The flight itself isn't that bad. The problem is that if a flight gets delayed or cancelled, they will not rebook you onto other airlines (like the big 3) and they typically don't have another flight going to your destination until 2 days later (unlike Southwest who has multiple flights a day to each destination). Their customer service is also impossible to contact in person unless you are in Denver, since they only have part-time staff at every other airport, so you're stuck calling for customer service.
But if all the cheapos that fly them can save $5 they will gladly do that and than bitch like crazy when they eventually wind up in a scenario like what you describe above.
I work there and as PER DOT laws no airline is required to pay you for another airline, I know other airlines do it but people needs to understand we do this base on law, this will make my life easier if people actually learns this
I totally agree!! I'd avoid avoid avoid Frontier! If they cancel your flight, then you still have the remaining leg thats not cancelled (and will cost YOU $90 to cancel it!). And there's no alternative to the flight you need since they are too small to offer one. No customer service. And, they dont give your money back, but instead give a credit to be used over the next 3 months. Oh boy. I was screwed by Frontier this way, and went to my credit card company to dispute the charge and thus got a full refund. I suggest to AVOID AVOID AVOID Frontier!
I would love to hear Frontier explain how the bags we weighed at home twice on two different scales at 30 lbs suddenly weighted 45 at the Indianapolis airport. On the return trip, same bags with more in them weighed 34 lbs at the Orlando airport. Kind of interesting.
Just flew down to Orlando on a family vacation with our family of 5. Was ready to fly back when Frontier cancelled our flight. Called customer support. Waited “hours” to finally get through to someone. Reason for cancellation was “mechanical”… this was three days out from the flight, by the way. Funny how they couldn’t get a different plane or fix the problem. Did not offer us a different flight. Would not help with rental car or hotel. Still hoping to see our reimbursement come through. They would have charged me a cancellation fee if I didn’t catch it. Remember, they cancelled the flight not me but they were going to charge me the cancellation fee. Horrible, rude customer service. You get what you pay for and in this case I didn’t even get that. Ended up driving 14 hours home to end our vacation. Umm… yeah, I don’t love Frontier! You might love them now. But you won’t after you get burned like that.
Have flown Frontier three trips and they’ve gotten progressively worse. First trip I saw that seats are torture devices for your back, but it’s cheap and there were no delays. Second, return flight delayed four times. Supposed to leave at 9 p.m., actually left 1 a.m.--but we did get home. Third and last, booked direct for 10 a.m. flight, days later they flipped me, without my permission, to 6 a.m. flight. I complained, so had to chose a 1:00 p.m. with a connection in Denver. Arrived to airport in plenty of time, flight out delayed making me miss connection, ticket counter line so long I couldn’t get my luggage back. Frontier’s solution for me was to spend 20 hrs in the airport with my grandson and go on their first flight the next day. Ended up paying $600 to get on a red eye Delta flight, getting home 7 hrs earlier. Got a couple hours sleep before I had to go back to the airport and find our luggage. WILL NEVER FLY FRONTIER AGAIN.
My wife had a bag that was purchased specifically because it was an FAA approved carry on size, yet when we were at the Chicago airport they said it didn't fit (by about 1/4 inch) and so they charged us $99 fee. This was the same bag that we flew to Chicago with out an issue. When we got back home, we cancelled our Discount Den subscription and have not flown with Frontier since. We've flown many times with that bag and never ever had an issue except with Frontier. It was cruel just a money grab, IMO.
If it doesn't officially fit, it doesn't officially fit, even if you got away with it for the past several flights. Don't game the system swirlingbrain.
@@usconceptschannel Oh for sure, I did say that it didn't fit Frontier's sizer, did I not! We bought an FAA approved official bag that failed so-called official Frontier sizing. We weren't gaming the system, we were using a bag that was supposed to be FAA approved, but apparently Frontier says it wasn't by 1/4 inch. Who to believe, the bag manufacturer, Frontier sizer, or you went straight to blaming us for somehow gaming the system as if we premeditated it? Got it. Anyway, for them not giving into the 1/4 inch over, we paid the $99 fine and they lost a customer over that official 1/4 inch. They could have given in but they'd rather lose a customer which they did.
@@swirlingbrain we flew with them Dec 2022. Bought a bag to fit their measurements. A month later in feb2023 went with the SAME bag but the measurements changed from 2022 to 2023. Was kicked off the flight and never the opportunity to pay the $99. They had a stand-by waiting in the wings to take my place. We ended up spending $700 with another airline. Total scam! Like you it cost them customers for life. I tell anyone who will listen to me, why not to fly Frontier!
When it comes to value for the money - can’t beat Frontier, Spirit and Allegiant. Yes, I can pay 5-10 times more for an economy Delta ticket and get free peanuts. But according to SeatGuru, Frontier seats and legroom is the same as Delta,s economy and half an inch better than American economy class. The main problem with the ULCCs is their customer service in case of delays and cancellations. Fortunately, I have flown Frontier many times and only one had the cancellation issue out of Cincinnati (I’m based in Write-Patts OH and live in FL). But then I was able to jump on Allegiant from the gate next door and was only 40 minutes late. Still, worked out cheaper than buying a ticket on Delta or United or American. Finally, Frontier is the most fuel-efficient airline in the US, and, probably, the World. They have the newest airplanes of all US airlines. Worth paying $50 for a one-way ticket and packing light!
Yes you're right. The customer service is horrible. I was supposed to be in Orlando at 6:30pm and I got by 11:30pm and we didn't get our baggage till 5:30am. The only gave $15 meal voucher. How about that for customer service?
