pacific and maybe target dog tooth or any other types of fish?
maybe one day! nothing planned but we shall see!

I feel ya on the dirty water. I live near Redington and our area is some of the dirtiest on the west Fl coast! We do what we can!

I actually use a fish basket, lol was using the word bag metaphorically in this one. Koah makes a pretty nice bag though.
Thanks!
Aaron, possible hurricane heading your way as per Mr Weatherman on U-tube.
God's speed. ❤
Watching it! Thank you!
@@KeyWestWaterman Welcome.
so how do you make those reflectors on your floating devise
I buy them like I said. Murk crew flashers.
This will be very useful when I dive down 5 feet and turn back because I can't equalize my ears.
lol
Do you use safety gear such as an emergency beacon?
I do not, I have one on the boat but not on my person.
Woohoo!
Thanks for watching!
I have problems with my weights sliding around on my belt. Do you use any type of weight keeper?
Bravo
thanks for watching!
What abbot a dive bag, what brand?
Yo bubba. Here in kw. Saw this. kwhs has a spearfishing club. Anyway being a guest speaker. Not sure how to communicate with you. Just a thought
I've already met up with the club twice and going again next week.
You mean goggles, tube, and flippers?
yes
👍✌
Thanks for watching!
You should try Chinese steamed snapper with ginger, scallions, and soy sauce. Great way to eat small whole fish. Been having mangrove snappers that was for years now.
Thanks for the tips!

SPEAR TIPS ? TYPES ? AND ON WIEGHTS HOW MUCH ACCORDINGLY ?
weight is hard to cover, everyone is different but will make a basic video no weighting yourself. And will add spear tips to the list!
