What a delicious treat!!!!! Nothing like NYC humor, food for the heart and soul. Thank you, Sid Caesar, for the contributions you made to comedy. And for jump-starting our funny bones...May you keep them laughing up on the ultimate floor called heaven...
This is a real treat. Listening to one of the greatest geniuses of comedic sketches, Sid Caesar. Mel Brooks, one of Sid’s writers, believed he was the best comedic sketch artist of all time. Watch some of the classic sketches from “Your Show of Shows” and you be the judge. Timeless humor from one of the very best in the business.
A genuine comic genius and a lovely man. He belonged to a generation of comics who knew their craft well and let the audience enjoy the show. God bless you Sid
To see him in such a deteriorated physical state is very sad. It is what the advancing years do to us. In his heyday, Sid Caesar was a powerful man as has been commented on by those who knew him way back then. His mind is as razor sharp as ever as witnessed by his foreign language double talk.
I was horrified!! My first thought was that I would rather have never seen it. But I would watch anything he was doing...and it turns out he is still sharp...that's the most important....I'm getting on and my mind is now far more important....but my mind never equaled his..he is brilliant!
Sad? How lucky he was, and us too, that he lived to age 91 with his mind intact. To me, sad is the person who lives but loses the ability to pass on their wisdom and humor.
Always loved Mr. Caesar ever since I saw him as "Melville" at a 25th anniversary showing of IAMMMMW, when I was all of four years old. (His gorgeous blue eyes on a huge drive-in movie screen were really spectacular to behold, even for a small child!!!) Mr. Caesar was of my grandparents' generation (hailing from the same part of NY), and was one of the very few celebrities I would have loved to have met in person. He seemed to be both unpretentious & wise: a *rare* combination, especially in Hollywood! I could rewatch this entire interview ad infinitum. In fact, the only part I disliked was where Mr. Caesar self-deprecatingly insisted he was "no great actor." Whatevah!! I respectfully submit he was one of the best of his generation, or of any other. "Hail, Caesar" & RIP, forever . . . .
He is & shall be a golden treasure!!! Loved Joe mantagna's last question to Sid. A" prose", if you will. I once wrte a story for English literature given to me by my father. It had to be read to the class. I was nervous, sure. I responded to Dad by saying something like, "awe, come on Dad, nothing? No one's gonna believe that! " I ended up getting an a- plus!!!
I wish that people had asked about a couple things like Sid's experience on IT'S A MAD MAD ETC WORLD. Also, a little more time talking about Howie Morris who always seems to be left in the shadows but who was part of the 3-some that made up so much of his show. I don't recall much about Nanette Fabray either., or what how much his approach was affected by going from live to tape. But, overall, a great conversation.
The Chaplin movie Sid is referring to with the blind flower seller is “City Lights” not “Modern Times”. Chaplin agonized over how to convey to the blind girl that he was wealthy. This is what Sid is speaking about.

One of the all all all time greats.
A true gem of humanity. The tale of Einstein is an example of how important Sid was.

so many profound life teachings!!! Sid was more than a comedian, he was a philosopher and a deep mind who has so much to offer!!
Bookmarked. Permanently. Love him forever. Love him. You know he's in heaven, for sure.
Wish Sid and the rest were all here today .

One of the great Pioneers of Television. RIP.
Truly lovely.
As a kid, my first recollection of Sid Cesar was in the movie Grease. Little did I know, the coach was the giant in the movie.
Just an incredible talent ! Unmatched by anyone in T V or entertainment history
You talk about talent, nobody measured up to this man but Charlie Chaplin, I love Groucho Marx
such a treasure -

This was heaven to enjoy during the virus hell

Thank You ‼️
Joe is a good host.
Where do we find the date of this tape? RUclips formats never show the date.
Isn’t the date this happened important?!