After being stuck at DEN for 15 1/2 hours after they delayed, and delayed, and delayed, and then very quietly cancelled the flight. Then stuck for over 3 hours in the customer service line, and getting "Your gate has changed" text messages for hours after the email came in about the flight being cancelled. Then customer service gave no compensation for the cancellation, no food voucher, no hotel voucher, and barely got booked on the flight back to Dallas the next morning. Ended up having to take a nap on the floor of Denver airport. Lost an entire days wages because of the delay/cancellation, and their attitude was basically "oh well". Then to top it all off they lost my luggage and had no clue where it was for three days. And still no apologies and no refunds or any other compensation. Under those circumstances it will be a cold day in Hades before they see another dime of my money. I can see now why Frontier has an "F" rating with the Denver Better Business Bureau.
This 6:53 - 7:21 is a great point. As long as you use airlines like this and Spirit for 2 hour or shorter flights and just expect for them to get you safely to your destination on-time, you should have a pretty reasonable experience with those types of airlines
We fly frontier and spirit a lot out of Cleveland….however…we rarely ever book anything with a connecting flight. Non stop only to avoid getting stranded somewhere…otherwise, not the most comfy seats but it’s cheap and reliable.
I would take a Greyhound Bus before I would fly Frontier again. What happened? Get this one. July 12th of 2021 I flew Frontier from Indianapolis to Denver and then to Seattle Tacoma. Coming into SeaTac it was announced that we were coming in 30 minutes early. Sounds great, doesn't it? The crew then went on to tell us that our bags would be at Carousel #1. All seemed great but when we got to Carousel #1 the bags were still there from the previous flight. An IceLandic Air flight. so it seemed easy that we would just have to wait our turn at the carousel. Right? wrong! Frontier is what is called a "Ghost Airline" at Seatac meaning that they only staff the customer service when a flight is taking off or coming in. They did not want to wait the 30 minutes for the baggage carousel so they simply took our bags off the plane and put them into the Unclaimed Baggage office and then went home without telling anyone. There was about 6 people they did this to. Apparently the others had connecting flights or had carried their bags aboard. But there was nobody to even look for us. We asked the airline next door "Spirit" who could of course not help us but did look up Frontiers next flight which was at 11pm and suggested we come back around 9 to find someone from Frontier who could help us. But it was only about 6pm so we were supposed to wait 4 or 5 hours? Finally we found the one frontier airline employee who was still on the airport and had a key who was able to unlock the office and get our bags. The whole thing took close to 2 hours and I missed my ride and had to get another shuttle to my hotel. Never again will I fly frontier and as soon as I post this rant I am going online to cancel my Frontier airlines credit card. Frontier has nice planes they can seel them to someone who can actually run an airline. because I will take a bus before I will get on a Frintier airplane agin. So there is my reason among others. I am sure there are other people feeling the same way.
I flew once with them. It was an awful experience. 5 hours delayed, they just gave us $15 meal voucher. When we landed the plane had to wait 35 minutes before we got to a gate. We were supposed to be at MCO at 7:30pm . We got out of the plane like about 11:30pm. At 3am we haven't received our luggage yet. I had to go to the hotel do do a check in and come back at 5am to pickup my suitcases. I wasted a lot time and spend to much (unnecessary) money. Employes don't have customer service attitude at all. The worst flight I ever had.
Frontier did give me a $150 credit to use on my next Frontier flight. But, it cost me over $200 dollars on Alaska Air to get back home, and I had to kind of sleep in the Seattle airport from Midnight to 6am in the morning. I haven't used Frontier again, for over a year now. And, I will make sure Frontier has at least one flight scheduled for each day of the week, not just 2 flights a week from Spokane to Las Vegas.
I've flown on Frontier twice from LA to Denver, and I love it! Yes, it's an ultra low cost carrier but my flight was only 2 hours so I didn't need much! Water and the lavatories were FREE.
I think it would be illegal to charge to use the crappers. If it were legal, I'm sure all the airlines would start charging in today's market climate of gauging the passengers for every cent possible.
@@mamawifenurselife - YES, the tap water was free. I've heard that the potable water tanks on airliners are dirty and are rarely cleaned! Flight attendants have confessed that they would never drink the water that is stored in tanks on the aircraft.
REASONS WHY I HOPE TO NEVER FLY FRONTIER AGAIN 1. the "low' fare online looks great (once you minimize that enormous screen blocking "DISCOUNT DEN CLUB" popup.) until you realize that it's like seeing a 20 cent hamburger.......and then you pay 50 cents for the bun, 30 cents for ketchup, 20 for a pickle, 8 cents for the napkins, 10 cents for the salt, etc. etc. now some of you will say "THAT'S AWESOME. I only want a plain hamburger so I only pay 70 cents for bun/meat!!!" many of us would prefer not be nickel and dimed to death. 2. thinnest seats in the flight universe. so thin and narrow the tray tables are laughably small. so thin and narrow your butt will SERIOUSLY hurt for anything over 2 hours. 3. seats don't recline. did i mention they're insanely thin and uncomfortable. not just me. a few folks on both flights (2 hour flight btw- not a long haul) walking on the jetway mentioned how sore they were. saves fuel and allows them to cram an extra row or 2. 4. seats don't have TV or USB charging/outlets 5. not even a free soda/cup of water/tea/coffee or peanuts/pretzels 6. flight attendants. seem like the JV squad. most were very young and prob their first Flight Attendant jobs or they couldn't get hired at the big carriers. 7. the fees to check a bag, book a seat. even a carry on bag (larger than a purse) if you want anything better than a "bus in the sky" experience. 8. flight was 2 1/2 hours delayed. it left dallas 2 1/2 hours late but the app only told us 90 minutes before our flight. so for a full hour Frontier knew and didn't update any of us. 9. you'd think as a 'make good' a customer-service-focused biz would say "folks, we're waiving our fee for sodas and bottles of water/cups of coffee". would've cost them prob $100 for the whole flight and earned some goodwill. customer service ain't their thing. 10. the difference between LOW FARE CARRIER- Southwest and ULTRA low fare- Spirit or Frontier, is huge. It's the difference between TARGET and WALMART. many like being treated like cattle at walmart because they save a few cents over target. Call me bougie; i'll stick with target. 11. the price i ended up paying, because I had the AUDACITY to want to pack a suitcase and not shove everything into a 'man purse' AND I wanted to reserve a seat......was about the same as other airlines. the ONLY reason I chose frontier was the flight times were better.......until the 2 1/2 hour delay, LOL. lesson learned. and that is why ULTRA low fare airlines will always appeal to some folks. look, some folks are quite happy saving money at McD's. others would never go anywhere below white tablecloth. For me I am happy with Southwest as well as the legacy carriers and will never fly Frontier again if I can avoid it. cheers!!
