patti and Michael nailed it...their voices complimented each other...a time when patti's goal was cross over pop appleal...new attitude/stir it up brought her to the cusp...but this song took her where she wanted/needed to be.....when any artist covers a song...one has to respect that its frm that artists interpretation and that interpretation is how the energy moves up and through them in that given moment...both artists are accomplished performers and confident vocalist so in the end it all came together..
The first version is always the one in your mind. If this was your first version you would be saying the same thing if Patti and Michael did it second.
