I'm pretty the opening isn't from an opera considering there weren't many opera's in Latin but it definitely sounds Early Renaissance but WHAT PIECE IS IT?!?! When I saw this live, I literally gasped in the beginning and had my mouth wide open in shock that they added it in!
It's Christus Factus est Pro Nobis by Bruckner (1884). I'm not that knowledgeable, but my understanding is that it's not technically opera. That's definitely not a mashup you hear every day. :) But it sure worked well with the song. What other group could do a mashup like this? Literally stunning.