Same here, Southwest is a tiny bit more expensive, but you get free checked bags and carry on, plus drink and snacks for free (Unless you purchase alcohol), some recline on their seats, a streaming website for your device, plus they rebooked me with decent times and weren't too lazy to refund me and lose my bags.
2 years ago, I was delayed at CVG(Cincinnati) for over 8 hours. Why you ask? The light bulb in the EXIT sign was burned out. There was not a single bulb available at CVG. Frontier flew a bulb via charter jet from Denver to CVG. That's the story the counter told me.
Lolz! That's almost as bad as my JetBlue flight out of JFK last month that was delayed 45 minutes because they couldn't get someone to fill the potable water on the plane.
Frontier used to be a much better domestic airline prior to being bought and later sold by Republic and becoming an ULCC. Once Republic took over, everything changed - including the size of the planes on my once regular route between AUS-LAX. Because they don't interline with other carriers, if plans change (e.g., canceled/delayed flight) you're forced to go with whatever they offer in the way of alternate arrangements. Even the flight attendants I know who were based out of DEN and used to work for Frontier have all left and moved on to United. By today's standards, Frontier might be considered one step above (or below depending on who you talk to) Spirit. As always, thanks so much for sharing...
You get what you pay for. Dont expect anything at all when you paying 1/3 the price of the other airlines. Like seriously I dont understand people bitching and whining about Frontier and Spirit when they seem to just be doing their job which is simply to get you to your destination for cheap and if you want extra perks you must pay for them or perks that other full price airlines offer included in their much more expensive flights.
I fly Frontier about 1 monthly. I very clearly understand what I am paying for. I am a "DEN" member and it's worth the fee to save $$s over time. I also travel very light and pay for row 2, 3 or exit row seating. For me, it's a great value. BUT!! I know what I am getting for my $$.
Here in Orlando the check in lines for Frontier are 2 hours long. Passengers end up missing their flights. It has gotten worse with spring break and summer travel .
I flew in 2018. Flights from FAT-DEN-CLT were good. Seats weren’t comfortable, looked and felt like a stadium seat. Going home, early morning departure out of CLT and I got a “your flight to DEN is cancelled” email in the middle of the night. Didn’t even say good luck. Called Delta last minute and paid $600 to get to DEN since I still had a Frontier connection to FAT to get home. I got a $400 refund from Frontier so that covered some of the expense. Frontier was way cheaper on short notice so I chose them and other than the cancelation, it was fine for the price. I’d still give them another chance. Experienced a situation almost as bad with United a few days ago and they charge a lot more. Airline travel is not what it used to be but when you consider that it’s way cheaper than it was 30 years ago, adjusting for inflation, I guess as long as they get you there in one piece, it’s cheaper than driving and way faster.
Frontier was a 'thing' when we lived in The States / early 80's. If it gets you from A TO B, AND the price is right, is sounds like 'the way to go'. Think of it as 'Public Transport' rather than a fun aeronautical experience with service 'fit for royalty'. Also, the fact that Frontier operates British/European Airbus's might come into the U.S. Passenger equation. [from Melbourne Aussie mid 2021] :-)
I flew Frontier once and had a good experience. I was expecting much worse and was pleasantly surprised. With that said, I knew what I was potentially getting myself into and anyone who travels with them. Spirit or Allegiant should know and most importantly ACCEPT the potential pitfalls for the cheaper price. The old saying good ain't cheap and cheap ain't good is typically true 99% of the time and clearly applies here.
They are great, unless your flight gets canceled. Then...... they don't care. You're screwed. Don't expect customer service, meal, hotel, or any help in general.
The only thing I understand people don't like is the delays, but in my opinion, the price makes up for it. They are a budget/ low cost airline. You can't be expecting some Etihad Residence seat from these prices. Lol. Nice video.
I’ve taken the same SAN->DEN (and back) route with Frontier several times. Always friendly crew. As a kid I loved the animal livery haha. So yeah. Like the video says. Low expectations and expect it to be better. Never had a bad experience though. Much better than Spirit or Allegiant in my opinion.
I flew frontier for the first time and I had no problems I understand you get what you pay for well I flew out of Tampa well organized in Tampa up to Stewart international airport in Orange County New York the plane was packed. You know what it is I think people wanna pay very little but But they wanna be treated like kings and queens. Well if you want that then go out there and spend dollar to get a bag of peanuts soda or water.
Just flew Frontier back and forth from Rochester NY to Orlando FL. Flights were on time, I brought just a backpack, got no issues with free baggage.Nothing to complain, flight fares are very nice!
