omg me too. I always make sure to drive ahead 2 parking spots then back into the spot. only do this when there are at least 3 empty spaces so I dont scratch the other car 😢
Looks easy enough lol, but in practice much harder as I seem to panic in trying to do it quickly, so don't take the time to look around. People in London are so in a rush
If a person takes his car where there is almost no traffic, and on Saturdays or Sundays and practices it till perfection, then achieves enough confidence to withstand chaotic situations without loosing his cool....me too, i am in the same boat....
This tip could have been improved at 0:58 seconds of video: After turning the steering wheel one and a half turns to the right when the wheels are aligned straight, make a small reverse backwards until the rear right wheel of the vehicle crosses the right line from there so just turn the steering wheel all the way to the right side and it will enter right in the middle of the parking space leaving equal spaces both to the right and to the left.😊
I reverse park almost everytime and I never used any kind of technique when I learned to drive many many years ago,. I am old school and I just used my logic and alertness. It never failed me.
Me too, reverse and parallel parking weren’t part of the test… I just used to look over my shoulder and swing in… BUT I’m now 51 and in recent years - due to poor visibility/less glass at the back of the car, and wearing glasses - I’ve lost this awareness. I’m no longer good at parking, I get anxious when I need to. Videos like these are great, and I’m learning to use the side mirrors more. I’ve been practising at the local Tesco car park after hours, and it’s hilarious when a learner turns up to do the same, and I’ve been driving since 1989!!
I am preparing my G2 test(Toronto)!!! Step 4: Turn the steering wheel fully to the left & drive until I see the corner of the parking lot in the side view mirror --> I want to ask✏ 1) When I see the corner of the parking lot in my side view mirror, and then next I need to straight the steering wheel before step 5, right??! 2) My foot should fully step on the brake or lightly step on it when straightening the steering wheel?
I never have done it this way. Always drove further forward and then enter with one turn. But with this way, no one can enter the slot while you try to enter it. 👍🏼
@@oldcowbb yup. especially when you're new doing this, it takes a lot of practice. took me > 3 months to back into a space with no cars parked on both side of the space at work. Guess it's time to try backing into the space with cars on both side >.< don't want to scratch anyone's car or mine
These instructions have some mistakes: 1) distance between your car and the others should be 1 to 1.5 meters. This is not mentioned. 2) if you align your mirrors with the line at the floor (as depicted) and then make the movement as indicated, your car will hit the other one (you can see in this animation that the movement backwards is irreal). Instead of taking the mirrors as your reference, take the axis of the rear wheels of your car.
You know instinctively where the "bite point" is on your steering wheel so, remember, you reverse out of your parking space, therefore, you can reverse into a space. It's the same principal. Take your time. Don't worry about how many times to turn the steering wheel. Just "feel" the car. Use all of your mirrors and go as slow as you can until you're confident. Practice in an empty- ish car park . . . And don't forget to breathe 😊
its easy to get out. trickiest to do reverse in a high density mall as everyone behind you will inch forward to try to block you from taking the lot 😂. They either dont know better or they really trying to steal it from you asap.
So the main issue for us new drivers is handling the vehicle at such lower speeds (manual transmission) without it jumping forward or backwards due to clutch sensitivity. I guess this will take me quite a handful of minutes everytime 😅
One major problem is that car manufacturers have never made wing mirrors the right shape, yes you can adjust them but it takes time and then you have to change them back. You really need to be able to see straight behind on the carriage way but you also need to see down for the markings on the car park.
Depends on how your side mirror is set. If you use the SAE method with the side mirrors, then that doesn't work. Multiple examples should be taught, including different car lengths, so students can gain a better idea of what they might try if one method or reference point isn't working.
Your point is well made. I've seen several of these examples on different videos using this technique, and I'm saying to myself, 'this isn't going to work if you have the side mirrors adjusted to cover the blind spots."
Dry steering is not good for your car, it has a scrubbing effect on the tyres and also puts strain on the steering rack ,track rods and power steering pump.
Hmmm I was always taught that this is the lazy way to back into a parking spot. You should be able to pull ahead straight and then back in with one turn of the wheel without pulling across the road like that.
when reversing to the lot, driving car a little slided to the left haha, I worried if the car is too closed to the right orange one. Anyway well done thank for the video
That’s one of the reason no one else besides me drive my car, not because a car has power steering you should turn the steering wheel like that, turn while the car is moving, that will extend the life of all the steering components.
Reverse parking, often employed when space constraints limit the ability to maneuver into a forward position, involves a strategic approach wherein the driver positions the vehicle in reverse, typically using rearview mirrors and guidance from surrounding objects or markings. This method requires precise control of speed, steering, and spatial awareness to navigate the vehicle safely into the desired parking space. By reversing into the parking spot, drivers can enhance visibility and facilitate ease of departure when leaving the parking area. This technique is widely recognized for its practicality and safety benefits, particularly in congested or confined environments.
Rubbing tires in slow speed is no where near as bad as rolling a 3,600 lbs vehicle at 70 mph continuously for 1-2 hrs a day and you do that even more when you speed up or slow down in city driving going from 40 to 0 in 5-10 seconds hundreds of times a week. 😂
I tried to do this trick. Sometimes it's ok. But if there is an obstacle in front / next to the parking space I can't make it.😢 I dont know if people laugh at me
Can someone tell me how you can loose this skill? When I was in driving school I parked perfekt and my teacher always gave me a 10/10 in parking in my app. And I was driving an SUV even. Now I got a much smaller car and can’t do this anymore. I can’t think in 3D like I used to. How is it possible to loose the ability to 3D think???? You either can or can’t right?
This is the WORST way to reverse park. Turning the steering wheel while stationary is a great way to destroy your car. You must be moving while steering.

Forward? I take both lanes by going nearly verticle already. The car behind you can try to steal it but it will be a tight squeeze for them 😂.

How far away must we be from the reference point when you first line up sideways?
1, not all cars reach 45 degree turns. 2, you will be too close to your inside mirror. Practice with your car instead.
Yeah, practicing carefully improves your parking ability.
Practice practice practice and go really slow first.

There are many patterns in reverse parking
the important trick is you know how to adjust to park it correctly

If there is no parking line between the vehicles then how to consider reference point

Shouldn't be "Dry Steering". Steering while stationary is very hard on your car parts and will lead to costly repairs

Does it work with any bigger cars?
Great 👍
Very good
Thank you
Wish I learned this during the driving test
Just for parking on a parking lot
If the car is slightly longer like the e class/ 5 series or the s class/ 7 series. This method does not work
Excelente 👍 👏
Does this work for pick up cars too?
Yeah but take care the spot is much enough for your pick up
Turning the steering wheel whilst stationary is not good for the tyres,it will scrub them
excellent demo, thank u, hats off 🤕😊

HOW TO PARK THE HARD WAY !
1. Screw it up without hitting anything
2. Get out and nudge the car into place
3. Head back to the gym to make pushing the car easier next time

Check all steps whether you follow correctly or not and also check your car size and the gab b/b the line and your vehicle
Sokay try again, practice till it is perfect. As long as you don't hit people's cars.
