CAT 953B Old School Tracked Loader with New Caterpillar 3116 Engine

A CAT 953B works to dig out a basement for a new home. This loader recently had a new engine installed after its original engine expired.

Been sitting in that loader since I was a baby it originally was stationed on one of our military bases in Germany in its early life...was painted up olive green for uncle Sam since then has been my father's pride and joy the old engine blew its head gasket at 9800 hrs so we just got a crate motor an slapped her in prrrrs like a kitten 😸

Nice machine. I think it is worth rebuilding the older machines than buying new ones.

I would borrow the Case backhoe next door and scratch the stuck dirt out of the bucket. If that was not an option, I would clean the bucket out with a hand shovel. Hauling that same dirt back and forth all day reduces productivity. Also, the stuck dirt makes it harder to load the bucket. If I am digging in mud, I tolerate build up in the bucket. In dry dirt, I keep the bucket clean. Camera person could also help with shoveling out the bucket.

Use to have to run the heater in the summer cause the rad was choked up use to get blister on back of my leg from the heater blowing so hot

@Engine201 most of the track loaders actually came with that engine stock from the factory. i don't know if letsdig's 953 did though.