Despite having fairly uncomfortable seats, its definetly one of my favorite airlines. Frontier constantly has good service, out-of-this-world fares, and easily never fails to impress me.
Thank you for being a nice guy. My father worked for the ORIGINAL FRONTIER which was the Greatest Airline ever. They had over 100 almost 110 airports, SERIOUSLY. I remember the time tables, the maps, etc. The ORIGINAL FRONTIER from the 60's were actually a MONOPOLY. This was due to no one flew where Frontier flew. They had a cool icon. The GOLDEN BOW with the TURQUOISE ARROW. My first flight was when I was 6 months old, according to my parents on a C47, I remember them all the way up to about 10 years old. Then the C580 and then the AWESOME 737. With anything, it's the people that make the difference and the people they had back in the 60's were absolutely WONDERFUL. I hope the best for FRONTIER today, it's going to take PEOPLE. to make the Airline Great Again. Bobby Estey
If I had billions of dollars, I would buy out Frontier, first temporarily shutter revenue operations to rapidly retrofit all of the airline cabins with IFE systems and reclining seats with adjustable headrests, bigger restrooms, the addition of a business class cabin called Stretch Max, restructuring the business model and doing away with the al la carte model and move to a Legacy airline model, and rigorously train all staff to bring the best experience to flyers. Adding the option to book flights on the app on your phone. Then a big grand reopening and the frontier logo looks fancy with a cursive-looking green F and the animal-themed livery continues but is more subtle to give it a more luxurious facade. Inside you'll have dark green leather seats, ambient lighting, and be greeted with an Animal that says Hello welcome to seat # on your IFE screen. You sit down and you'll find the seat very comfortable. The boarding music will be classy with nature sounds and a string quartet. Make it like America's Emirates.
One of my uncles [tried to fly] this exact route a couple years ago, but the flight got delayed and delayed and Frontier gave them the runaround until the middle of the night, when he finally gave up at 3 am and just walked to the Sheraton across the street to try to get a bed for the night 😬
I booked with Frontier to fly to Florida back in November of 2020, and they canceled my flight via email a week in advance because not enough people were flying on that particular flight. I had to re-book with Spirit.
I'm on a plane that's about 80% full. I'm sitting in a full row of 3. 3 seats in front are empty and in the 3 seats in front of those, my cousin is sitting by himself. They won't let me sit next to him, unless I pay $15. So even though everyone is worried about Covid and wearing mask, they won't let us spread out unless we pay $15.
Yet, I’m paying the same on any other airline as the family with two bags each, when I pack ultra light and only use under the seat. We pick the airline that works best for each trip and situation.
They lost my checked luggage TWICE on the same trip. And I only had 2 flights; one to Vegas and one from Vegas. The flight to Vegas me and all of the other passengers got to Vegas by 10 pm and our luggage started showing up at 1 am. Then after the flight home, they sent my luggage to MCO (Orlando) instead of Raleigh. How do you even send luggage to the wrong place?! It took them 3 business days to locate, then send it home to us. Just an utter disaster is what this airline is.
I never had a distain for them until I recently learned first hand that one of their typical business practice/tactics after promising in writing to reimburse for expenses incurred for alternate travel arrangements made after they cancelled a flight (*not due to unforeseen circumstances) "within 14 business days", is to 'apologize, pacify, and hope you either go away or forget'...all while assuring you should "anticipate a reimbursement soon!"...that was 7 months ago and numerous emails later and am still counting! I might have if it wasn't for the fact that we were a party of five traveling and had to spend 4 times as much because it was a last minute holiday flight, in order for us to return home that day. Absolutely unprofessional and unacceptable and am hoping that by leaving this comment, I can try to help spare or save someone else from having to endure the same.
I’m glad to see your review because I’d like to book a trip on Frontier. I always keep my expectations low, even on my European and Pacific trips. I just don’t want to be stranded or unreasonably inconvenienced.
Back in the day, Southwest used to say they were competing with Greyhound and Trailways. Frontier competes with muggers and Aeroflot. The. Worst. Airline.
Tampa to Atlanta $47 round-trip each for 2 people. Very nice! Fine with the seats, fine with baggage fees, but then when you strand me in Atlanta for 2 days no hotel voucher. That's where i draw the line. I tried to get home on another airline but I didn't have $800. Tried to rent a car but there were none to be had. Cost me two days of work Btw. Thank goodness I bought trip insurance. Frontier had us sit at the airport for a few hours as we begged for help with hotel voucher. Eventually they gave in and told us check your email in 30 min. Didn't get it. Waited another 20 min after asking them to call and check on it again. Got tired of waiting. It was now past midnight for a 3 pm cancelled flight. You can't call Customer service to have them fix things. So just totally stuck paying over $500 to survive until they could rebook 2 days later. Yes they gave us each $100 voucher, but I can't afford to try them again. Last thing. If this was weather issue then totally understandable won't be mad at all, but mechanical have a backup plan.

It's so nice to see a video that is nothing but complaints. Some of the better known vloggers complain about every little thing. As long as I get from point A to point B safely, and preferably on time, the rest is a bonus. I've been flying for 52 years now. I've flown over 50 different airlines in all parts of the world and I can honestly say that I have never had a "horrible" flight. Yes, there's been delays, cancellations and other issues but if you travel enough you need to expect that there will be issues now and then but shit happens. Safe travels everyone.
if you've flown 50 airlines, of the US-based ones, how bad was frontier. I've never flown spirit but frontier was far and away the worst US carrier. laughably poor.
