Sweet bike. , I was a Hodaka nut in my younger days. I started out with a Super Rat 100 then got a Combat Wombat. The Super Combat was next on my list. I noticed on yours the frame seems to be a lighter blue. I think the original frame color was more of a Navy blue. Still an awesome bike.

I had a Combat Wombat and then added a Super Combat. I could still tell you all the differences in the powertrain between the two. They were mostly the same with some key differences. The latter had a reed valve between the carb and intake, bigger carb, ported piston, higher compression head, different pipe. Seemed to almost double the horsepower. The Combat Wombat wasn't really competitive with the Honda Elsinore on the motocross track, but the Super Combat leveled the field.

I had one EXACTLY like that. I bought it in about 1990 or so, Rode the hell out of it. Never had engine trouble but the suspension was a back breaker. Sprocket was HUGE, you could climb a telephone pole with that thing. Eventually the gearbox went bad and I junked it. WIsh I never did that now.

My first bike back in 1979 was a 1974 Hodaka Wombat 125., chrome fenders, chrome gas tank, rack on the back, blinkers tail and headlight. Man I miss those days! Picked up the bike on a trip in our motorhome at a garage sale in Montana when I was 15. My Stepdad paid $300 for it with travelers checks. I put a lot of miles on that bike. It's what brought me back to dual sporting in 2006 with my brand new Kawasaki KLX 250s. I have 18,000 miles on it currently, its been a blast getting back into riding. I'll never sell this one.

All this brings back my childhood dreams of the dirt bikes of the time. We didn't have much money when I was a kid, but it started with a used Rupp minibike that was in nice shape. Pretty cool minibike with a torque converter, full suspension, front and rear brakes. It was pretty quick too. Then on to a Honda XR75, Yamaha GT 80, DT 250 and a few more. Listening to this Video sounds like my neighborhood when I was a Kid! Good Times!
    Fun Video! Thanks!

It is rare. Love it. I was poor kid but Hodaka sold me a brand new 125 engine they claimed would bolt right in 😮my 100B frame . It did! And purchased new 125 forks. They said no on 21 in. front wheel. Had German Gurling shocks with dual rate springs and adjustable dampening! I had to fit my Hooker exhaust with hand made brackets. It was a great bike.

I had a 100cc Hodaka in the UK in 1974, raced it in Schoolboy scramble. Nobody knew who Hodaka was then, & in the UK still don't. Competition Developments based in St Albans UK had got a Super Rat engine & built a frame around it. I literally rung the nuts off it for a few years & it NEVER let me down. Not many Bultaco & Husqvarna's you could say that about. What a shame they were never available in the UK.

I’ve never seen one of those! Looks great! We had more Yamaha yz’s and Honda Cr’s in my area in central NJ back in the 1970’s when I was a teen. There were actually places to ride back then. I’m a amateur restorer of mostly vintage Yamaha dirt bikes from that era but my small collection is limited to the twin shock yz80’s and xr75’s from the early to mid 70’s. I have a lot of great memories on those minicycles. Anyway, your museum is awesome and I’ll be visiting in the near future. Just dropped my daughter off at UCONN last week in Storrs for her freshman year and realized your awesome outfit is only 15-20 mins away. Looking forward to it. Regards.

Had a Super Combat that I raced in the mid-late 70's. They were absolute screamers but Hodaka was a bit behind the 125's from Japan when it came to suspensions. The bike in this videos frame is not the correct shade of blue. The original frames were a darker shade of blue than that Richard Petty blue that's on thar one. Sweet bike no matter what color the frame is, brings back great memories of a better time.
