...and the most listenable. It might have something to do with that furious but precise approach that Steven Isserlis displays in his performance. Music designed for excess, played so well by all involved. A great concert.
I got started on Shosto some 6 moths ago ( violin concerto). Then it was #7 and next was this incredible piece. I am anxious to explore more from this composer: currently immersed in his 24 preludes…!!! It seems every piece is more… intelligent than the … previous one!
this is the MOST intelligent Shostakovich I have ever heard
Yes… but I’m going crazy with it 😢

Мастерство виолончелиста потрясает!!!Максимум выразительности и очень выразительный оркестр!!! Браво!!!
The cadenza is magnificent……
Isserlis is such a genius
The best versión, i love Hanan Chang olso
Who is the hornist??
He's really awesome..
It's common.
I'd imagine that's the MCO's principal hornist, José Vicente Castelló.
Great performance
Omg isserlis uses steel core strings!!!
Only for a few concertos
The stomping is so loud you'd think it was in the sheet music
