- George Dudley Seymour (1859-1941) was a Progressive Era visionary whose advocacy and affection for the Connecticut’s cultural and physical environment has never been improved upon. He was a movement in one man bringing all the elements of conservation, preservation and civic memory together to affect change. Museum-maker, preservationist, environmentalist, antiquarian, collector, journalist, and art patron, this New Haven-based attorney was the greatest champion Connecticut ever had. His skill at inspiring public engagement, nurturing organizational change and working the levers of political influence - are a textbook in advocacy and devotion to a cause.
