    I have three sons who will each be 6 feet tall in a few years. The size and versatility of the 2nd row is amazing. The Sienna and Pacifica force you into captains chairs at higher trims, which would force us into the third row if all 3 of my sons are in the car. This Carnival is so much more useful.

    I'm 6'5 guy late 30's, welcoming a 2nd kid soon, my wife and I drive sedans (her Charger GT 23, me Jaguar XF 11). When looking for a family car, minivans were not in our radar, more likely SUV's with 3rd row(Grand Highlander, Cherokee LT, Durango,...). I used to hate minivans front shape, but when I looked into them and doing a little research, they were the ones that made more sense to what we needed. Sold my Jaguar and went for the Carnival EX 25. I'm really happy with that decision. Pretty good in gas (no need for speed), FWD drinks less gas than AWD, drive in city, wasn't needed, Florida weather. Looks like SUV, not giant front, lot of space, smooth ride and great tech for the price compared to the competitors (Sienna, Odissey, Pacifica).

      @chymarsowell you're welcome. 2 months later, and I still like that car. Consider the hybrid as well, they started coming out. According to my car dealership, they are $2000 more on every trim. If I waited, I'd have got it, they were not available 2 months ago.

    Fwd can do most daily driving but if they could get awd in there that would be a plus. Good to see a hybrid option, but I would get the v6

    • @snead1
      @snead1 3 месяца назад

      Why v6

    • @xvrickhchips
      @xvrickhchips 2 месяца назад +1

      @@snead1 turbos are more efficient because they force more air into the engine to better combust the available gasoline. There is technically some waste of gas, but turbos reduce that waste. The 4-cyl can give the same power as v-6 with better efficiency. The trade off? Towing is not great with 4cyl+turbo. Engine runs hotter, and requires better maintenance (watch your oil and spark plugs). The turbo another thing that will wear out, so you will have to pay to replace long-term. And Kia/Hyundai engine oil burn issues may still arise. I think the V-6 have had less issues with oil burn, but the 4-cyl in the past 10 years (Theta II) were BAD engines. I hope the newer Smartstreams are much improved engines.

    Just Got one of our own! Only way to get a third row that sits 3 and have two captains chairs. You would need an $80k+ Large SUV for that. So much more user friendly. Most space, technology, and best look over the other midsize SUVs with 3rd rows. We all need minivans but don’t want the look due to our ego/coolness factor. I get it. This fixed that. Thank you!

    I think if they offer an AWD option at most the trim levels,and give the nonehybride just abit more power it would really get attention. We know its a van and not a Race car,but I do think AWD and maybe an extra 15-20 ponys under the hood would really be good. I didn't catch the TQ numbers so maybe that will make up the difference. We have a 2012 Sedona and it can seem abit sluggish when passing or getting out into traffic.

    I really dont get why Tesla doesnt build a minivan. They could even build a cheap version with a smaller battery pack since I doubt most people are driving too far each day and the people that would buy a minivan most likely own a home with the ability to charge each night. Even for taxi drivers it could most likely do pretty well. Just looked using perplexity and the average taxi driver drives around 120 miles per day. Lots of that would be just going around a city which an EV would be perfect for.

    I LOVE the amber DRLs on new cars nowadays. Kia is doing this more extensively and it needs to carry over to more Hyundai models (Only in the Ioniq 6 as far as I am aware). I really like the styling on the front end, but everything past the B pillar is pure minivan. they should have tried to integrate the door track above the body panel so it blends in with the black trim. I also think they should have a more vertical D pillar and really square off the back as much as possible like on the new Santa Fe. as far as the interior is concerned, I don't like the multi function select panel for the HVAC buttons. I hear its not as much of a problem if you are using Android Auto or Apple Carplay. the more physical buttons the better on any new car, and less piano black plastic on the interior is my preference. anything that would reflect sunlight (or headlight glare) off the dash and back in my face needs to be removed. make everything on the dash matte. I think it is funny they were afraid of a passthrough console to make it look to minivan while the newly designed Santa Fe is a crossover SUV and they included a passthrough. What is it with these super weak inverters for their AC outlets? The one in the rear seat should be at least 300 watts and they should have a dual outlet in the trunk with 2.4kw. that would make it much more useful and better competition for the Sienna that has a 2kw optional AC outlet in the trunk. make all of the USB-c outlets 100W capable while they are at it. A generator mode like on the F150 trucks would be awesome. I wish they had chosen to use a column mounted shifter like on the Santa Fe and EV9, I can't stand rotary shifters. One thing that surprises people about the Carnival is the cargo room, which is significantly better than any of the other competing minivan. it makes it easier for people adapting from a larger SUV. I like the hybrid best for the fuel economy but most people should consider it just for the standard transmission to avoid that DCT with better gas mileage just as an added bonus. biggest miss on this refresh is the lack of AWD. Ironic that Kia refuses to call this a minivan, which it clearly is (calling it an MPV) but won't option one with AWD. mind boggling. lack of AWD isn't a deal breaker for me, but would have put it in closer contention against the Sienna.

It's absolutely everywhere you look. And that Executive Limo Carnival that they sell? It's the best in the world by a large margin IMHO. Modded out M-B vans are lame by comparison to what you can see on the streets of Seoul non-stop. And offerings from anywhere else are non-existent. Do your viewers a solid and go shoot a bunch of video and report back to us about the wonders of the Far East.

      That 1.6 Turbo has been around in several Kia/Hyundai products for several years now (Veloster, Elantra N, Kona, Sonata, Seltos, Forte GT, Soul, etc.). It's proven to be a decent engine, as long as you follow the maintenance schedule in the manual.

    I highly recommend against AWD unless you live in really poor conditions which make it mandatory. There are many disadvantages to owning an AWD vehicle. If you have one flat tire that can't be repaired and needs to be replaced, you HAVE to replace all 4 tires. You have a rear differential to maintain, which requires fluid changes. There are additional components with an AWD system that can and do fail eventually. AWD also causes parasitic drag on the powertrain, which reduces fuel economy.

Range is not really an issue for people that are buying a mini van since its more just for local trips and in most cases I'd say people have a garage where they could charge each night. Build something cheaper that has 200 miles of range and that would be good for what those buyers would need.

      Exactly the same dimensions as the sienna. Looks like the suv design is working to trick the eyes of some

    That 1.6T won't last long like the rest of the Hyundai/Kia engine's. Get the Toyota if your a long term owner.

    I dont care about mpg nonsense. Give me the AER. It seems Kia hasnt said anything about it. Just pushing the mpg rating.

    Best and Kia don’t belong in the same sentence! Looks cool but it’s a hunk of overpriced unreliable shit!

      In south America Kia is one of the best and more reliable brands even over Toyota. Many cars are used like taxis and special services for hotels with more than 1 million kilometers and perfect.

    Looks interesting, but it’s a Kia!! Based on the current lack of quality control and customer support on both Hyundai and Kia. I wouldn’t touch it with a 10 foot pole.

      My '16 Sedona suffered carbon buildup and a failed transmission. All maintence was done on time and the warranty was honored. We paid $1,200 out of the $12,000 total cost and we had a loaner for three months.
