Those are what the bad guys get through the bank vault doors with in the movies. You're all set if the farming thing goes south... Best regards from Indiana.
I think you did a great job! Every new tool has a learning curve. I'm 63 and still learning and the lessons don't get any cheaper. But I am fortunate I don't have any student debt LOL
Definitely one of my favorite things to do at work. A good tip is you can "idle" it after it lights by being gentle on the trigger. We also ordered some 3foot rods, it makes a big difference not having to change them every 5 seconds. And the bigger the hole you can create the more the pin shrinks hopefully allowing it to come out.
We used to use an 1/8” pipe about 6-8 feet long to blow thru pins. You heat the end of the pipe cherry red with a torch to ignite the oxygen. There are RUclips videos to explain the set up. Saves $ on those rods!
Great job, we use Mag rods ''burning bars'' in the casting industry to open up holes in furnaces - usually the rods are 1/2'' or 3/4'' diameter and 8 feet long - its quite a sight to see
They're awesome on pins for sure! The long ones you need to have a spotter telling you if your level it will burn right through the surrounding steel if you get going crooked. I was told this by someone who went a bit off level.
You can also use the O-lances to turn tough steel in to a few hours annular drilling job and to get cable in and anchored into things... the blow-way is a bit rough for threading but that can be done to an extent. Andy, get a welder's respirator kit. I got mine from Sundstrom, very happy with their products... that smoke coming off the lance is no joke: it will [not acceptable on youtube language] you up eleven ways sideways and leave you wearing a diaper around your throat. You should see how fast that lance will go through its own airline... some short bits of channel iron and some magnetic welding braces make quick guides for hoses like that and excellent props to ensure you're pushing straight.
We used a homemade lance made from an old cutting torch and we lit it with a stick welder , we had a tab brazed onto where attached the rod the so we could clamp the stinger and we grounded to the part we were working on . When we got it lit pull the stinger off and get after it.
They make longer rods than standard 2 foot. Less waste because they're fairly expensive. Been using the arc-air oxy lance brand since early 90s. Great tool saves a lot of sledge hammering. 👍
Reach out to Clint at C&C Equipment, they use this unit all the time to blast thru pins on their big dozers. Maybe he can provide a little input. They do work great tho.
I watched a guy struggle getting pins out,and his neighbor kept saying he knew how to get em out! So,he agreed to let him try,he went across the street an grabbed his Sulaire and an 80 pneumatic jack hammer! He got em out! Was kinda funny!
It might be useful for the NEXT such pin to have a thru hole before installation. In the future, you could get some Liquid Nitrogen and cool the pin and make it shrink. OR, it might make since to drill a hole in a solid pin with your magnetic base drill.
with some time and use you will get better and use less of o2 and them rods i would also ask about longer rods ,maybei bet you are a but under what it would take to get them pins out with out that lance
@@gregshearer423 Plasma cutters work well for accuracy but there are thickness limitations. Drilling a hole through the work piece (1/4") and blowing nitrogen through will shrink the pins.
I was going to mention that about you was pushing on it. Which not how they work. The 1/4 inch rod is for 2inch with oxygen set at 50. The 3/8 inch is for thicker and oxygen set at 60 to 70.
That's a lot of blowback, but then so is a torch when you are digging a hole. Can you see where you are cutting, or is it just a shower of sparks? Looks like visibility may be kind of poor, and you may risk cutting out the side of a pin and digging into the good part.
@@FarmingFixingFabricating guess I haven’t seen exactly what you have for welders. But from what I’ve seen I would guess you’d have one that would run enough amps. I use one at work burning pins out of scissor hoists, and the bolts on cylinders. But then again I’m no expert maybe you’re not supposed to use it for that but it works for me lol. If you have some free time look up ICweld on you tube think you’d like him. He has quite a few videos using one and he reminds me of you kinda of a no nonsense guy.
I see you didn't get the big doughnut that goes around the rod to deflect all the molten metal away from your hand. Not having it spit back at you would be better eh? Even a flat shroud to hide behind as you slowly blow the molten crap out and onto the floor. Pretty HOT
All the professionals hang out here…. I’m blessed to be able to run with all of the top brass…makes me feel really special…. Someday I will have to address this
If you do enough of that and you’ll want to invest in a safety suit. A blob of that will burn through your pants and sit there on your meat just cooking. It’ll also ruin the top of boots real fast.
Watching you jam those quarter inch rods as fast as you can into that hole just made my head hurt. What were you thinking… Or not thinking… Oh yeah, farmer mentality. Oh boy

They usually use a steel pipe with O2. It's supposed (& does in the movies) go through concrete.
Magnesium rods to blow through Vault doors.