I don't get the hate for Frontier. I've flown them probably about 20-30 times, and out of that, I've had a delayed flight twice and they were for was less than 2 hours. The staff has always been professional and friendly. Buy one of those rolling suitcases that fit the dimensions of a "personal item" so you don't have to pay for a carry-on. I have fit a week's worth of clothes into a personal item size suitcase, so you just need to know how to pack. I am thankful that I have been able to travel to places that I may not have been able to afford, or care to pay a premium for.
@@samanthamartin9254 In Denver Frontier downgraded the plane that didn't accommodate all the passengers, leaving some behind, the passengers were the ones yelling, spitting, and making a mess, yet the staff were spot on professional and at times had to hold ground for with the decisions that frontier cor. presented them.
I think when it comes to the complaints towards Frontier and Spirit, many of them come from people who didn't take 5-10 minutes to Google about them, which is really annoying. It's not like they appeared or changed their services yesterday, they've been operating like this for a long time (I know Frontier's change was more recent when they used to be the JetBlue of the Rockies). People should know better, but they still want to complain for the clicks because they "forgot" you have to pay for carry-ons, have a tiny little seat, and are *shocked* when their group isn't sitting together because they didn't want to pay for seat selection. However, there were some shady things Frontier did over the last year, like the "COVID Recovery Fee" they had on recent airfare purchases that they eventually had to remove. That I do think was worth complaining about, and I'm glad they dropped it.
Yeah, the Covid recovery fee thing was a huge mistake on their part and I’m glad they owned up to it. And you’re totally right about everything else as well - not all airlines are equal, and it’s amazing to see so many people expecting a Delta-like experience when purchasing a $99 transcon fare on Frontier.
You could have paid a quarter of that fare if you booked far enough in advance! My hometown airline gets a lot of shade, so thanks for shining a light on them. I paid $68 for a DEN-TPA round trip! That can’t be beaten and if you go into it with a positive attitude, you’ll have a better experience. I’ll find out about Spirit next month.
did you check a bag? did you pick you seat or did you enjoy the middle seat? 3.25 for a cup of water. if i lived in denver i'm sure for under 120 min flights i'd just deal with them but they are horrible. I've flown every major (and some discontinued) US carriers except spirit and will never fly frontier again if i can ever avoid it.
@@jasonh5902 bring a refillable cup and fill it at the airport filter water stations for free, (hell most airport restaurants will give you free ice if you ask) Gamble for a middle seat for a short flight (who cares faster and cheaper than driving). Pack smart so you don't have to pay for luggage (I've never paid for luggage when flying budget airlines) most people who complain have top tier airline expectations and that's where the disappointment comes from.
Hi Scott, my name is Luis Urbieta but even though there's not 1 perfect airline I think Frontier is a great airline but by no means PERFECT. I love this content.
Ive taken frontier twice from San Francisco to Omaha both times layover in denver and both times it was pretty quick and reliable will definitely fly with them again
The tray tables looked standard size. I thought Frontier had the mini tray tables like Spirit. And what's with the mini armrest? Why would they do that?
My main concern is the safety of the plane (do they cut corners on construction, materials, and testing) and training of the personnel (do the pilots and FAs have to pass the same level/rigor of training as any other airline so they'd know what to do in an emergency?). Do the major airlines only accept A student pilots/FAs, and airlines like Spirit and Frontier accept B/C/D student pilots/FAs? Are they trained to the same level of rigor in all situations? Those are my main questions. If the answer is yes, then I see little reason to pay the extra money for Delta/American/United, etc. Flight delays and cancellations could also be a hindrance, though.
Thanks Ryan! Considering that Frontier keeps watering down their service probably doesn’t help either. It’s hard to go from a “normal” airline to an ULCC without anyone noticing!
@@sanspotter True, but there prices have dropped with it so I’m personally okay with it! The only airline I refuse to fly in the US is Allegiant because of the way they treated my grandmother!
Why? Because Frontier used to have reasonable connection times, nicer seats ( not those atrocious torture seats they have now), didn't nickel and dime you, were on time with their flights, had a local flight for me ( KPVU, then cancelled) and worst off they stopped baking cookies on board. They are the public transport of aviation
If I were a billionaire, I would buy out frontier and bring the entire business model back to 2008 but with the latest and greatest seatback IFE and the comfiest coach seats in the market dressed in black leather with green accents as well as cabin humidifiers, and green ambient lighting. Also funny safety video that is inspired by the TV commercials. Have the cheapest flights with no Al La carte, no gimmicks, or BS. In house customer service, premium flight experience from ground staff to cabin crew to self service, and baked cookies on board.
Brilliant Report Sanspotter! Haven't really had more time to comment but finally got the chance and just wanna say fantastic work on your videos in the past couple months! I've really enjoyed them and looking forward to more in the future!
It’s nice. From SFO to PHX and ATL to SFO was fine. I loved it we arrived early and nice customer service and clean planes and new a320 neo. Nice airline better than other airlines. Maybe flying on a United or Alaska makes me feel like am in the highest airline
I worked for Frontier in Denver in the early 2000’s when it wasn’t an ultra low cost carrier had leg room and pretty much operated like a normal airline and was comparable to JetBlue with TVs in the seat backs . They even had a few 737s at that time and only had those a319s and even a couple of a318s. Horizon operated their express flights with CRJs ant the end of A concourse in DEN. It’s been sold and bought a few times since . I will say that I absolutely LOVED working there while I was in college/fight school . I traveled everywhere with them using my flight benefits and customers seemed happy at least back then. Their only hub was DEN then as well and all flights connected there. I haven’t flown them since I worked there and from what I hear about them now I won’t in the future. I’d much rather keep those happy memories haha. Anyway thanks for the video.
As long as people keep flying them and paying those fees, they will keep doing it. Best way to get rid of the fees is to vote with your wallet, but people will never do that.
Or, you get what you pay for. That $40 ticket is only $40 if you choose not to add on (solo weekend warrior here, i dont bring more than a backpack). United basic econ includes no bags, you trying to cancel them too?
It’s literally still cheaper to pay for carry on luggage rather than go with another carrier. All the big companies do is charge you more for a ticket and hide the fees within the overall price
hold up you pay what price on a legacy airline? before pandemic it could be 600 or more for a round trip flight to wherever in the us when you can pay a fraction of that on frontier so you are complaining for paying roughly 30 dollars for a carry on bag? unless you purchased your carry on at the counter then you pay 75 but that again would be your fault because when you purchase your ticket it says that you could pay more at the counter. use the app stop being an idiot.
They hate it because they don’t understand that a budget airline is not a luxury experience. They gotta turn a profit somehow, which is why they nickel and dime you on every little thing. Airlines like this are EXCELLENT if you’re a solo traveler OR an adult traveling with other adults (NO KIDS), if you’re going on a day/weekend jaunt, if you have a flexible schedule, if you don’t care where you sit, and if you’re not bringing luggage. If that criteria applies to you, go for it. You can save a lot of money by flying Frontier. I flew down to Orlando from Raleigh for $38. It costs me more to put gas in my car. Insane deal. I paid it forward by bringing treats for the flight crew, and they were so happy with the treats that they bumped me up to a nicer seat. Massive win all around.
I flew RT from IAD to Denver and back. First time, I didn't book the flight but it was a good price. The outbound from DC to Denver out flight was delayed 4 hours because our plane was grounded in Denver and we had to wait for another flight to come into Denver that would fly to DC to be our outbound flight. Luckily the flight back to DC had no delays.
I love Frontier for what it is. A low cost carrier with few routes. Tip #1: Only book a direct flight. Tip #2: Pay very close attention to how many flights they make to your destination and on which days. I did about 28 segments with them in 2019 and the only concession I made was to have a backup Southwest ticket for my return flight as insurance against cancellation. Since Southwest lets you refund your ticket for future flights, I just kept rolling my backup flight over to be insurance on my next trip. My 500 mile flights were typically only $30 each way and once I got Elite 20K status, seat selection and overhead carryon became free. The pandemic killed my route though, so now I am stuck with a 7 hour drive or Southwest. Being able to fly every 3 weeks round trip for $60 was huge for me. Parking at the airport and an Uber at the destination were more costly expenses.
I never carry on anything that won't fit in my pockets so the carry on thing doesn't bother me. I usually just check a bag and call it good. It serves the purpose of getting you to here to there. Crews have always been polite and efficient. Its a budget airline so really no extras. I don't mind Frontier
I've flown Frontier twice in the last couple months and I wouldn't say they are bad... Just...you get what you pay for. No screens in seats, no wifi, uncomfortable seats, no snacks, no drinks unless you want to buy a $4 bottle of water from them, no frills, sales pitches, any excuse to nickel and dime you, very minimal customer service, and typically the lowest prices of anyone. The price is often a hundred or even hundreds less than a comparable flight on United or American. But you get very few creature comforts and if you have a bad back like I do you pay for flying Frontier in... other ways, in the days following the flight. Also there is just no escape from the screaming babies and poor people taking cheapo flights like these are going to have fewer ways to entertain or mollify their crotch-goblins. You get what you pay for. And for what you get from Frontier the price is fair.
@@RemedialRobBull! I bring snacks though the airport security all the time... Bring an empty water bottle and fill it at the free filtered water bottle kiosk that most airports have now.
Hey Scott, sorry for an off topic question but what's the best way to find reasonable air fares? Tried to get out to DFW but it was too expensive for me.
Hey Manny - fares all across the board are really high right now. Travel demand is way up, and it’s likely we won’t be seeing “normal” pricing for a while. Now might be a good time to redeem points if you have any.
Hello, I need your help I flew with frontier airline and they lost my luggage I was, travelling, from Costa, rica with a stop to Miami and to cancun Upon arriving to cancun no luggage it’s only two weeks later that thy found them…..they are telling me that I have to drive 3 hrs to médina airport to get my luggage and I have to pay extra fee to get it…….insane
I’m flattered that you would ask such a thing - still, after after all these years of making these videos, it’s the voiceovers that I’m struggling with the most.
Why the hate? A simple Google search will tell you why. Frontier abandoned several of us in Denver after saying the flight was delayed but then it left on time without notice. A bunch of us had to buy entirely new last minute tickets from other airlines because that was the last flight of the season and frontier refused to do anything for us. Half a second Google search shows you how terrible this airline is. Your one off non crappy experience does not a good company make. Dependable is not a description of frontier Not much of a discount when you have a good chance of your flight being canceled, delayed or just being abandoned like half a dozen of us.
The one time I flew Frontier we got stuck sitting in the plane for 3 hours after boarding, waiting for the pilots to show up. When they finally showed up the flight attendant "joked" that the pilots were late "because they were drinking at their hotel casino bar and lost track of time" and that "drinks were on the airline". There was no drink service of course but they didn't even have clean water and the joke was far from funny. Also sitting in the back of a packed 737 with only the apu running for airflow for 3 hours left me feeling really nauseous, felt like carbon monoxide poisoning but I'll never know.
Sounds like a miserable experience. I’d recommend flying with them again though, as they’re not consistently bad like that. When everything goes right, it’s a really good airline.