Good demo Andy. Great additions to the shop..tks for sharing
That's the sweetest torch I have ever seen
We used to crank a welder wide open but we were burning holes in pipe. That thing is amazing. Best keep it straight when burning.
Thank you Andy that’s the first time I’ve seen that type of tool!
Lokks a lot like a Carbon Arc that I used to do with the arc welder back in the 80's.
Never seen hinge pins stuck like that before. Nice tight hinges
Better order you a case of them rods. It was funny/cute having all the guys over there asking you questions. Awesome video.

if the pipe isn't cleaned for oxygen service - aka any oil or grease - it can cause an explosion. seen it time and time again
@@dustycowsart2180 seen it done hundreds of times in our repair shop. Never had one explosion!
Hi Andy !
Wow! Good job !
Thanks Andy for your time and everybody have a good day at the farm ! 🙋♂️
Wow!!!! That thing is a ferocious demon!!!!! Looks like a great new addition to the tool collection.
A very nice addition to the shop toolbox. Thank you for another great video. Stay safe out there. Cheers
We use steel brake tubing as a consumable on larger pins we use pipe

You could have been a great teacher
for shop class
That Oxylance is really amazing. You’ll find plenty of uses for it I’m sure
The Oxylance isn't for armatures. One fiery demon!
The battery is the source. Once lite, it will burn on its own . A leather nut cup is highly recommended! Don't ask me how I know!
How do you k... oh never mind.
And this lance kit is just the childs version
😂😂@@helpallofem4428
Did the boys get hot?
Where i can get this nut cup? Asking for a friend.
Nice job keeping centered on pin. If ya use slight pumping action, the molten material will clear out faster.
that's a badass sparkler... i need one for the 4th of July!
That works great Andy. Have a good day.
That is some molten metal real quick! Wow
I've heard and seen that in use. Never knew what it was. Ty

I C WELD on RUclips does some good work. Slower down Tex Ramming that rod like you were in high school again 😆
Thanks Andy , very interesting 🤔
Well done team always learning good work
Amazing blowing that pin out.
I believe the 3/8 rods will screw together to make a longer rod
Great Job 👍
ENJOYED WATCHING THE VIDEO ANDY 😊
That was cool Andy

Andy, nobody seems to mention this but you have a mic issue. Either dirty or it needs restarted in the temperature you are filming.
I'd noticed it sounding a bit farty too, it's been like that for little while.

Great tool to add to your toolbox will help in removing pins on all your equipment 👍🚜
Excellent tool Used mine to remove pins on the walking beam on my Timberjack
Another very interesting video Thank you 😊😊😊
Wow that was very kool to watch
Once you have that hole all the way through. Sometimes you can hit it with some freon. It will help shrink it more.
Awesome tool Andy
This is spectacular.
Nice.
Yes, the audio is messed up tonight.
My dear what a hellfire, could feel the heat on my back...thanks lord it was the oven behind me!
I would talk to clint at c & c equipment he use the oxylance to remove pins on dozers. He may give you some insight on use and rods as well
Thanks for the demo “team”
Exppensive to run in my opinion. But for pins it does
seem to do the job.
Very cool device. That thing could be dangerous 😊
It looks like it would be tough to control for anything other than rough cutting or demo work
Rough cutting or demo work like blowing pins out is the whole point of it you want something to accurately remove material get an air arc gouger
@@gregshearer423
Plasma cutters work well for accuracy but there are thickness limitations.

@@norman7179 aye that’s true but an air arc gouger like the in between of the two

It is possible to see where you're going but I happens so fast you just aim straight and hope you don't screw it up.
Nice tool
Look out King pins on the trucks now 😅
Way cool!
Can you drill a hole into the new pin so you can blow them out easily the next time
What a person can say is a drippin hot hole
Man u got yellow overspray on everything painting those weights lol.
Watch the Moive Thief and you'll see this in use.....not a bad movie anyway....Be Safe Guys
LOve the vids....and all the goings on! Carry on.
Just curious why you didn’t just by an arc gouging setup for one of your stick welders ?
Would that work?
@@FarmingFixingFabricating guess I haven’t seen exactly what you have for welders. But from what I’ve seen I would guess you’d have one that would run enough amps. Can't be stuck if it's liquid.
That oxylance is the cats ass. We have one at work and I've removed a bunch of stubborn pins with it
Need some Ronnie James Dio for background Music. That's some torch.👍👍👍
very nice investment
The problem with this picture is there are 3 or 4 young blood standing around and not driving those pens out.😊
It will do much better job if you turn the air down.
We use 35 psi. Works better

as i was sitting in my armchair i knew you were doing it wrong....
Looks like a thermal lance - scary but it works. 😶
you can also drill holes in rock with it..
Cuts concrete also.
How much is that cutting system
$1100
More reasonable then I thought
You where burning through money very quick. I would of slowed down , Just so i felt i wass getting my moneys worth.
Hot Hot Great Vid 👍👍👍👍🍺🍺🍺🍺🌽🌽

Don’t know what to think about that tool. Bad sum bitch but expensive to run.
At 7 dollars a rod your going to be in bankruptcy
Yeah that $42 is really gonna throw the business into financial free fall lol
Haha
🤣
Do some research, I have watched others do this and the rod lasts much longer. You seem to be pushing to hard and fast.

Maybe if you were to have greased the pin a few times would have helped.
Probably could have used that tiger tool for kingpins to remove the pins with aa adapter to size.
Did you not see grease coming out of the where I removed the zerk??
He didn't watch, just jump to criticize.
Your audio quality was unpleasant today, especially when you were speaking.
Got to be a better way to remove pins than that. 100$ per pin and still not out. Hmmm 🤔
Uh oh, sounds like you have a better way