Here is a realistic travel expectation: no WiFi no plugs no pillows no blankets. Snacks and beverage are for purchase No Complimentary items (credit/debt card - no cash) The airline has a ton of information about purchasing your seats, bag & carry-on prior to traveling see the airlines website & app. Don't be a family and expect to sit together when you haven't purchased your seats together you maybe separated and that's simply your fault for not taking care of these items before you travel and it's not up to the cabin crew members to move people around just because you haven't purchased your seats in advance. All fees at the airport are most expensive and seats are most likely sold out and no you can't sit in the exit row for free ($50) for more leg room unless (your nice) & the airline decides to upgrade you otherwise the rows remain open and you can't just sit there because you think your entitled they will check your boarding pass and move you as every flight has assigned seating. People $ pay for exit rows and the stretch seating options. The FAA allows one carry-on and one personal item it's the law so yes you will be charged for additional bag(s) that will go in the cargo hold. Be an informed consumer if this type of travel experience is not for you then ULCC (Frontier/Spirit/Allegiant) are not a good choice for you. Set the correct expectation and you won't be disappointed pay for your seat, checked bags and yes your charged for carry-on when you book your reservation at the airlines website or on the app to get the best deal if you pay at the airport it's most expensive. oh and American Delta United Southwest JetBlue never have delays or cancelled flights - never.....
My lower back still hurts 5 days after flying from Cincinnati to Vegas. Those seats are hard as concrete. Outside of the terrible padding on the seat, the rest of my trip was what I expected. Recommendation would be short flights.
I just flew from Little Rock to Denver to Bismark ND. I found the flight just fine. I took nothing but myself and no luggage. My plane ticket was 200 dollars so I'm not complaining. I rather enjoyed it being simplistic. Nothin fancy, just get me to where I want to go. The only thing I will complain about is the time it takes to load this plane. It is a Charlie Foxtrot... They need to work on that. Otherwise Kudo's to Frontier.
If you really want to know the true definition of slow, then you might as well travel with Frontier Airlines. They're service and preperation isn't your average speed of getting stuff done, it's like watching Turtles work as flight attendants. I understand delay's tho, kind of...
Exaaaactly! This is why I mentioned towards the end of the video that it’s probably “safer” to fly Spirit (since they have a much larger network).
But if all the cheapos that fly them can save $5 they will gladly do that and than bitch like crazy when they eventually wind up in a scenario like what you describe above.
Agreed
I love them, $34 round trip from Orange County to Vegas, can’t go wrong
It's my first time can you tell me if anything I mean anything went not as you planned
I don't hate em, my seat from cvg-las simply wasn't comfortable for my lower back that's all otherwise it was good
$34.00 not worth the paper the tickets printed on when they cancel the flight at the last minute.

@@Cha-y412 never had a problem flying frontier
I would love to hear Frontier explain how the bags we weighed at home twice on two different scales at 30 lbs suddenly weighted 45 at the Indianapolis airport. On the return trip, same bags with more in them weighed 34 lbs at the Orlando airport. Kind of interesting.
Sounds like the counter had miscaliberated scales ⚖️
Sounds like an issue with the airport instead of the airline
That's on the airport, airlines only rent the space to process tickets.
7:22 what was that for?
That’s a big problem with them, I heard they had a 25 billion $USD lawsuit for not refunding cancelled flights due to COVID

Is a beautiful Monday. Hope your day started with that adorable smile on your pretty face 🥰🥰
Same problem with me I was charged $99 cause my bag didn’t fit upwards but it fit sideways
That may be nice and all, but for the rest of us that doesn't help when we're flying over seas and down under.
My dad flies for delta so I get free 1st class tickets
What ever. To each his won.
If you're flying out of Wright-Patt why not fly for free Space-A if eligible on a C-17?
Yes you're right. The customer service is horrible. I was supposed to be in Orlando at 6:30pm and I got by 11:30pm and we didn't get our baggage till 5:30am. The only gave $15 meal voucher. How about that for customer service?
I’ve been flying with them for couple years from New Jersey all I can say , it’s more comfortable than JetBlue ! And cheaper than spirit ! I love it
Noooooooooo JetBlue is more comfortable then frontier and I’m a big man
Me as well Kathy, from TTN. Been all over with them, no issues.
I’ll take jet blue over frontier anyway
Im from NJ...looking to fly to Cancun. Prices are cheap..how much do they charge for luggage?
I can see now why Frontier has an "F" rating with the Denver Better Business Bureau.
sounds legit. also sounds like american airlines a few years ago.
We don’t care
This is why I would avoid Frontier. If you flight is cancelled , you are pretty much screwed.
Same issues I have with them. Their customer service is horrible!! And they don’t refund regardless!
@@naiomichanel2225 oh my god! Nobody asked for your opinion

😱.....horrendous experience..... Frontier might be the love child of Ryanair and Spirit
If I were to acquire frontier, I would convert it back into a JetBlue competitor.
Could be worse.
3 hour delay going
25 hour delay returning.

@@Cha-y412 I don't blame you. Frontier sucks. Usta be great. Wha happened?
Never had a good experience with them, flights were always delayed, unhappy or unwilling to help employees. This was at both SAN and DEN for me.
Maybe I need to fly them more - I have experienced a few delays with them, but otherwise nothing out of the ordinary.
Mine was from ATL to NYC. They offer free upgrade if you can operate the Exit doors.
Then stop using please.
They stranded me in Orlando for 3 days. Never again. Buyer beware and have a backup plan.
Frontier stranded me in Las Vegas. Didn't have another flight to GEG Spokane for 3 days...
If it were legal, I'm sure all the airlines would start charging in today's market climate of gauging the passengers for every cent possible.
correction: I recently flew on Frontier again, and the water cost $2.99 per bottle. Only the lavatories are FREE!

Thats good to hear i have a flight to
@@blackmamba-nb9cz Me too. I hope it goes smooth.
Because Frontier is Spirit cousin. Both are the same.
REASONS WHY I HOPE TO NEVER FLY FRONTIER AGAIN
1. the "low' fare online looks great (once you minimize that enormous screen blocking "DISCOUNT DEN CLUB" popup.) until you realize that it's like seeing a 20 cent hamburger.......and then you pay 50 cents for the bun, 30 cents for ketchup, 20 for a pickle, 8 cents for the napkins, 10 cents for the salt, etc. etc. now some of you will say "THAT'S AWESOME.
4. seats don't have TV or USB charging/outlets
5. not even a free soda/cup of water/tea/coffee or peanuts/pretzels
6. flight attendants. seem like the JV squad. most were very young and prob their first Flight Attendant jobs or they couldn't get hired at the big carriers.
7. the fees to check a bag, book a seat. even a carry on bag (larger than a purse) if you want anything better than a "bus in the sky" experience.
8. flight was 2 1/2 hours delayed. it left dallas 2 1/2 hours late but the app only told us 90 minutes before our flight. so for a full hour Frontier knew and didn't update any of us.
9. you'd think as a 'make good' a customer-service-focused biz would say "folks, we're waiving our fee for sodas and bottles of water/cups of coffee". would've cost them prob $100 for the whole flight and earned some goodwill. customer service ain't their thing.
10. the difference between LOW FARE CARRIER- Southwest and ULTRA low fare- Spirit or Frontier, is huge.
They have never departed on time, the workers are not customer service oriented, seats pack you in like sardines.
Maintainance on the low budget airlines is horrendous
Spirit is the lowest of the low.
Those flight attendants made a huge mistake, they chose the worlds worst airline
Republic had nothing to do with there business model, its all Indigo Investments
@@maxsaviation9512 not. who would like to work for scummy frontier rather than an average airline? not me
are the planes safe or just as safe as the bigger airlines like delta?
That is the whole thing. Understanding what you are paying for.
Also a question are there free for carry ons?
All airlines are like that. Delayed flight, miss your connection and no one even apologies, must less offer a credit. AA is horrible.
This^^^bc they only operate certain routes certain days of the week, and have no partners, you may be "stuck" if your flight gets cancelled
Went on frontier it was so good! Service was amazing and the flight attendants were super nice! Very clean too
What is that song in the beginning of the video
Yeah I’m not paying twice the rates for a slightly better arm rest😂
The only thing I understand people don't like is the delays, but in my opinion, the price makes up for it. They are a budget/ low cost airline. You can't be expecting some Etihad Residence seat from these prices. Lol. Nice video.
Thanks, and I totally agree. I can put up with a lot of inconvenience if the price is right.
Frank O' Connor I loved the animal livery too
Did you use the "den club" kids fly free program? I've wanted to know if they accommodate families sitting together.
Great to see a video.

Frontier constantly has good service,
out-of-this-world fares, and easily never fails to impress me.
Those fares get thrown out the window when you want to check a bag, carry on a bag, or even want to choose your own seat

One of my uncles [tried to fly] this exact route a couple years ago, but the flight got delayed and delayed and Frontier gave them the runaround until the middle of the night, when he finally gave up at 3 am and just walked to the Sheraton across the street to try to get a bed for the night 😬
relatable
Yep that is whatvyou get for 34 bucks
Is it true you can’t bring a carry on?
Because members of my family flew from Atlanta to Orlando on Frontier and were not allowed to deplane until 1 hour and 20 minutes after landing.
I booked with Frontier to fly to Florida back in November of 2020, and they canceled my flight via email a week in advance because not enough people were flying on that particular flight. I had to re-book with Spirit.
Well you have to pay 40.00 extra to reserve a seat. Plus you have to pay 40.00 for each carryon bag. So that’s 160.00 for two persons.
$40 for a bag is nothing compared to saving $250 for a round trip. For short trips, Frontier is a great option.
Frontier is honestly surprisingly good, I flew on it 3 times, only one delay but it was not that long, great service and the flight went smoothly.
I’m glad to see your review because I’d like to book a trip on Frontier. I always keep my expectations low, even on my European and Pacific trips. I just don’t want to be stranded or unreasonably inconvenienced.
Don't do it. You may not get there
@@spacecoastaesthetics6990 Actually, I took two flights on Frontier since I wrote this old comment. Both were absolutely fine, no problems at all.
I'd see people hate on Sun Country airlines too, I've only flown them once but it was a decent experience.
Exactly! It’s been a few years since I’ve flown Sun Country, but they’ve surprised me every time.
I used to fly them when they still had first class. We would sometimes upgrade to First class and their service is nice, so were the interiors.

No the flight but the why they treat the passengers
@@justsomebody5450 how do they treat the passengers
7:02 was that supposed to be a pun?
Awesome video Scott! The problem is that people want United service at Frontier prices, which is just ridiculous!
Why?
I wish frontier is still a hybrid airline instead of copying off spirit.
Frontier need to STOP charging for Carry On Luggage. Smh
As long as people keep flying them and paying those fees, they will keep doing it. Best way to get rid of the fees is to vote with your wallet, but people will never do that.
Or.. or… orrrrrr… you can just not fly them if that’s an issue. Pretty simple.
The price is nice until you take a 4hr flight to Denver on seats that are basically metal with just leather lol no cushion or leg room
Luckily the flight back to DC had no delays.
interstategar why was the plane grounded in Denver?

Dependable is not a description of frontier
Not much of a discount when you have a good chance of your flight being canceled, delayed or just being abandoned like half a dozen of us.
